Super Junior World Tour – “Super Show 7” in Singapore

“Super Show 7” was a tiring affair.

How could it not be when it was 3 hours long and during the whole time, you just want to sing along, tap your feet to the music (or dance if you are lucky to have the space), laugh to the Super Junior members’ jokes and antics, and scream whenever your bias appeared (even if it was only in the videos)?

“Super Show 7”, as expected of any Super Show, was fun. Especially the members’ banter. This time around, the focus was on Singapore’s famous dish – chilli and pepper crabs. Heechul started it when he mentioned having the famous dish the night before, and Eunhyuk immediately jumped on it. It was mentioned several more times during the concert.

Super Junior also made an effort to speak more in English. Siwon has always been their representative to address fans in English, but notably, Donghae also spoke more in English this time around. What’s commendable is that Eunhyuk even made an attempt to speak in Singlish!

For “Super Show 7”, there was more focus on group rather than individual and unit performances. In fact, there were only group performances and no individual and unit performance. Performance and vocals-wise, Super Junior didn’t disappoint even though they had to cover for the members who couldn’t be part of the concert tour.

There were a few individual spotlights though, like Eunhyuk’s dance solo before Scene Stealer, Donghae’s live piano introduction for 비처럼 가지 마요 (One More Chance), Heechul’s drum solo during Sorry Sorry, and Siwon playing DJ before Let’s Dance.

I also sensed more sentimentality than usual for this show. The concept for the show is saying: “Super Junior has always been by ELFs’ side during good times and bad, and Super Junior will continue to be with ELFs forever”. There was a segment in the concert where Leeteuk read a letter to fans and it’s nice to see that a part of the letter was specifically addressed to Singapore fans.

I’m grateful that Singapore was the first overseas stop for the “Super Show 7” world tour, and that the Super Junior members gave their all for the concert even though they must be really tired juggling their individual and group schedules outside of this world tour.

I’ll be looking forward to the next Super Show. In the meantime, I’ll just reminisce as I look back at the photos from “Super Show 7” in Singapore.

For those of you attending the next “Super Show 7” stops, don’t leave immediately after the concert. Stay a while more for a little surprise. I won’t the cat out of the bag but it’ll be interesting.

Outtake: The Super Junior members really love Singapore’s chilli and pepper crabs. According to Leeteuk, they went for crabs again after the concert ended.
