Joshi

About this guide

This guide is written in the hopes that those just starting to watch Tokyo Joshi & those with little to no Japanese ability can understand & follow along. In this write-up I’ll attempt to explain the structure, accolades & roster of Tokyo Joshi. The notable matches I list aren’t necessarily important matches or major wins but are, from my perspective, good showcases of each wrestlers’ abilities and/or personality, win, lose or draw. All matches listed are Wrestle Universe content. To view matches a membership to Wrestle Universe is required. When signing up, the first billing period is free. DDT bills on the last day of every month so be sure to register on the first of a new month to get the most out of a subscription. Most major Tokyo Joshi Pro shows air live on Wrestle Universe. Recently Tokyo Joshi has been uploading matches & digests from their shows to their YouTube channel. Smaller shows are uploaded to universe within a week of the match date. A note about the back catalog: while shows from 2017 & onward have been fully uploaded to DDT Universe, previous years are more sporadic. But, they’ve been slowly filling in the gaps. Also of note, I’ve listed the Japanese names of each of the performers. They can be copied & pasted to aid in searches.

Promotion & history

Tokyo Joshi is a sub promotion of DDT & thus uses some of the same elements. The performers will often be featured in cross promotion events or in DDT's bigger events such as Judgement & Peter Pan. They are known for a roster full of big personalities.

The company was established in 2013 with the concept of mixing idol performances & women's wrestling. The original debut featured 3 performers wrestling exhibition matches in small venues of 50 people or less on mats with matches being interspersed with idol performances.

The original performers had their official debut in a tag team match at DDT’s Peter Pan show in the fall of 2013. Afterwards, they made their first self-produced show inside a wrestling ring in December of 2013. The promotion used wrestling rings more often & added talent over the next 2 years. They slowly phased out outside idol performances until shows were almost entirely wrestling matches & any idol performances were by members of their roster. They had their first Kourakuen show in 2016 & have expanded to bigger venues, done more shows outside Tokyo & more Kourakuen dates since that time. They celebrated their 5th anniversary of their first show with ring in December 2018. Several of their wrestlers have now had excursions in foreign countries. Their recent Kourakuen shows have had some of the best attendance numbers in Joshi & they announced they will have a show in a 2000+ seat venue later in 2020. They are steadily growing every year.

Structure of cards & events

Match cards are structured similarly to DDT cards with a rising action style. Cards start with announcements & rules of the show by the announcer & some of the women. Occasionally a fast promo setting something up for later will occur. Performances of songs by some wrestlers will also help open the show. Early matches feature rookie performers doing small showcases or matches with high amounts of comedy. Cards often finish with more serious matches or title defenses. Title defenses have very little comedy and are often hard-hitting affairs but main event matches of smaller shows can vary in seriousness. Match types thus far have included singles matches, tag matches, 6 women tags, 8 women tags, or triple threat contests with special stipulations such as handicap matches, battle royals, anywhere falls matches, etc. sometimes occurring. Early matches are usually 10 to 15-minute affairs. Tag matches get more time even early in the card usually between 15 to 30 minutes. Main event matches are almost always 30-minute 1-fall affairs. To date a standard match has never been longer than 30 minutes.

The structure of events is similar to how WWE built to Pay-per-views in the past. Tokyo Joshi will have several small shows that build the story lines & showcase the women that main event the big show to drum up interest. For example, if the main event of a big show is a singles match, a smaller show will have a main event featuring those 2 women on the opposite sides of a tag team match.

Accolades

Tokyo Joshi currently has 4 major accolades.

Princess of Princess Championship (nickname: PuriPuri championship) - Established January 2016. 6 title holders.

Princess Tag championships - Established October 2017. 5 title holders.

International Princess Championship - Established August 2019. 4 title holders

Princess Cup - Established July 2014. The princess cup is an annual single elimination single-woman tournament that takes place in summer. Since establishing the PuriPuri championship, winners of the princess cup are given an automatic right to challenge for the title.

Special note: The DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight 24/7 championship has occasionally circulated through the promotion.

Ace

Height: 165 cm.

Birthplace: Fukuoka Prefecture.

Debut: 8/17/2013

Championship history: PuriPuri Champion (2x), DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion (3x) SHINE Women’s Champion.

Finishers: Attitude Adjustment, CRH - Crash Rabbit Heat (Running bicycle knee)

Signatures: German Suplex, Running corner high knee. Cobra clutch

Miyu Yamashita is the Ace of Tokyo Joshi. She debuted with the promotion & is the only one of the original 3 stars still wrestling. Miyu has a background in karate & kickboxing making her heavily kick based offense something to be feared. She is both the inaugural & a 2-time PuriPuri champion. Over the years she’s had feuds with Nonoko, Saki-sama & Kanna. Oftentimes when it’s announced they have to face her, her opponents have an extremely perturbed reaction. That said, she has good relationships with most of the roster outside the ring. Miyu is one strongest members of the Tokyo Joshi roster but she has one particularly notable weakness. She’s terrible in tournaments.

Notable Matches:

Yamashita VS Yuu - 9/22/2016 Shinjuku. Puripuri championship match.

Yamashita VS Satomura - 8/23/2017 Kourakuen. Special Singles match.

Yamashita VS Tatsumi - 5/3/2018 Kourakuen. Puripuri championship match.

Height: 150 cm.

Birthplace: Saitama Prefecture.

