The unbelievable story of the rise, fall and ultimate redemption of the legendary pitchman for the Ford Bronco.
you know what folks let’s be real here; Walton Goggins is an impeccable treasure we’re lucky to have in this fucked hellscape busted simulation of a world we’re trapped in. I don’t care if this was basically a comedy sketch car commercial, I just wanted a dose of good Goggins, and by nick cave, did I get it.
Walton Goggins is here to thrill,
Just as "John Bronco" is sure to shill.
A bit of history,
Into a mystery,
Drink apple juice because O.J. can kill.
Was expecting a pretty funny mockumentary, but got a 37 minute ford commercial instead.
So, this is a thing because there is a new Ford Bronco? It’s like a Gary Sanchez Production that’s not funny. KFC is doing something like this with Lifetime, too. This trend needs to die. What a waste of time.
Also, bullshit like this shouldn’t be on Letterboxd. It’s just an advertisement.
Need a great 37 minute laugh? Just tune in this brilliantly hilarious mockumentary. I love this kind of thing (This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, etc.) and this one is primo. Only wish it would have been longer. Dennis Quaid, Tim Meadows, Bo Derek are all - especially great- in this. Making my Best of 2020 for sure!
♪♪ Mama, she named me Bronco ♪♪
i mean i don't even have a driver's license, but i would buy a Bronco if Walton Goggins told me to
Walton Goggins is a National Treasure, hopefully Nic Cage won’t steal him.
I love me some Goggins so I attended the virtual screening for this (quarantine, so why not?). There were a few parts that made me giggle but it was really just because it was Walton Goggins. Honestly it’s just a long-ass ad for Ford. Rewatch Righteous Gemstones instead.
Walton Goggins rules.
This is pretty much like if Anchorman and Winnebago Man had a baby, and I’m not mad about it.
A couple of solid laughs thanks to Walton Goggins and Tim Meadows, but this is basically a 37 minute Ford commercial.
“Somebody shoulda stopped him getting in that Bronco.”
“Weren’t you his manager?”
“And your point is?”
John Bronco is a charming and diverting mockumentary about a fictional cowboy marketing icon. It’s very broad and fairly shallow, which is a shame given that the subject feels like it could be mined to better satirical effect.
Still, a game cast, a warm nostalgia and a collection of amusing jokes help the mockumentary to just ease by. There’s something in the idea that Walton Goggins is so perfectly suited to playing a cowboy that he can even play a cowboy pitch man.
