I liked Emmanuel College in Boston for its vibrant campus atmosphere and strong sense of community, which made me feel welcomed and supported. The college's excellent academic programs and dedicated faculty provided a stimulating learning environment that encouraged my intellectual growth. Additionally, its prime location in the heart of Boston offered endless opportunities for cultural experiences and professional networking.
I'm currently enrolled for the 2024 Fall Semester to be a student next year. From what I have seen although, this college really meets their title of being "The Heart of Boston". They sit in such a perfect area in a nice part of Boston that is also not far from Fenway Park itself. Their campus is small but wonderful with very nice classrooms and such a great tight-knit community that anyone can enjoy for themselves. I cannot wait to experience it beyond just scratching the surface of what I have seen and I know it will be great.
My first semester was a big adjustment and not much help was provided in that process and they expected you to understand how to navigate all their resources without any prior knowledge. However after this initial adjustment phase the experience got far better. If you are able to function as a adult and not rely on others for help you should be fine. If you are high maintenance don't come here, you will just be disappointed and upset.
As a first year student at Emmanuel College, I have enjoyed my time here so far! I really love the small community that Emmanuel has to offer. I have had the greatest and most easy going professors, and since our student:faculty ratio is 13:1, I find it incredibly easy to make long lasting connections with them. Emmanuel is also in a great area; Boston is the best college town! There is always so much to do, and I never feel bored or restless. There is so much to explore and so much to learn!
I like the people, but the housing rules and regulations are beyond unnecessary. They say they wanna treat us like adults, but we have so many little rules and policies
Emmanuel College is very nice school and I enjoy my studies and student life. The only problem is that the Program I am taking has limited funding
I see some other negative reviews but a lot of positive ones too. I am on the positive side, and I am thankful I chose Emmanuel as I love the Campus, and the small size of the College makes it easy to manage as well as easy to make good friends. You can just roll out bed and not be late as everything is so close. Don't listen to the negative reviews, the good reviews are more accurate.
Whenever I see a tour of students coming in, I want to tell them to run. Each class at Emmanuel is worth 4 credits, unlike the 3 credit policy and other colleges and universities. This makes it extremely hard to transfer because you have more credits but less variety of classes. Trust me, you will want to transfer!
The academics at Emmanuel are terrible. Most of the information presented in class is stuff I learned in middle and high school. I am not at all challenged academically. The professors would rather teach you their opinion, than valuable class material. Some professors are wonderful, and are truly passionate about their subject. Others, however, blatantly admit they cannot answer your question because they have no idea what they are talking about.
Academic Advising at this school is horrific! I've been given incorrect information on numerous occasions, ultimately hurting my future at the school. I DO NOT recommend this school! They don't care about you! Worst $ spent!

The campus is very small and can have a negative impact on mental health due to this isolating feeling. The classes can be useless in areas but some are very well taught.
I spent most of my time in the science building in these beautiful private glass rooms that overlooked Boston. When I was at Emmanuel they didnt have the big new dorms they have now so I had to live off campus my last three years. Thankfully, it’s Boston so there’s lots of apartments around. The school is located in the Fenway area. I think this is the most fun area of Boston. There’s concerts, lots of food options (of many different ethnicities and pricing), there’s sports games, a track/soccer/basketball/garden/park area. There’s the long wood medical area right behind the school which is a bunch of hospitals so it’s a great area for anyone who wants their kids close to a hosptial for personal or future professional reasons. They also do colleges of the Fenway so you can take classes at Wentworth, MCPHS, massART, or Simmons. I did that and made friends from the other schools that I have kept for almost 10 years now. Emmanuel is a very unique school, I highly recommend it.
Emmanuel is a great school. People who say it's not did not make the most of their time here or properly use the resources around them. The academics are excellent the professors I have had have been great and are very helpful to their students. The city life is enjoyable there is a lot to do and so much around you to experience. The food is very good there are some things you can get that are bad, but you have to know where to go in the dining hall. The grill, stir fry, and pasta station are usually very good options. The dorms are not the best but they are okay, St. Julie's hall is very nice but usually for upperclassmen. Many students also look to live off-campus in the area which is a great option as well. Party life is also good there are many frats in the area and sports teams at Emmanuel have parties sometimes as well. Overall great school experience.
The good and bad part about Emmanuel is how small it is. I enjoy the sense of community, small class sizes, not relying on a car to get to class, and safety. Unfortunately, it exacerbates cliquey behavior, gossip, and nosiness. The dining hall hours are not ideal, but the meals are consistently above average.
A joke. I am transferring this semester after dealing with months of rude faculty, unfriendly students, no mental health help and a lazy excuse for a school. The classes were jokes, I learned the stuff we were learning in middle school. Nonexistent clubs, or social life. Dining hall is not safe for students with allergens, they don’t care. (I have gluten allergy) once saw a girl take the tub of cream cheese from the gluten free section and spread it on a gluten bagel staff watched and did nothing. They even sent me to the hospital by putting gluten food in the gluten section! Everyone sticks with a small group of people and doesn’t branch out, not to mention EVERYONE is from MA and somehow already knows eachother. I could go on and on but I’ll shorten it by saying I knew I wanted to transfer in the first week. They would have people come and do photo shoots for the school with big smiles while everyone else looks lonely and sad. I’m so glad to be getting out of this place.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Emmanuel College thus far. The staff is kind, caring, and connective. Orientation was smooth and the dorms are kept clean and well maintained. The only thing I would change here is maybe the dining hall hours, but other than that everything is nice and calm here!
Not good for job prospects after college, most of my friends are still unemployed (a bit expected for a liberal arts college) main benefit of the school is its location and nothing else. Basically a last resort college for people who just wanted to go to school in Boston and couldn't get in anywhere else.
I have only completed one year at Emmanuel thus far, but I have no complaints about the school itself. The location and physical environment of EC is unmatched in my opinion, giving students the perfect combination of city life and a small campus feel. There is a great range of classes offered and have been perfectly happy with the quality of my classes so far. No matter what school you attend there will always be professors who are less than perfect, and Emmanuel is not exempt from this. For the most part, however, my professors have been relatively flexible and very understanding. I also found it pretty easy to find on campus employment, though hours tend to be limited, but it is usually enough considering the class workload.
It has been a really supportive environment. The small school makes it difficult to join clubs or make friends, which surprisingly has benefitted my GPA by so much. I went from being a 3.4 student to a 3.85 student in a year. It changed my life academically, and the professors have been amazing since day one for me.