Debut: 3/30/2016

Championship history: Puripuri Champion, 4th Princess Cup winner, Princess Tag Champion (with Marika Kobashi), AWG Women’s Champion.

Finishers: Jackhammer, Tower Bridge (torture rack)

Signatures: Shining Wizard, Back suplex, Dropkick, Camel Clutch.

Reika Saiki is a pro wrestler, singer & talent who originally trained & debuted in Wrestle-1. Reika has a small background in bodybuilding & kickboxing. Her offense is a mix of strong kicks & various power moves. Even though she is shorter than most of the roster she has a lot of power & can muscle anyone up into her Jackhammer finisher. She can always be relied upon to put on solid, fun matches. She is very charismatic as well. She is one of Tokyo Joshi’s rare Triple Crowns having won the puripuri & tag championships plus the Princess cup. (I’m leaving her on the main roster page for now because there’s a fair chance she’ll return with the close of Wrestle-1.)

Notable Matches:

Saiki & Itoh VS Sakazaki & Mizuki - 8/25/2018 Kourakuen. Princess Tag championship match

Saiki VS Satomura - 1/4/2019 Kourakuen. Special singles match

Saiki & Kobashi VS Itoh & Mizuki - 5/19/2018 Kitazawa. Princess Tag championship match

Finishers: Northern Lights Suplex, Top rope Senton

Signatures: 619, Rider Kick (top rope single leg missile drop kick).

Shoko is the second longest active member of the roster. Though officially they debuted at Peter Pan at the same time, Miyu started mat exhibition matches before Shoko. Shoko is small, fast & extremely capable in the ring. She is one of the smallest members of the roster & has become great at playing the scrappy underdog. She has a wealth of knowledge of quick roll ups, reversals & high-speed attacks. Recently she’s become interested in powerlifting & has increased her strength tremendously. She has charisma & good improvisation skills from studying as a comic. She is a Tokyo Joshi triple crown and is one half of the inaugural Princess Tag champions, the “Mirakureanz” with Yuka Sakazaki. She is a mega fan of old Japanese monster movies, Kamen Rider, Ultraman & Super Sentai & will often reference these things in her various promos. *note*: she is the only woman to best Saki-sama in singles competition.

Notable Matches:

Nakajima VS Sakazaki - 7/23/2016 Yokohama. 3rd Princess Cup 2nd round

Nakajima VS Yuu - 1/04/2017 Kourakuen. Princess of Princess Title match.

Height: 158 cm.

Birthplace: Southtown - Land of Magic.

Debut: 12/1/2013

Championship history: Puripuri Champion (2x), Princess Tag Champion (2x) (with Shoko Nakajima x1, with Mizuki x1)

Finishers: Magical Magical Girl splash (slingshot rotating splash), Magical girl splash (slingshot splash)

Signatures: Magical Merry-go-round, hurricanrana, rolling suplexes, reverse STO, sliding lariat, slingshot frogsplash.

Yuka is a chaotic ball of bubbly madness. Her style is grounded in Lucha Libre & she often resorts to top rope maneuvers to accomplish her goals. She's a bit of an enigma but gets along with most everyone (with many girls professing their love for her). She barely ever takes anything completely seriously. That said, she is one of the most skilled and engaging women on the roster as well as one of the longest active; having her debut match only 4 months after Shoko and Miyu's official debuts. She did for a time during 2016 & early 2017 go on a training journey in her home magical kingdom to get stronger. During which her sister Mille Clown fought in her stead. Before her training she would use all assortment of pranks, toys and household objects to help obtain victories but would often still fall in defeat. Since returning she has shown the fruits of her training by trading in her nick-knacks, for a plethora of stronger offensive attacks. She has held both the Puripuri title & the Princess tag titles twice. Her biggest flaw is that she can be easily distracted, especially by various types of food. She will sometimes zone out & become bored when people are challenging her to matches.

Notable Matches:

Sakazaki VS Yamashita - 7/02/2017 Shinjuku. 4th Princess Cup Round 1,

Sakazaki VS Mizuki - 6/09/2018 Shinkiba. 5th Princess Cup Round 1,

Sakazaki & Mizuki VS Nakajima & Riho - 1/04/2019 Kourakuen. Princess Tag championship match.

Championship history: DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion. Princess Tag Champion (with Yuka Sakazaki), 6th Princess Cup winner, DDT 10 Man Tag Champion (with Danshoku Dieno, ASUKA, Yuki Iino & Trans AM Hiroshi)

Finishers: Cutie Special, Top rope double foot stomp, Aquamarine, Crossface

Signatures: Bow and Arrow, Foot stomp. Dropkick to 2nd rope draped opponent.

Mizuki is a freelance wrestler regularly working in Tokyo Joshi. Debuting at the end of 2012 Mizuki is actually the most experienced member of the roster. Her debut promotion is Legend Ladies Pro Wrestling X (LLPW-X) where she trained under Tomoka Nagakawa & Joshi Legend Takako Inoue. Mizuki likes getting along with everyone. She enjoys cute things and the crazy personalities of many of the other wrestlers. Mizuki is much smarter than she lets on and will sometimes deceive or manipulate people for her own gain especially Rika who has developed a crush on her. This has earned her the nickname “Devil-pyon” (a play on her more common nickname “Mizu-pyon”). By chance she has paired with her former rival Yuka. They captured the Princess Tag titles as the Magical Sugar Rabbits or MajiRabi for short. Overall, Mizuki is a strong competitor & puts on great performances with her mix of high flying, speed, & submission techniques. Furthermore, she is an excellent counter wrestler with the ability to quickly learn opponents’ techniques & adapt to them. She can also execute most of her signature & finishing moves from reversals.

