I have only been to Tucson once, but I absolutely loved it. I am looking to go there and attend the University of Arizona and flourish there continuing my education. Something that ha been a dream of mine to finish school at one of the best in the country and I am proud and excited to have that opportunity to do that!
Nice desert scenery, excellent Air Force Museum, “Desert Museum” which is like a zoo. Nice weather most of the year. Astronomers come here for the clear nights. If you like towns with “history”, Tombstone and Bisbee are easy drives. Spanish ruins are close. If you like dry weather, this is almost perfect!
There are fun things to do, especially if you like the outdoors. The nightlife here is not the greatest but if you go downtown there are usually more opportunities for that. Real estate is hit or miss. Depending on what side of town you live on, the price range will vary. I would say that Tucson has some family-friendly parts, but not all of Tucson in my opinion. I believe there could be better quality public schools. Also, Tucson roads can be messy with potholes and cracks. Although the city is fixing some of the roads now it's still pretty rough in most areas. In terms of crime, there are many cases of burglary and theft even in the downtown area. In my opinion, the outskirts of Tucson further away from the city have less crime and better quality schools. But I suppose that applies to most larger cities. Tucson has a severe homeless problem that the city needs to solve. The food here is okay, compared to other Arizona cities I have visited or resided in.
Born and raised in Tucson Arizona, and I enjoy it. I like that there are beautiful hiking trails and beaches a few hours away. I would like to see the homeless population decrease it has sadly increased over the last few years.
I am an international student and I would like to see more diversity and opportunities for international students scholarships to be able to further their studies and promote diversity.
I have lived in Tucson my whole life, this is where i was born. Living here has its pros and cons, the pros are that this is where i have family members as well as my friends, i know Tucson like the back of my hand, i have so many memories here. The cons of living in Tucson is the heat, the heat is terrible in the summers, it gets super hot and sometimes not even being inside with cool air helps, you have to make sure your not wearing clothes that cover you up a lot, another con is i would say the bad memories, which everyone has the good and bad, and a lot of times you would just wanna leave the state or city your are in or you have been in your whole life because you want to get away from those bad memores sometimes.
Schools suck, strong sense of community, too hot, mostly retirees, housing is getting too expensive,
The only think that I don't really like is that it's hot here. The people here are really nice and don't seem to get angry with you. Also that the nightlife here is overall pretty good with the downtown tucson.
I love the many things to do outdoors. I would like to see less homeless people. If something was done about the heavy drug presence, drug trafficking, and homelessness, Tucson would be a much better place to live.
overall I enjoy living in Tucson, there are beautiful sunsets as well as a variety of amazing foods.
I would never recommend anyone move to Tucson, especially if you have kids. The city is spending billions on putting ice rinks in the desert, but refuses to do anything about the drug, crime, or homeless problems. With the amount of guns that have been pulled out on my apartments property, I don't feel safe letting my kids play outside. My kids have had to hear their friend talk about her parent OD'ing in their bathtub. I live right next to an elementary, a middle, and a high school; I have watched so many kids and teenagers get arrested for possession or violence in the last couple years. My car has been broken into multiple times at night over the years. If you live near the college, expect frat parties and drunk college students often. Sure, there are a good things, but they do not outweigh the bad ones and risk they put to your safety. I'm moving my family away from here. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND
Moving here from out of state I truly did not realize how large Tucson is! The city is pretty divided in the terms of finding things to do, you have to pick which "side" you are looking for unless you want to drive 30-45 minutes across town. That has not been too much of an issue for us, as we just plan accordingly and commute times don't seem an issue when compared to where I grew up. I do wish more smaller community events happened or if they're happening, they are advertised more broadly.
Tucson is a city with a lot of personality and southwestern charm! I have lived here the majority of my life and love the access to nature that the city has to offer. There are TONS of amazing hikes in the mountains surrounding Tucson. Some of the most notable include Catalina State Park, Mt Lemmon, Sabino Canyon, Tumamoc Hill, Mica Mountain, Rincon Peak, and all the trails within/near Saguaro National Park West and Saguaro National Park East. The Tucson Loop offers 130 miles of scenic path for biking, walking, and running! Tucson is recognized by UNESCO as The City of Gastronomy because of the region's food heritage and culinary creativity. There is an abundance of amazing restaurants and food trucks to explore within downtown and throughout the rest of the city. Some highlights are Barista del Barrio for breakfast burritos, Baja Cafe, Guadalajara Original Grill, or any of the El Charro restaurants. As Tucson continues to expand the roads need further repairs and construction.
I have lived in Tucson my whole life. I like that we are close to the mountains and there is lots of hiking. The community is wonderful and welcoming.
In general, Tucson offers an excellent living environment, particularly for college students. With the University of Arizona situated at its heart, there is a plethora of activities ranging from campus events, sports games, to vibrant nightlife. However, a notable concern revolves around the city's safety. Instances of gunshots are not uncommon in the neighborhoods surrounding the campus, and there have been reports of on-campus shootings. Additionally, there have been several incidents of attempted abductions targeting students, particularly women. Hence, it is advised to avoid walking alone at any time of the day, even during daylight hours, as precautionary measures are necessary to ensure personal safety. Improved safety conditions in Tucson would significantly enhance my willingness to recommend it as a desirable place to live and explore. Despite its current safety concerns, Tucson undeniably offers an enjoyable living experience worth sharing with others.
Tucson is a great place to live if you love outdoor activities. Plenty of hiking and camping spots, good year-round weather, and close proximity to bigger cities like Phoenix, LA, and Las Vegas. There are also tons of events in Tucson that happen year-round as well.
Tucson lives up to its reputation of being a retirement city. It is slow placed with an older population. However, there are numerous "bad" parts of the city, and homelessness and drug use is visible.
