Kim Namjoon, aka BTS RM, has unveiled his latest single, “Come Back To Me,” as a pre-released track of his upcoming album, Right Place, Wrong Person. The lyrics and music video highlight RM’s love for Jungian psychology. Fans saw his reference to Jungian theory previously in the Intro track of Map Of The Soul, “Persona.”

BTS RM‘s keen interest in delving deep into the psyche while producing his solo songs is well-known to fans. RM’s 2018 mix-tape Mono reflected his desire to bring more discussion on mental health. Since then, the BTS star has also released his official moody solo album, “Indigo, ” a journal of his late twenties.

RM’s latest track, Come Back To Me, thoroughly impressed BTS ARMY. Everything about the song depicts RM’s desire to understand himself, from the lyrics to the music video. The music video reminds fans of “Persona” as the K-pop rapper shows parts of himself stuck in different time loops. In “Come Back To Me,” RM is eager to return to crucial life points to search for true happiness.

Furthermore, the K-pop music video has led fans to theorize that RM is returning to Jungian theory to find answers about himself. In “Persona,” RM confronts several versions of his inner self divide in characters, like “persona,” “shadow,” and “ego,” which refers to Carl Jung’s theories of psychology. Similarly, in “Come Back To Me,” only when RM detangles various conflicts of his mind that occurred in the past can he meet true happiness.

Speaking of the music video, a fan theorized, pointing out a particular scene: “Not to get all Jungian, but I do wonder if she is representing Namjoon’s Anima that he must embrace to grow and be happy. That’s why the camera changes from him to her, and he regresses to a baby before moving forward and healing.”