Notable Matches:

Mizuki VS Sakazaki - 6/09/2018 Shinkiba. 5th Princess Cup Tournament 1st Round Match,

Mizuki VS Nakajima - 6/25/2019 Shinkiba. 6th Princess Cup Tournament 2nd Round match,

Main Eventer

Height: 165 cm.

Birthplace: Nagano Prefecture.

Debut: 1/14/2014

Championship history: DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion, Princess Tag Champion (with Miu Watanabe)

Finishers: Dragon Sleeper, Twist of Fate, Top Rope Hip Attack

Signatures: Dragon Screw leg whip, Hip attacks (top rope, standing or running), running elbow drop, Figure four.

Originally billed as Ririko Kendo, Rika changed her name in late 2015. Most worthy of note is that she’s honed her butt into a near invincible weapon. It’s been shown to break boards & be impervious to kicks and punches. Even needles are unable to penetrate its surface. She was originally set to debut at the same time as Sakazaki, however a small injury delayed her debut one month. She’s a versatile wrestler with a plethora of strikes, top rope attacks & submissions. Her favorite attacks target her opponents’ legs & knees. She has repeatedly run afoul with the various incarnations of the Biishikigun stable; having major battles with them throughout 2017 & 2019. She has developed a one-sided crush on Mizuki & will have difficulty fighting with her because of her feelings. Most of the roster regard her as being kind of crazy & she’s been known to attack teammates for various reasons during matches (usually to get closer to Mizuki).

Notable Matches:

Tatsumi & Kurone VS SIN Biishikigun : 6/04/2017 Shinjuku. Team Dissolution match.

Tatsumi, Kurone & Koshinaka VS NEO Biishikigun - 8/26/2017 Kourakuen. 6-man mixed tag match,

Tatsumi VS Yamashita - 5/03/2018 Kourakuen. Princess of Princess championship match.

Finishers: Kakato drop (Axe Kick), Neck screw hold. Suzuki Dynamic, Lariat

Signatures: Big boot, foot choke, Oppai-ye

Yuna is a gravure model, wrestling trainer & freelance wrestler primarily working for Tokyo Joshi Pro. She is a graduate of Stardom from the chapter two era & had her debut match against Kairi Hojo (Kairi Sane). After leaving Stardom she joined Actwresgirl'Z. There she worked as a wrestler & trainer. She helped train some of their most well-known wrestlers including Saori Anou, Natsumi Maki and Tae Honma. She then moved on to Tokyo Joshi. She was announced as a regular member in early 2017. She has formed a tight friendship with Yuki Kamifuku & is also often paired with Mina Shirakawa. Together, the three of them are known as “Cat’s Pye” (a play on the anime “Cat’s Eye” about a trio of female thieves). She has a somewhat lascivious side that occasionally (read: often) emerges during matches.

Notable Matches:

Manase VS Nonoko - 6/04/2017 Shinjuku. Gravure Idol singles match,

Manase VS Mizuki - 07/14/2019 Ryogoku KFC. 6th Princess Cup Tournament finals,

Upper Mid-card

Height: 164 cm.

Birthplace: Gotham city of north Kanto area.

Debut: 2/28/2015

Championship history: Princess Tag Champion (with Saki-sama as Misao).

Finishers: Hyper Mi returns (Final cut), Libera Me (Chicken wing facelock), Vanitas (Tiger driver setup into a facebuster)

Signatures: Hero correctional system, “I am a Hero” (running or diving crossbody)

Hyper Misao is a crime fighter that appeared in Tokyo Joshi Pro with the goal of protecting love & peace within the promotion. For a time, she lost her way & went down a path of darkness. She joined NEO-Biishikigun & became Saki-sama’s dark Acolyte, Misao. However, she has since been able to cleanse herself of that darkness & now a new more powerful hero has returned! Misao’s sense of justice is often very much guided by her opinions & want to win so her rationale for considering people villains can often be comical. Hyper Misao is both smart & clever. She will use tactics as much as her physical abilities to defeat opponents, whether those tactics are legal is another conversation altogether. Hyper Mi returns!

Notable Matches:

Misao VS Nodoka - 5/12/2019 Osaka. Singles match

Hyper Misao VS Kasai - 5/3/2016 Kourakuen Hall. Special anywhere falls match,

Hyper Misao VS Tatsumi - 2/23/2019 Shinjuku. Return Singles Match.

Height: 145 cm.

Birthplace: Okayama Prefecture.

Debut: 1/4/2016

Championship history: DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion.

Finishers: Killswitch, WAR Special (seated double chicken wing).

Signatures: Flying Crossbody, Fallaway slam, Back flip (Samoan drop)

Nodoka debuted at the same time as both Yuu & Marika Kobashi. She was trained primarily by former DDT wrestler Cherry. Her first character was based around the child that helps out all the puppets on children’s programs such as Sesame Street. The big sister to the viewer. She was one of the weakest roster members during that period. However, she has gotten stronger & since her character change into Tenma Nodoka, she has been elevated to a higher position. Posing a much greater threat for the main event squad. When push comes shove Nodoka will fire up and hit you hard. She is the real older sister of Bakurestsu Sisters tag partner Yuki Aino. She is also an extremely talented singer/songwriter.

