Queens past and present descended upon Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre on “Thursday” for the highly anticipated RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11 finale extravaganza, where (hopefully only) one lucky lady would sashay away a winner, baby.
As always, the finale began with the arrivals of this season’s eliminated queens, and I have to say, I loved watching some of these underrated stars getting the standing ovations they deserved. I knew the crowd would go wild for Nina West, but Plastique Tiara? And Scarlet Envy?! And don’t even get me started on Shuga Cain’s double reveal. I look forward to seeing some of these queens in a future season of All Stars.
Aside from the individual lip sync battles, all of which were saved for the end of the 90-minute finale, we were also treated to a woman-on-the-street segment with Miss Vanjie, the crowning of Nina West as Miss Congeniality and, of course, a touching farewell to Michelle Visage’s breast implants. #BreastInPeace
Heading into the Season 11 finale, 57 percent of TVLine readers believed that Yvie Oddly deserved the crown, while 38 percent through their support behind Brooke Lynn Hytes. Sadly, A’keria C. Davenport and Silky Nutmeg Ganache brought up the rear with 2.5 percent each. Let’s see how the actual results stacked up against those predictions:
First Battle: Silky vs. Brooke Lynn (Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious”)
We all gasped aloud when Silky chose to face Brooke Lynn in this lip sync, yes? For the life of me, I can’t possibly imagine why a sub-par lip syncer like Silky would willingly go up against someone previously dubbed a “lip sync assassin,” especially when A’keria was standing right next to her as a perfectly viable (and much easier) option. Silky may be the more bootylicious queen, but as we saw in this battle, Brooke Lynn is far better at shaking her limited jelly. No amount of wig changes (I counted three) could save Silky from Brooke Lynn, the badass ballerina.
Winner: Brooke Lynn | Eliminated: Silky
Second Battle: Yvie vs. A’keria (Rihanna’s “SOS”)
First of all, I haven’t heard this song in forever, so thank you, Drag Race. Second, this might have been the most exciting battle of the evening, as Yvie and A’keria proved a far more even match than I expected. Both queens just gave it their all, with Yvie — who looked like a child’s bedroom threw up on her, in the best way — bending and twisting every way imaginable, while A’keria attempted to hold her own with a sparkly wig reveal and some serious floor work.
Winner: Yvie | Eliminated: A’keria
Final Battle: Yvie vs. Brooke Lynn (Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory”)
This was it, the moment we’d all been waiting for — so why did I end up feeling so underwhelmed? Don’t get me wrong, I loved Yvie’s three-faced mirror headdress, and there was no shortage of drama in her performance. But weren’t you expecting more? For someone who has consistently wowed us all season with her incredible flexibility, you’d think Yvie’s final lip sync of the season would include more than a few backbends. Meanwhile, Brooke Lynn was pulling out all the stops. As a proud member of #TeamYvie, I was worried for a minute there.
Winner: Yvie | Eliminated: Brooke Lynn

So happy it was between Brooke Lynn and Yvie! I would’ve been happy with either of them winning. Yvie definitely deserved it though. And Nina got Miss Congeniality! I think this was the first season finale where everything that I wanted to happen actually happened.
I am still stumped though on one of the queens who came out when Christine (Kristine?) was singing Sissy That Walk, which was a great cover btw. The Queen has on like a red lace dress and big blonde hair. I can’t figure out who that was!
Serena ChaCha, second eliminated queen from Season 5
Ahh! That’s why I didn’t recognize her. Lol. Thanks.
Don’t be surprised if half these girls featured on this number end up on All Stars 5 #TheTee
It was the correct final two out of an underwhelming season.
Brook Lynn’s final performance was very disappointing. She had that cool reveal coat on only to reveal… A pretty but not very special bodysuit. And that was it.
I couldn’t keep my eyes off Yvie. She deserved the win.
I still think a Brook/Yvie/Nina/Vanjie final four would have been amazing.
I agree with you — Brook/Yvie/Nina/Vanjie would have been a better finale. I’m happy Yvie won tho.
Disapointed with brooke i mean statisticly she ha din the bag but she did the same routine as alwasy w the same wig we have seen and body suit, i mean even so what she did was great she didn’t wow us,yvie did a bit better in final lipsynk but over all it was a meh final 4 lipsynks to me lol.
