Feist – The Reminder

I have two copies of this album. One is 180g and the other 140g. The 140g exact same except NO S-65309 & S-65310.

This record is so warped and off center that it makes whooshing and crackle sounds. It's also terribly mixed and mastered. It's al all around terrible sounding record, but the songs are still good.

Bought brand new sealed and as others have noted, very dirty vinyl even after cleaning. Skips constantly. Poor quality control on this pressing. Sad for such a beautiful album by Feist.

Bought this with some trepidation given the pretty awful reviews. However, apart from being nearly impossible to remove from the sleeve due to to static my pressing is flawless and actually really enjoyable. It has a very analog sound, warm without being dull, lively without being too harsh or tinny. Just upgraded stylus to an ortofon 20 and the mids are definitely more noticeable. I had also forgotten just how excellent an album it is. So i would reccommend it if you can find a cheap one.

Was this reissued again, recently? I bought it as new stock this year and the 2007 version is the only one that seems to match.

Buyer beware...I got a sealed one of these and the last song on side A had something inside the vinyl to cause skipping. I got a replacement. It close to the same spot has the same issue. Bad quality control on this pressing. Sad because beyond that it sounds very good.

I'm not gonna complain about the sound quality - it's not that bad. What I will complain about is the quality control with this release. At first glance, it looks fine (the transparent red hides flaws well). But after playing it, it is easy to hear how dirty the vinyl is. There are also a coupe of skips that may or may not go away after cleaning (one is being caused by visible glue or something on the surface). I am going to clean this later and see if it helps. I will update here...

*** UPDATE *** Cleaning did not fix the skipping issue. Turns out the visible mark is not glue, but some kind of manufacturing defect. Looking to get a replacement. ☹

*** UPDATE 2 *** Got a replacement copy. Totally satisfied. So glad the defect on my first copy isn't something that applies to all presses from this batch. Buyer beware - but if you get a good one, well worth it.

Terrrible sound quality and noisy vinyl. Great music severely compromised by a lousy pressing, brittle overly bright mastering. I purchased this new/sealed, yet it looks handled, has scuffs AND it even skips (a problem I almost never encounter with my TT and cartridge)! Feist deserves better!

Really pretty shade of red/transparent pink! Sound quality isn’t great but I’ve heard that most pressings of this album aren’t too good so I’m not complaining, lol

My copy has a textured cover - are they all like this?