Notable Matches:

Nodoka Oneesan VS Yamashita - 6/19/2018 Narimasu. 5th Princess Cup Round 2,

Nodoka & Aino VS Sakazaki & Mizuki - 10/08/2018 Kitazawa. Princess Tag title match,

Debut: 5/3/2018

Championship history: none

Finishers: Venus DDT (reverse DDT), Full-nelson camel clutch

Signatures: Senton, Shoulder tackle, Gutwrench suplex

Yuki is the younger sister of Tenma Nodoka & was introduced as a trainee way back at the 1/4/2016 Kourakuen show. However, due to various circumstances, instead of debuting she first began appearing regularly as Tokyo Joshi’s Ring announcer after Momochi (the anime girl ring announcer) resigned from the position. Finally, she announced her debut for 5/3/2018 with Sayuri Nanba replacing her as ring announcer. Yuki is somewhat quiet & more reserved as compared to Nodoka but when she fires up she can be a force inside the ring. Since her debut she has regularly been paired with her sister as the formidable tag team “Bakuretsu Sisters” (Explosive Sisters) & while by herself Yuki is still a little green, together they have developed a powerful tandem offense that is difficult for even the strongest tag teams to overcome. The closeness with her sister has also led to some locker room ribbing that she has an obsessive complex about Nodoka.

Notable Matches:

Aino & Nodoka Oneesan VS Yuu & Hikari - 5/03/2018 Kourakuen. Yuki Aino Debut match

Aino VS Noa - 8/25/2019 Kourakuen. Singles match.

Bakuretsu Sisters VS Daydream - 1/04/2020 Kourakuen. Princess Tag championship match

Debut: 1/4/2016

Championship history: DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion, Princess Tag Champion (with Reika Saiki).

Finishers: Guillotine choke

Signatures: Machine gun chops, Corner Springboard Bulldog

Marika one of the younger members of the roster. She became interested in wrestling when she was in elementary school & decided to join DDT when she was in junior high. In the same class as Yuu & Nodoka, like them she was trained by Cherry & debuted at the 1/4/2016 when she was 15 years old. Marika is a bright character with a lot of potential. Marika is a huge fan of wrestler Abdullah Kobayashi so much of her offense is an homage to him. Marika took a leave of absence during late 2016 to early 2017 to study for high school exams. Marika is constantly getting stronger & providing a tougher challenge for her opponents. In early 2018 she captured the Princess Tag championships with the help of Reika Saiki. However, in a stroke of extreme bad luck she was forced to relinquish the belts because of injury. She returned at the 1/04/2019 Kourakuen show but has again taken leave to prepare for college. She will likely return after the logistics surrounding the pandemic are addressed. She has recently been identifying more with gyaru style.

Notable Matches:

Kobashi & Saiki VS Maki & Noa - 1/26/2019 Itabashi. Tag match,

Kobashi & Mizuki VS NEO Biishikigun - 3/10/2018 Yokohama. Tag match,

Championship history: DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion.

Finishers: Standing legdrop slam (Famouser).

Signatures: Chambered chop, 83 centimeter (Headscissor ddt), Big boot, Dropkick, Suplex

Yuki, or Kamiyu as she prefers to be called, debuted in the summer of 2017. Originally she had something of an “American” character, coming to the ring sporting red & white stripes on her tops & a cowboy hat with stars on her knee pads. However recently she has ditched gear in favor of more standard attire and comes to the ring with a simple 90’s esque denim jacket with patches all over it. Yet, she still comes to the ring to a version of “Ol’ MacDonald” so if you’re ever wondering why, that’s why. Kamiyu is one of the tallest women on the roster & makes use of her long legs for a variety of attacks including a nice dropkick. Kamiyu is intelligent & can speak English nearly fluently as well as come up with creative plans to attack. She is fashion-minded & will chide opponents on their looks & attire to distract them to open them up to attack. While she still sometimes lacks focus during matches she has managed to become a reliable member of Tokyo Joshi’s mid-card. Kamiyu is very playful & tries to get along with everyone. She can often be seen dancing to her opponent’s entrance music while she waits for the match to begin. She regularly teams with Yuna and or Mina with whom she has formed friendships. Watch out for her eye gouges.

Notable Matches:

Kamifuku VS Nakajima - 5/25/2019 Kitazawa. Princess cup 6 round 1

Height: 160 cm.

Birthplace: Fukuoka Prefecture.

Debut: 12/11/2016

Championship history: International Princess Champion, DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion (x6)

Finishers: Deep-Clutch Boston Crap, Itoh Special (high-angle Texas Cloverleaf sometimes with arm trap)

Signatures: DDT, Boston Crab. Headbutt, Diving headbutt, Kokeshi.