Silky ‘chose’ to lip sync against ‘assassin’ Brooke Lynn? Okay. This show has become a joke.
She must’ve known it wasn’t hers to begin with, already getting ready for All Stars
Agree. Although I think Ru & Co had something to do with it.
You mean this show is rigged?? hahaha Shocker
Big Silk I agree with you. She looked like she didn’t even want to pick Brooke. She looked like she wanted to cry. Yeah, I think the show is rigged although entertaining. I was a huge fan in the beginning but now not so much. I missed seasons 5 through 7. I may sit out next year. It is time for some changing. Getting too predictable from episode one.
An uneven season but definitely the best top 2 stand out queens to make it to the final lipsync battle in the three years of the new finale twist (Shea v Sasha shoulda been the top 2, S10 top 3 was a mess)
Yvie gave a an arty captivating performance and did not repeat the same gymnastics she already did vs BrookLynn in their “Sorry Not Sorry” epic lipsync, so I appreciate that. A deserving convention breaking queen!
I thought Silky proved why she never should have made it to the finale. Pouty to the end. I was very glad Yvie won but I thought A’Keria did better in that battle as Yvie’s outfit overwhelmed her body and got in the way of her performance. Brooklyn rocked the 1st lipsync but I she reminded me of Kameron Michaels (who I rooted for) in the 3way final performance last year – all over the stage with no coherency. Miss Vanjie stole the show except I do think Yvie became a star and also looked gorgeous out of drag in the b/w video.
Had to bring politics into it! Boo.
A show created by and for queer people, spending 60 seconds to remind the community to remember and respect their history, while also encouraging them to do their civic duty and vote to maintain their civil rights. How utterly egregious.
Such a privilege for you to be above politics; lucky you. Those that participate in this show (cast, crew, contestants) and the vast majority of fans who have been with it since the early days don’t have the that luxury when we continue to fight for equal treatment and non-discrimination under the law.
Brooke Lynn was ripped off!
I agree wholeheartedly
I knew from day one she would win. She made this the best season ever, from talks in the work room, to the stage. What talent 💞
Don’t get me wrong I wanted Yvie to win but she put no effort in that final lip sync and the whole thing was way to predictable and was in general a very disappointing grand final unfortunately
The only one who deserved her win was Nina
Are you serious LOL. Yvie was dressed like the winner in a big stunning, polished yet odd gown. Exactly what she was supposed to wear. She showed that she could take her oddness and make it into some marketable and beautiful. Brooke literally had on the same basic body suit and blonde wig she’s wore all season long. L
I was more so meaning the actual lip sync itself not what she was wearing. It just felt flat and like she wasn’t really trying almost like she already knew she was going to win no matter what she did but same could be said of Silky loosing when she “decided” to go up against Brooke for her lip sync.
Very predictable, they needed to pick someone that was uhmmmm, how can I say this? But uhm ODD!!! Can you say ratings, all for the ratings!
Both Yvie and Brook Lynn were amazing..I would have been fine either way. I agree. Silky made a strategy error. But the top 2 deserved their wins. And the Congrniality award was perfect. Ms. VANJE
Im sool happy thay Yvie won, but I would’ve been fine with Brooke Lynn winning. Her final lip synch wasn’t that great nor her first with Silky, it was just that Silkys was not great either.
I wanted Brooke Lynn to bring it like ahe did when she and Yvie tore the house down.
But I am very happy with Yvie winning…it didn’t seem like it from th3 first day, but she pulled herself through and took the crown.
I thought A’Keria was Silky’s closest friend on the show so it made sense for her to pick someone else. I’m more surprised she didn’t pick Yvie.
Also, Brooke and Yvie would have had to fart glitter and transform into a unicorn to exceed expectations after their legendary battle earlier in the season. There was no way they were gonna beat that 1st battle. That’s why we were all so underwhelmed by the final lip sync.
Was that Trinity the Tuck in all yellow?
It should have been Brooke Lynn. Was a fix in?
It really should’ve been, hands down!!
Best thing about this season was…
Not much sweetie, I fear for the ratings lol are we seriously happy with yvie winning haha someone should start a potition to have the season re-done
