Wearing Salem P.D.’s standard issue button-up denim shirt, Xander visits with Sarah and Justin in the interrogation room. Xander implores Justin to believe he is being set up. Justin not only believes it, he’s going to prove it. Hopefully, Harris will explain everything once he wakes up. Sarah interjects if he wakes up. A glib Rafe enters to relay they discovered that $50,000 was transferred to Xander this morning from an offshore account.

As Ava watches Harris through his hospital room window, an officer tells her there’s no loitering. And, since she isn’t allowed in, she needs to leave. When her sob story doesn’t sway him, she gets out her phone to call Rafe. Officer Godfrey informs her Rafe is the one who told him she wasn’t allowed in.

Steve and John compare notes over the phone about their investigation into Tripp and Wendy’s kidnapping. After hanging up, Konstantin enters the Black Patch office to see Steve. He smugly relays he heard Tripp didn’t show up for his shift at the hospital. It’d be karmic justice should something happen to Steve’s son, after standing by as The Pawn killed Konstantin’s daughter.

When Steve claims to have no idea what he’s talking about, Konstantin recounts how Steve was sent with The Pawn to ensure he saw things Victor’s way. Only, The Pawn took that message one step too far and killed Catharina. Even if Steve knew what he was talking about, he asks if Konstantin has proof.

In the interrogation room, Rafe stands akimbo holding a manilla envelope. At the table, Sarah, Xander and Justin warily eye him. Xander is cuffed to a chair.

In the interrogation room, Justin and Xander claim the money is proof Xander’s being framed, but Rafe adds a witness saw Xander running near the Bistro that night. Next, he produces an image (from what looks to be CCTV footage) of a man in running clothes similar to Xander’s, standing over Harris’ body on the loading dock. Justin points out they can’t even see Xander’s face.

Pacing at the hospital, Ava approaches a nurse who emerges from Harris’ room. The nurse won’t give her information because she’s not family.

Wearing a hoodie to disguise himself, Stefan approaches Clyde at the prison yard’s fence. Clyde summoned him there to express his disappointment. Stefan had orders to shoot to kill Harris, yet he’s still alive. Stefan insists he followed instructions, but Clyde shouts, setting up Xander and sending Harris a text from Ava is child’s play. Any third-grader could have done that! Stefan recounts plugging Harris twice. How was he supposed to know Ava was going to show up and get her son to save him? He did exactly as he was instructed, and he did it for Gabi. Clyde assures him his wife is still breathing… for now.

Wearing a hoodie over his head, Stefan stares grimly ahead. Behind him, Clyde regards Stefan from behind a prison yard fence.

At the station, Rafe wonders who would want to frame Xander and why. Xander muses it’s one of the DiMeras, explaining how he confronted Stefan after receiving a distorted message (he assumed was from EJ) to kill someone. After Rafe agrees to consider that Xander might have been set up, he leaves. Justin vows not to give up fighting for Xander, but warns they may have a tough road ahead.

After Justin leaves, Xander tells Sarah he wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to get away from all this. He loves her. She and Victoria are everything to him, but he wants her to be happy, not burdened by the fallout of the bad choices he’s made. He’ll understand if she wants to start a new life without him.

In the Black Patch office, Konstantin purses his lips while confronting John. Behind Konstantin, Steve observes with a stressed expression.

At Black Patch, Konstantin admits he didn’t witness his daughter’s killing, but when he woke up after an attack, he saw her lying on the floor. And before he was attacked, he was with Steve and The Pawn, who he knows is John. Though he didn’t see his face, he will never forget those murdering eyes. Steve emphatically states what happened had nothing to do with them. Konstantin declares he will not rest until he avenges his daughter’s death.

John enters, wondering what the hell is going on. Konstantin brings up Catharina’s name. John’s never heard of her, and has never seen Konstantin before he came to Salem. Konstantin assures him he’ll remember everything about Catharina all in good time. When Konstantin makes a veiled threat against Tripp, Steve throws him out.

Upon relieving Godfrey in Harris’ hospital room, Rafe sees Ava through the window. He walks out to tell Ava she shouldn’t be there — for her good and for Harris’. Ava accepts that, but begs him to let her see him. Rafe relents.

At the prison yard, Stefan asks about Tripp. Clyde says if he had anything to do with his abduction, it’d be for insurance purposes, considering Ava’s gone soft. If Tripp’s gone missing, it’s all on her. Stefan asks if Ava knows what Clyde needs from her. “If she doesn’t, she soon will.” Stefan defends Ava to Clyde, who suggests he go back to Salem and make sure she stays loyal. He also warns that if Harris regains consciousness, Stefan better make sure he loses it again — permanently this time.

At the hospital, Ava lovingly smiles at a comatose Harris.

As Ava sits with Harris, she recalls how he’s had her back right from the start. He has loved her like no one else has. She loves him for that, along with so many other reasons. She can’t lose him. After she presses her lips to his, his eyes open.

In their office, John wonders what Konstantin’s motive was to come there. Steve can’t waste any more time on him with Tripp missing. John understands and reports that while Wendy and Tripp were seen the night of the geocaching event, there’s no useful intel.

In the Square, Konstantin plots to use the temple card on John. He’ll play him like a fiddle until all his strings are broken. Once all his tasks are completed, John will pay the ultimate price for what he has taken away from him.

In the interrogation room, Xander presses his forehead to Sarah's. His eyes are closed and her hand rests on his face.

In the interrogation room, Sarah admits there was a time she would have thought Xander was guilty, but the Xander that she knows and loves today wouldn’t risk throwing away his life with his daughter. Or with her, Xander adds. Sarah believes and trusts him. So, no, she will not run away from him. She’s with him no matter what. He embraces her.

In a suit and tie, Stefan finds Ava at the hospital. She excitedly tells him Harris woke up and Rafe’s with him right now. In Harris’ room, Rafe tries to get Harris to reopen his eyes and asks him to squeeze his hand. Harris’ thumb moves, and his eyes slowly re-open. The nurse comes out to Ava and confirms Harris is waking up. Ava excitedly hugs Stefan, who looks decidedly less happy.