Maki Itoh is a former member of Kyushu Idol group LinQ (pronounced “link”). She is ultra-charismatic, an amazing talker, a good personality, quality physical comedian, improvisationalist, talented singer & she’s cute ta boot. She’s also the most egotistical, narcissistic megalomaniacal yakuza-accented shit talker ever. Maki Itoh even during her LinQ days would constantly mouth off & smack talk, constantly acting tough. Even before becoming a pro wrestler she had several interactions with DDT, especially company president, Sanshiro Takagi. Eventually she announced that she would be joining the Tokyo Joshi Roster. After a short time, she was fired from LinQ. Now this outwardly vainglorious big-headed former idol has a deep chip on her shoulder & inwardly is quite fragile, so she constantly needs affirmation. Hence her “Who’s the cutest in the world?” call. Maki believes she’s the greatest & talks a really big game. She is so hard headed in her beliefs it’s manifested in a physical form as her skull has developed into a near undamageable weapon. Maki’s primary forms of attack in matches make use of her head. This includes normal headbutts & diving ones. Opponents that forget about her ability will attempt headshots that always end up causing them pain. However, Maki’s talk often gets her into situations above her level. Challenging much stronger opponents & losing handily. That said Maki has improved greatly over the last 3 years & has earned herself a firm spot in Tokyo Joshi’s mid-card. So, the short version is as follows: Maki is the tiny cute chihuahua behind the fence that never stops barking at you. It’s both brilliant and ridiculous.

Notable Matches:

Itoh VS Mizuki - 9/09/2019 Shinjuku. Singles match,

Itoh VS Takigawa - 8/26/2017 Kourakuen. Idol lumberjack Deathmatch.

Itoh VS Danshoku Dieno - 1/04/2018 Kourakuen. Special Intergender Singles match.

Natsumi Maki or Natsupoi as she’s called by her fans is a former rhythmic gymnast, actress & pro wrestler regularly working in Tokyo Joshi. She trained & debuted in Actwres Girlz & wrestled there & other wrestling companies under the AWG banner for several years until announcing her departure in late 2018. After something of a kerfuffle with key people in AWG it was revealed that while Natsumi would officially be a freelancer, she would be a regular roster member for Tokyo Joshi beginning at the 1/4/2019 Kourakuen show. Since her debut with Tokyo Joshi she has proven to be a formidable force. She challenged for the princess tag titles with partner Hikari as the team Pandemic BOO BOO, & was crowned the inaugural International Princess champion after a fantastic match with Gisele Shaw at Kourakuen in August of 2019. Natsumi suffered an unfortunate injury in fall of 2019 which halted her momentum but she rehabbed with astonishing quickness. She proved to everyone that she was 100% at the 1/4/2020 Kourakuen in a great match against longtime friend SAREEE. Natsumi is fast, agile & a favorite with fans but has been known to candidly say what she thinks. This has caused a few ruffled feathers & tense relationships in Tokyo Joshi (specifically Itoh).

Notable Matches:

Pandemic BOO BOO VS Sakazaki & Mizuki – 5/03/2019 Kourakuen. Princess Tag title match.

Maki VS Sareee - 1/04/2020 Kourakuen. Single match.

Maki VS Shaw – 8/25/2019 Kourakuen. Inaugural International Princess championship match.

Mina is a performer, talent, gravure model & wrestler working in Tokyo Joshi. She actually appeared in Tokyo Joshi years before her debut as part of “Oh P Samba” an underground idol group that performed during one of the shows. Years later, through her participation in fitness competitions in Best Body Japan she became involved in Best Body’s project to create a wrestling organization & debuted there. Because of Best Body’s close working relationship with Sanshiro Takagi & DDT, Mina started appearing in Tokyo Joshi regularly. Mina has fondness for Lucha style wrestling. She did a short Mexican tour in September of 2018 shortly after her debut & main evented the CMLL luchadora’s Japan show. She has a solid frame because of her bodybuilding & has a good head for wrestling. That combined with her dynamic offense, stunning looks & genuine personality will help her become a strong competitor as she gains experience. Worthy of note, she has an odd rivalry relationship with Mizuki.

Notable Matches:

Shirakawa & Nodoka VS Sakazaki & Mizuki – 8/04/2019 Kanagawa. Special summer tag match

Shirakawa VS Saki-sama – 10/05/2019 Shinkiba. Singles match

Rookie

Height: 143 cm.

Birthplace: Yamanashi Prefecture.

Debut: 11/17/2018

Championship history: none

Finishers: Cat Nut Crush (somersault into a codebreaker)

Signatures: Cat scratches, Running neck breaker

Neko Haruna is part of the group of trainees known as the “Hi-SPCs” (pronounced “High Specs”) a group of 5 girls that all became Tokyo Joshi trainees around the same time & would be the last Tokyo Joshi wrestlers to debut in the Heisei Era (reign of the Japanese Emperor Akihito). Haruna was the first of these women to debut. She is the shortest girl on the roster at a whopping 143 centimeters (4’8”) her compact cuteness is compounded by her choice of a cat persona for her wrestling character. Haruna is still green & will sometimes get lost in matches. She can also be easily duped by the craftier wrestlers appealing to her cat side. That said she has good fundamentals & works hard so it’s likely she'll improve.

Notable Matches:

Neko Haruna VS Nakajima - 11/17/2018 Itabashi. Neko Haruna’s Debut

Neko Haruna VS Yuu – 11/18/2018 Kawaguchi. Singles match

Height: 163 cm.

Birthplace: Tokyo.

Debut: 11/24/2018

Championship history: none.

Finishers: Pom de JUSTICE (Step-up Leg drop).

Signatures: Shin kicks [FROM OUTTA NOWHERE], La Foret HARAJUKU (satellite headscissor named after a shopping mall)

Pom was the second of the “Hi-SPCs” to debut. She's quirky & has a not so subtle love of the Harajuku area of Tokyo where she grew up. Her sports background is swimming. She was first exposed to Pro wrestling at a Japan/Thai culture expo where she saw Michinoku Pro & Kikutaro. Pom is silly & playful in the ring. She is quickly improving but has yet to learn to be a real threat. She has become a queen of shin style as her favored attack is kicks to her opponent’s lower legs. I think her “Pom de JUSTICE” finisher, while easily scouted, is very cool. Follows of her twitter know that outside of wrestling she seems to be on a quest to visit every single boba tea/bubble tea/tapioca tea shop in existence.

