Beats: 2.0
Not all of P. Diddy's signed artists were a major success and G.Dep is one of them that didn't live up to expectations, which resulted in G.Dep being dropped from the Bad Boy label. Who's to blame anyway? G.Dep while a decent rapper, is a little limited in his range of subject matters, there's only so much ghetto tales you can rap about. He isn't quite the hit maker that Puffy was hoping him to be, although "Special Delivery" did have a moderate amount of success, I don't really see G.Dep's style as rocking the clubs. The album probably would have been better with some grittier beats, I think these would have matched more with the tone of the lyrics. Bab Boy's production team at this point was not what it used to be, definitely a little too clean and lacking in the creativity side also. All of this which results in this album not really pleasing any fanbase, the east coast fans want something a little harder and the mainstream fans well I just don't know what they want but judging from the sales this wasn't it! Child of the Ghetto is simply an overlong album that rarely hits home, it suffers from just too many problems for it to be any good or worthwhile.
