World Changer: A Mother's Story: The Unbreakable Spirit of US Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn

Rate this book
On August 6, 2011, thirty American soldiers aboard Extortion 17 perished in the single greatest loss of Navy SEAL lives. Among them -- Aaron Carson Vaughn, a small-town boy who grew up in the hills of Tennessee and lived a life larger than most.
Told through the eyes of Karen, Aaron's mother, this tender story of faith, family, and love grips the heart and shows how one family raised an American warrior filled with courage, tenacity, and patriotism. The Vaughn's story is not one about war or about a grieving family, but rather one of triumph and God's sustaining grace.

Woven throughout Karen's story is practical advice for today's parents. Also included at the end is a study guide for those who desire to go deeper and learn how to raise children who live life so well that they leave a legacy.

An incredibly emotional, gut checking story of a true American hero, Aaron Vaughn as told by the person who knew him best. His Mother. I felt every single emotion she poured into page after page of this beautiful family's life. I don't think I've ever cried so much reading a story. I had to stop reading it at one point as I was outside in a crowded area at lunchtime and I was sure people thought something tragic was happening in my life. This book has truly left a mark on me and so has the name, Aaron Vaughn. This is a must read for everyone to understand what makes our bravest and most heroic do the things they do. Aaron Vaughn and his family made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and I for one am eternally grateful. I will always stop what I'm doing on Aug 6th and say a little prayer in memory a remarkable man.

I appreciated the perspective this memoir gave me. To experience the life and death of a soldier from the families viewpoint was not only touching, but motivating for me. World Changer is an engaging and eye-opening read.

Can't Stop Crying

I can't stop crying after reading this wonderful book about this wonderful man raised by this wonderful family. I'm the spouse of a 30 year Air Force Veteran and have no children and can't even imagine how one would get through this. Not once did she mention who was responsible for this or the investigation, only her wonderful life. We all know who outed Seal Team VI. Nothing more is needed to be said.

WOW. An INCREDIBLE true story about a US Navy SEAL who overcame struggles and ended up being one of the best of the best. He was extremely humble and strong in his faith the entire way. This story tells about his upcoming and sadly, his death. However his legacy lives on, touching many hearts. As a fellow military veteran (not nearly as bad a** as the SEALS) I know what it’s like to sacrifice part of my life on a deployment to fight for my country. But unlike Aaron, I made it home to my family. And I do not take that for granted. Ever. Aaron paid the ultimate sacrifice, but like the book says, he would have gladly done it again because he loved his country and knew he was protecting both his family and America. I would recommend this book to anyone it was amazing and touched my heart greatly 💜 🇺🇸 ✝️

This book is life changing! Even though the story is quite tragic the book is filled with hope and faith. I have a renewed love for the country I live in. I have a new appreciation for the sacrifice of so many to keep our country free. I am inspired to be a better person and live my life to the fullest. I think this is a book we all should read. It will change your life. The book is very clean and beautifully written.

What an amazing story of the life of Aaron Vaughn as told by his mother with inserts from his father. This is a story of patriotism, love, and hope. It’s also about God’s promise of eternity with other believers and that is the ultimate act of love! Arron Vaughn was one of those heroes who gave it all so we have the freedom to live our life worthy of his sacrifice.

While the writing was okay, I guess I was expecting something with more of a story line than a diary. The sacrifice this family made was truly enormous and the work they are doing to try and raise awareness of the pathetic conditions under which our military serve is crucial.

Heartbreaking yet uplifting

....If that makes sense. You will feel their pain but also feel uplifted reading about their faith in God. The story of a true hero and the family he leaves behind.

Riveting.

Karen did an exceptional job describing Aaron. My heart aches for her loss. Parents need to actively parent their children.

I read this beautiful tribute through watery eyes. Thanks to Karen for sharing her son's story. Be sure to read the entire book - there is so much info I took from this as I raise two young men.