Notable Matches:

Pom VS Itoh - 1/19/2019 Harajuku. Singles match

Pom & Unagi VS NEO-Biishikigun - 8/04/2019 Kanagawa. Tag match

Debut: 12/1/2018

Championship history: none.

Finishers: Full-nelson slam.

Signatures: Back body drop, Dropkick

YUMI is the 3rd “Hi-SPCs” Debut and the last to debut in 2018. YUMI is now one of the tallest roster members in Tokyo Joshi which is an amusing juxtaposition seeing as she is the youngest. At 16, YUMI is a quick study & has shown to be a formidable opponent for many. As she gains more experience it’s easy to picture her as part of the promotion’s future main event squad. She took leave to prepare for High School but is now preparing to return.

Notable Matches:

YUMI VS Akai - 12/1/2018 Shinjuku. YUMI’s debut match

Finishers: none.

Signatures: Synchronized headscissor escape, Gori Special, Legdrop

Himawari, a cosplayer, youtuber, performer & former synchronized swimmer, is the 4th member of the “Hi-SPCs”. Unapii as she is sometimes called has a flair for the dramatic & uses her abilities gained from her swimming days to show off for the audience. This can stun & bewilder more inexperienced roster members, leaving them exposed but it's rarely effective veteran members. While she is a member of the Hi-Specs, Himawari is often paired with Manase, Kamiyu & Mina for totally mysterious reasons. Himawari suffered an injury in October of 2019 & is recuperating.

Originally doing office work in a Japanese company, Mahiro discovered wrestling & DDT via a Street wrestling video she found on Amazon prime. After more research she applied to be a trainee. She is the final “Hi-SPCs” member to debut. While appearing to be the least flashy of the “Hi-SPCs” group she is a hard worker & seems to have a good head for wrestling. She has already developed some strong offensive combinations. Mahiro has developed a “lawful good” style personality during her matches & will follow the ring rules to the letter and wont bend them. She's known to chastise teammates when they don't follow the rules leading to entertaining interactions. While they'd never met prior to wrestling, Mahiro & Kamiyu realized that they were students at Toyo University at the same time.

When Mirai was in elementary school her hometown was one of many affected by the great Fukushima disaster. To help with relief a pro wrestling promotion called Real Japan, run by the original Tiger Mask, ran a charity event in her area. She attended this event & became interested in wrestling & was even able to correspond with Tiger mask. After graduating high school, she moved to Tokyo & began training. Her dream is to help more people with wrestling like she was helped. Mirai has a background in judo & is developing into a power player in Tokyo Joshi. Having only just started her career her future seems bright.

After graduating high school Suzume found an average job at a company. However, after seeing her first Tokyo Joshi match she set her sights on becoming a pro wrestler. She is a huge fan of Rika Tatsumi & aspires to be like her. (though I’m not sure that’s a good thing.) Her name & appearance are taken from the Japanese word “Suzume-bachi” which means “hornet.” Debuting in August 2019, Suzume still needs a lot of experience; but she has shown a lot of fire & good fundamentals in her matches thus far. She’s small but fast & has learned various dangerous pinning combinations. She could prove to be a danger even to veteran wrestlers if they underestimate her. She’s definitely one to watch.

Up up girls - (アップアップガールズ [プロレス]) - This is a group of 3 relatively new pro wrestlers (Miu Watanabe, Hikari Noa and Raku) who are also an idol group. They stem from the full time Idol group of the same name however they have limited interaction with each other & do not share any of the same hits. The pro wrestling version of the Up Up Girls was created primarily by the DDT group & consists of 3 girls who each wear one of the 3 colors, pink, blue & yellow. They all debuted in a tag team match at the 1/04/2018 Kourakuen Hall show with another member who has since left the group. They've shown a tremendous amount of growth over the last year. On New Year’s Eve 2018 their ring names were updated to how they currently appear.

Finisher: Teardrop (Running bearhug into a flapjack)

Signatures: Canadian Backbreaker drop, Giant swing, Swinging bearhug into a backbreaker, Home run Axe handle, Laser beam (overhand pitch palm strike)

Miu is the pink Up Up Girl. She was a softball player in high school & is the strongest of the group. Miu is seen as the leader of the group & is also one of the hardest working at training & practice. With Miu’s softball background & intense weight training, she has established herself as the group’s powerhouse, often performing impressive feats of strength & rag dolling opponents during matches. Miu’s hard work has helped push up the card. She is the first of the Up Up Girls to hold a championship in Tokyo Joshi. She also brings the most energy to their idol performances. She is a self-professed idol otaku & will follow & attend shows of numerous other idol performers when not working or training.

