Montreal Alouettes release LB Bryce Notree and sign WR Charleston Rambo

The Montreal Alouettes released linebacker Bryce Notree and signed wide receiver Charleston Rambo on Saturday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Bryce Notree is six foot three and weighs 225 pounds. The 25-year-old from Arlington, Texas, made 21 tackles, 11 tackles on special teams, and one sack in 10 games for the Montreal Alouettes in 2023 as Montreal won the 110th Grey Cup over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Alouettes signed Notree as a free agent on January 14, 2023. Before Montreal, Notree signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent on May 16, 2022, but was released on August 7, 2022.

Collegiately, Notree played five seasons at Southern Illinois (2017-21) with 246 tackles (169 solo, 77 assists), 15 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, four interceptions for 43 yards, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 46 games with the Salukis. He was an All-MVFC Honorable Mention in 2020.

In his senior season, Notree had 90 tackles (67 solo, 23 assists), 8 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, and six pass breakups in 13 games. He was named 2nd Team All-MVFC in 2021. He finished his Salukis’ career ranked 24th in tackles (246).

Charleston Rambo is six foot one and weighs 185 pounds. The 24-year-old from Cedar Hill, Texas, signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 but was released on August 30, 2022. Then, Rambo was drafted by the Orlando Guardians in the first round (4th pick) of the 2022 XFL Draft.

In 2023, Rambo finished second in receiving with 35 catches for 430 yards, and four touchdowns in ten games for the Orlando Guardians in 2023. After the season, Rambo signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on May 16, 2023, but injuries prevented him from playing in the preseason.

Collegiately, Rambo played four seasons at Oklahoma (2017-20) making 76 catches for 1,180 yards, nine touchdowns, four carries for 37 yards, 13 kick returns for 326 yards, one punt return for 11 yards, and five tackles (4 solo, 1 assist) in 36 games for the Sooners.

Then, Rambo transferred to Miami (FL) in 2021 making 79 catches for 1,172 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games for the Hurricanes. He was named Second Team All-ACC.
