Ever since I moved to Indio, I have had a good experience at Indio HIgh School. The community within the school is very diverse and accepting, which is really nice for me as an LGBTQ+ student. They also have multiple CTE programs and a number of classes that I had never heard of before coming to the area. There are also nice teachers that have definitely made my love for learning come back again. My favorite thing about the school is the technological pathways that they have here and their technical theater class/ theater program. While there is a lot about this school that I enjoy, I have also had some issues in the past. Some of the teachers obviously pick favorites and it shows in the grades of other students. There is also a concerning amount of drug use in the bathrooms. The fire alarm goes off constantly during our passing periods or lunch. I have also had problems with classes being transferred from one school to another. I had to retake Chemistry even after passing last year.
Indio high school is a great place to be for academics and activities. The teachers go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and create a great learning environment. I feel like it gets a bad representation sometimes from other schools or cities, but it truly is a school that strives to make an impact. I will cherish the two year that I spent at Indio high school for my lifetime.
Like any school, there is the fair share of groups that just stick to themselves. I would like to see the school try and find a way to make clubs and teams more inclusive. Even having activities that get everyone involved and feel like they are involved. So that the environment can be more inclusive instead of having particular groups like the sports teams and other teams just staying within their own group.
Just like any school, there are areas where Indio high excels and some areas that fall short. With the staff the at they have, it will only be a short time before they make a positive impact.

My personal experience with Indio High have been amazing most of the teachers are very helpful, patient, and welcoming. The worst part of my high school experince so far at this school was when one of the teachers refused to help the students and when they did help they talked in circles. But enough of that the best part of my time here a Indio High is when I met the ladies in the activities office they make my day and make me look forward to the next. My friends that I met this year are also a really big reason as to why I try so hard in school now.