Notable Matches:

Miu VS Yamashita - 6/27/2018 ShinKiba. Special Up Up Girls VS Veterans Challenge match

Watanabe VS Nodoka – 5/25/2019 Kitazawa Townhall. Princess Cup 6 Round 1 match

Finisher: Cobra twist (variations), bridging jackknife pin

Signatures: Dropkick, Overhead Uranage

Hikari is the blue Up Up Girl. She has liked professional wrestling since she was a child & has always wanted to become a wrestler. Of the Up Up Girls, she is considered a genius wrestling student. Increasing her technical skill quicker than the others. Adopting a more metal persona, Hikari has become the technician of the three. She has created a formidable tag team with Natsumi Maki called Pandemic BOO BOO. Under Natsumi’s tutelage, Hikari has developed pinpoint dropkicks, a wide array of pinning techniques. Though her out of ring demeanor is mild & meek, inside she completely transforms into a vicious & aggressive competitor. Through this she has earned a solid place in the Tokyo Joshi mid-card with multiple title opportunities. Her current goal is to have a deathmatch of some kind.

Notable Matches:

Hikari VS Nakajima - 6/27/2018 ShinKiba 1st ring. Special “Up Up Girls VS Veterans” challenge match

Hikari & Miu VS Sakazaki & Mizuki - 11/17/2018 – Princess Tag title match

Debut: 1/4/2018

Championship history: None.

Finisher: Doctor Yellow (running into a swinging neck breaker)

Signatures: Brain chop, Kagayaki (slingblade) Oyasumi Express, Oyasumi nasai fall, Oyasumi sleeper, Russian leg sweep, Running cross chop.

Raku is the yellow Up Up Girl. She is a huge train otaku & has developed offense that reflects her interest. Her arsenal of “Oyasumi” sleepy-time attacks is to be feared. She's also developed several strong chop attacks. She often convinces tag partners to assist her in the “Oyasumi Express” technique, adding greater damage to the move. She is soft spoken but has become a favorite of Tokyo Joshi fans. While probably considered the weakest of the Up Up Girls, she is showing improvement and will no doubt continue to do so. Raku probably has the purest babyface aura in Tokyo Joshi & her underdog matches make it impossible not to cheer for her. She was able to finally capture a win on her own in a tag match but she has yet to obtain a win in singles competition. She wants to be like famous idol Atsuko Maeda.

Notable Matches:

Raku & Mizuki VS Saiki & Kobashi - 2/10/2019 – Seijo Hall Tag match

NEO-Biishikigun - NEO美威獅鬼軍 – NEO-Biishikigun is the ultimate heel stable in Tokyo Joshi. Established by Saki-sama in early 2015 NEO-Biishikigun has gone through multiple incarnations but all have the same goal: To rid Tokyo Joshi of all its ugliness and bring beauty and grace to the promotion. This ugliness, perceived by Saki-sama includes most of the matches and performers in Tokyo Joshi. NEO-Biishikigun have no problems using any underhanded tactics and will spare no expense to further their activities. Cheating, mind games, insults, bribery, even kidnapping have all been used in the name of their mission statement.

Saki-sama (沙希様)

(Red rose of Paris)

Heel oh my god so heel. Heel heel heel heel heel. The only way she could be more heel is if she hit her opponents in the face with roses.

Twitter (run by her head maid Baaya)

Main Eventer

Height: 174 cm.

Birthplace: Rome, Italy.

Current Residence: Paris, France.

Debut: July 1999 at a Parisian Masquerade ball

Championship history: Princess Tag Champion (2x) (with Azusa Christie x1, with Misao x1).

Finishers: Academy Award (running bicycle face kick), YSL, Triangle arm choke

Signatures: Versailles type foot choke, Oscar Lock. Big boot, Apron Punt kick, hitting opponents in the face with roses.

Saki-sama is the ultimate heel boss of Tokyo Joshi & the leader of NEO-Biishikigun. She is a French aristocrat who has come to Tokyo Joshi because she had seen the promotion, its events & wrestlers & could not stand their dirty, ugly way of fighting. She intends to fix it. Being a rich debutante, she has access to resources well beyond the rest of Tokyo Joshi staff including planes, limos, helicopters, top of the line health care & more. Saki-sama looks down on practically all of the Tokyo Joshi roster & staff, often showing her distain for them by insulting them or calling them things she thinks they resemble. For example, Miyu is a Pelican, Yuka a Cockatiel, Nodoka a pig, Miu as a weed and so on. Moron is the most common way she refers to GM Koda. However, if she does happen to see a glimmer of potential or beauty in a wrestler she has been known to take them under her wing whether they like it or not. Saki’s height, ability & use of dirty tactics make her an extremely formidable foe & one of the strongest members of the Tokyo Joshi Roster. Few, including Miyu have been able to best her. Also of note, she is in no way related to DDT pro wrestling’s Saki Akai. While they may look similar, it is complete coincidence.

Notable Matches:

Saki-sama VS Yamashita - 1/04/2017 Kourakuen Hall. Saki Sama Triumphant Parisian singles match,

Saki-sama VS Takigawa - 11/23/2017 Shinjuku FACE. Singles match

Saki-sama VS Watanabe - 2/23/2019 Shinjuku FACE. Singles match

Other Biishikigun members

Misao (操) - Misao was Saki-sama’s loyal knight and guard. She believed that strength is everything and that to lose is a fate worse than death. She reviled weakness believing that the weak were undeserving of a voice and deserved only suffering. She mercilessly enacted Saki-sama’s will

Yukio Saint Laurent (ユキオ・サンローラン) – Saki-sama’s genius family doctor. Yukio occasionally accompanies Saki-sama to the ring to fight or for moral support. He is a competent wrestler but the real danger in facing him is the various syringes he keeps on his person. At any time, he might inject his opponents causing any number of reactions from unconsciousness to berserker rage.

