Detailed Reviews
From the moment you step into the reception area, you feel welcome. Our room was clean, well maintained, had an aircon and the basics for self catering. Big comfortable beds in spacious rooms. Tea, coffee, long life milk and some nice rusks to enjoy in the comfort of your room. The bathroom was super clean, stocked with enough, clean towels. Body lotion, shower gel, shampoo, hand sanitiser, hand wash and even a litlle jar with bath crystals and bottle of bubble bath. Added touches of bottles water and chocolates in the fridge showed that attention to detail and comfort is key with Country Park Lodge. The continental breakfast was well presented with a big variety and selection of tasty foods offered. It is so beatiful seeing the Impala grazing in the "veld" when sitting on your verandah outside your room. We were quite a big group of guests staying over, some from overseas, and everybody agreed that we enjoyed our stay there.

Country Park Guest House is situated as the name says in the outskirts of Jo'burg. It is clear that this guest house has known better times before Covid. There is lot to pick up the pace again and improve to (the old) standard. The fact that it is not possible to have breakfast at all is one of them. A welcome brochure could also help to have some information on arrival especially then when you just arrived and not had a chance to pick up a local phone card to use the G4 network and no info available about wifi password. Management was not on premises in the evening and could not be reached by sms. Housekeeping could also do better on cleaning and refill of at least milk, rusk and morning coffee sticks. Here and there some maintenance was needed. Host Elmarie was friendly and helpful and the location is having a nice wide view. Terrace is very wide but provides no privacy between rooms. Premises & pool is well kept and is a combination between (long term) camp place and guest house. So its time to make some improvements.

Rented a cottage at the Country Park. Great little place within easy distance of the main attraction in the Cradle of Humaankind.
As it was winter, the small swimming pool went unvisited, but it looked fine.
Nearby, the restaurant, Yetta's Kitchen, is really worth a visit.

Not recommended! While the venue is clean and fairly well fitted, it is not geared for the travellers of today.
There is no wifi without getting a voucher ... old school, and not explained to guests.
The was no hot water, and they answer is 'load shedding' Today this is no longer an acceptable answer, besides load shedding is only 2 hours, it should not have an impact the geysers .. the lodge should should take care of this.
No 'local' info on the area re restaurants etc, especially considering there is no food available at the lodge.

Had the occasion to Camp there during Easter 30th March 2018. Campsite was well grassed with electrical points and there was a central "Boma" It is a campsite that is not commercialised therefore don't expect the usual hordes of kids. There was a small swimming pool. The ablutions were kept clean. There are Chalets for hire separate from the campgrounds. The road to Country Park has a few "pot holes" at the start. the site has electric fence and gates. Close to Garden World.

Good day Kennedy Thank you for taking the time to review our campsite at Country Park. You quite rightly said that it is not a commercialised campsite, as we provide a convenient overnight facility for visitors to Johannesburg and the surrounds. We look forward to a new access road from Beyers Naude drive if the planned upgrading of the M5 route will continue, hopefully sooner than later. We trust to see you again in the future Kind regards - The Country Park Team

Our arrival unexpected, as the on line booking agents a
Had not pass on our booking. But we could not have been made more welcome. We were very comfortable in our room which had many unexpected extras, all with a exceptional view of rolling open countryside. First class breakfast set us up for our day's touring. I would recommend the Country Park to anyone who needed a stress free, relaxing stay.

Hi Jww2519 Thank you for your generous review of our facilities and your experience here. Technology is advancing fast and it requires a juggling to keep up to date with all the booking engines on the web - we have managed to iron out our notification system with the particular online booking agent and trust that we will be more prepared to welcome our guests! We are delighted to learn that you enjoyed the breakfast. Thank you for your willingness to recommend the Country Park Guest House to others Kind regards The Country Park Team

I stayed in the Country Park caravan park with my motor home a few years ago, and I looked greatly forward to returning - and I have not been disappointed! It is a wonderful spot - I love it! Quiet with wonderful birds and some game in the front paddocks and very well maintained. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the ablutions are always spotless and in good condition - with plenty of hot water! It is a lovely place! Thank you!
