Dylan Roth Observer The Sea Beast washes down this heavy thematic material with a playful tone and exciting, well-designed action. Dec 14, 2022 Full Review Catey Sullivan Chicago Reader If you’re going to title your movie The Sea Beast, you need to commit to a beast that earns its billing. Jul 21, 2022 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times At a time when the American studios are struggling to deliver fresh animation, [Netflix] has undercut them with a period epic whose worthwhile lessons are tainted only slightly by preachiness. Rated: 4/5 Jul 12, 2022 Full Review Daryl MacDonald InSession Film The Sea Beast is one of the more surprising movies of the year; feeling like a fresh take on a rapidly staling narrative, with genuinely gorgeous animation and set pieces, and a depth to match its ocean backdrop. Rated: A+ Apr 24, 2024 Full Review Pramit Chatterjee Digital Mafia Talkies The Sea Beast is one of those rare examples where the human characters matter as much as the Kaijus. Rated: 5/5 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Kenneth Seward Jr. GameSpot anyone versed in Pixar or Dreamworks will undoubtedly see those influences here. That fact alone doesn't negate what the film does well though. And it still tells a captivating adventure story using fully realized characters. Rated: 8/10 Jul 19, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Judy It was very cute, I thought i was going to see the beast that is filmed in Africa, by mistake got the wrong ticket. If I had my grandson of 7, I would have enjoyed it more with him. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/04/22 Full Review Andy B A visually stunning piece of animation. The plot is a cross between Moby Dick and How to Train Your Dragon. There is nothing particularly new here, but it is done very well. It falls down, for me, in two places. (1) the comedy accents are awful and sound like the local villages production of Pirates of Penzance. (2) Maisie is just annoying. She’s always right and she just grates. Apart from that, this is an enjoyable family film with big sea monsters. And a cute little one - just for those extra merchandising opportunities . I understand that a sequel is planned - that’s not something that would be unwelcome Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/21/24 Full Review Ryland C For a Pirates of the Caribbean/How to train your Dragon/Assassin Creed type premise. It’s fine. I can see why people love it but honestly for me, it exists. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/11/24 Full Review Alec C In a world where monsters roam the seas, prepare for an adventure that will take you to waters uncharted! As a legendary monster meets a young girl, the two strike an unlikely friendship with a sea monster that shows them that the stories that were told were not true at all. A whimsical and impressive animated adventure, this film gets less credit then it should! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Daryle K The Sea Monster is a brilliant movie. An incredible animation with strong characters and an important message. The young female protagonist is an incredible role model for strength, courage, confidence, compassion and emotional intelligence. This is a must watch. It immediately makes its way into one of the best ever movies and animations. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Georgan G A beautifully animated film. Almost didn't watch it despite the excellent ratings as I hate animal hunting. Watching a little girl of color teach kindness was heart warming.