Masa (マーサ) – Saki-sama’s bright eyed 8-year-old maid. She came into Saki-sama’s employ because she was lost. Saki-sama gave Masa a home while they searched for her parents. Masa finally found her parents and returned to them but she still occasionally assists Saki-sama when the need arises. She is never without her favorite mop.

Azusa Christie (アズサ・クリスティ) – Saki-sama’s brainwashed acolyte. Wanted to help spread the word of Saki-sama throughout Tokyo Joshi

Yoshiko-sama (世志琥様) – Saki-sama’s shy childhood friend.

Dr. Hayashi (ドクター林) – A ring doctor that Saki-sama payrolled to help her with various underhanded deeds.

Ai Shimizu (清水愛) – Saki-sama’s first attendant. Discontinued her service when the first iteration of Biishikigun disbanded.

KANNA (KANNA) – Saki-sama’s second attendant. Discontinued her service when the first iteration of Biishikigun disbanded.

PipipipiPinano (ぴぴぴぴぴなの / ヒナノ)

(Up Up Girls color: Purple)

Debut: 1/4/2018

Pinano was the 4th member of the Up Up Girl team. Her color was purple yet her final costume was a variety of colors. Though not terribly strong, she was the more comedic element to the Up Up Girls team often resorting to ridiculous spots and crying during many of her matches She expressed interest in doing work as a voice actress. She was close with Hikari and they were often seen together outside of shows. After only 14 months and to the surprise of many, Pinano graduated on 3/5/2019.

Championship history: Princess Tag Champion (with Saki-sama).

Finishers: Broadcaster (Full Nelson Russian leg-sweep)

Signatures: Superkick, Face-buster, Codebreaker.

Azusa was a wrestler whose dream was to become a TV announcer. She was arguably the best promo cutter in Tokyo Joshi. She was most famously kidnapped and brainwashed by Neo Biishikigun, working as Saki Sama’s loyal disciple “Sister Azusa Christy” during which time she was able to become a Princess tag champion. After breaking from Neo Biishikigun Azusa decided that it was time to retire. She graduated the promotion on 10/27/2018 and currently works as a staff member and regular MC of various DDT programs.

Takigawa VS Tokyo Joshi - 10/27/2018 Shin Kiba 1st Ring – 1 VS 16 special graduation handicap match

Maho Kurone (黒音まほ) - Maho was super popular among the foreign fans of Tokyo Joshi. She was a black metal girl who eventually became a Zombie. Extremely talented, committed and fun to watch. Her sudden retirement due to medical issues was extremely unfortunate.

Chikabe Kiba (木場千景) - Branded herself as a submission specialist, Chikabe was one of the original 3 members of Tokyo Joshi. After she entered university her appearances were fewer and fewer. Eventually she realized she would not be returning to wrestling and resigned from Tokyo Joshi.

Nonoko (のの子) – Nonoko is the originator of devastating breast techniques. Major rival for Miyu over the years. Member of tag teams “Super Bust Deluxe”, “Konkatsugun” and “Super Boob Combo”. Graduated from the promotion 2/3/2018.

Ai Shimizu (清水愛) – Trained by Hikaru Shida, Ai was a popular voice actress turned wrestler who joined Tokyo Joshi in its early years. She was a popular member and brought many new fans to the promotion. In 2016 she married DDT ring announcer Mic Inoue and after a few more matches became inactive. She continues to do voice work and can occasionally be found working at DDT’s bar “Swan dive”. Her last match in Tokyo Joshi was 1/4/2017.

KANNA (KANNA) – One of the original members of the promotion. Another major rival for Miyu. Former member of Biishikigun. Minor part of Poison Sawada Julie’s plot to turn the members of Tokyo Joshi into snake people. Graduated with the goal of becoming a rapper. Graduated 9/22/2016.

Mizuho (MIZUHO) – Tokyo Joshi’s super sexy wrestler. Issues with constant dizziness forced her to retire. No official graduation.

Erin (えーりん) – Cute slim idol. Retired due to reoccurring foot fracture. No official graduation.

Saki Akamiya (赤宮サキ) – Mysterious school girl trying to defeat the forces of evil. Formed an alliance with Hyper Misao. Defended Tokyo Joshi against Poison Sawada Julie and his forces. After her battles she mysteriously disappeared.

Saki Akai (赤井沙希) – DDT wrestler that lent her talents to the Tokyo Joshi roster during its early development in 2014. Still occasionally appears in Tokyo Joshi and will face or team with talent in cross promotional events. Has a 100% win record in Tokyo Joshi. Not to be confused with Saki-sama (of whom Akai is a huge fan).

Other Staff

Sanshiro Takagi - President and founder of DDT. Will often appear suddenly in Tokyo Joshi to announce big events or make matches.

Tetsuya Koda - Tokyo Joshi Pro’s General Manager. Koda can always be found at Tokyo Joshi events. He is usually seen sitting at the announcers table. He will often introduce new talent, announce upcoming special events and is usually the person Tokyo Joshi members go to request matches or changes. He also frequently gets beaten up if said members don’t get their way. He is a 3-time DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion and an avid Morning Musume fan. Maki also forced him to become the manager of the Itoh Respect Army for a time.

Sayuri Nanba - Tokyo Joshi Pro’s Ring announcer. Sayuri was introduced at Yuki’s replacement. Her debut as the announcer was at the 5/03/2018 Kourakuen Hall Show.
