Abigail follows a group of criminals – played by Dan Stevens, Melissa Barrera, Kathryn Newton, and the late Angus Cloud– who kidnap the ballerina daughter (Alisha Weir) of a powerful figure for ransom, before discovering her deadly, blood-sucking nature.

The film originally debuted on movie aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes with an 86% rating. It's since dipped to a still-impressive and certified fresh score of 84%.

We gave Abigail four stars at the time of its release, calling it "the bloodiest movie of 2024 and one of the year's most bloody entertaining horrors too".

"Like Ready or Not and their Scream outings, Radio Silence are less interested in scaring the shit out of you and more in ensuring you have a great time," we said in our review.

"There are jump scares early on, but this is more of a crowd-pleasing horror outing that messes with the genre in the same way that Abigail likes to play with her food."

Discussing how Abigail stands our from other vampire movies, Weir told Digital Spy: "What I think is so funny and what makes Abigail so different is at the start, you just think she's a little girl, but she's been living centuries and been doing this all the time. I think that's what makes Abigail so different and special and so amazing to get to play her."

Abigail is available to buy or rent in the US from Prime Video, while a UK digital release date is yet to be announced.
