After the phenomenal success of last 18 months,could Tony prove he is more than a one song man?This album of cover versions shows there is more to him than 'Amarillo'

His version of 'Moon river' is stunning.It is such a beautiful song that needs to be treated with respect.Full marks to him for that.

Other ones which stand out are'You're got a friend','This guy's in love with you','People will say we're in love' and the one I would pick as a single release,'The more I see you'.

One of the things I didn't like was some of the guitar work was a bit long winded,especially on 'Relight my fire'

The decision to include'Every breath you take',Life on Mars'and 'We've only just begun'has been the difference in this being a good album as opposed to a great one.

I doubt whether it will win him many new admirers,but it will certainly excite and please his existing army of fans.

Its` been a long wait but here at last is Tony Christie`s new uk album of new material for 30 years.A great selection of songs compliment Tony`s mellow tones.Ther are 14 tracks with one or two surpise choices.My Funny Valentine stands out, also Light My Fire and Stranger In Paradise.Bowie`s Life On Mars is given the Christie treatment.A couple of songs from Tony`s live shows The More I See You and This Guy`s In Love With You.Tony has always used world class musicians and this album is no exception with some very classy arrangements from Mr Paul Flush on Piano,guitar legend Martin Taylor ,Dave Adams on drums with Christophe Deuissher on double bass.A fantastic easy listening album just close you eyes and relax.

Simply In Love the long awaited album from Tony Christie.Here is a collection of standards chosen by Tony from his early clubland days Stranger In Paradise to his latest tour material Bowie`s Life On Mars.Every song is given the Christie teatment with wonderful arangements from MD Paul Flush.They are all here Moon River,San Francisco,the haunting My Funny Valentine, the upbeat Light My Fire.A piano and vocal only version of God Only Knows and a very personal version of Danny Boy a family favourite in the Christie household from days gone bye.A beautifully crafted album from a performer who knows his craft .If you buy one Tony Christie album..this is the one to buy.

Für manche Tony Christie Fans mag dieses Album etwas ungewöhnlich sein. Ich bin aber positiv überrascht, denn "Simply in Love" ist die Wucht. Das ist gefühlvoller Jazz vom Feinsten. Wie er Stings "Every Breath You Take" als Jazz-Ballade bringt, ganz große Klasse. Oder den Beach Boys Klassiker "God Only Knows" als gefühlvoll traurig ruhige Ballade. Die 14 Title sind alle ein purer Genuß für ruhige Momente. Bravo, Herr Christie !
