Using a switch without a Nintendo Account or Wifi?

Wisdom

I was wondering if I could just use a switch by creating a local account and buying physical copies of games to play them. Will I be forced to add updates if I'm not connected to the internet? I just want to play Skyrim, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley by myself or family without the need for an account or internet connections

I know you need to set up an account on the switch, but I dont believe you need an actual nintendo account or anything online for that. I think all you need to do for that is set a username and pick a profile picture character, then you're good. But I'm not certain, you may have to set up a nintendo account.

If you have physical games, you should be good for the most part. You wont have to update unless you connect online, however you may want to because many games run better with the updates. Also, a few physical games require a download to play, but none of the ones you mentioned, so you should be alright.

There's two different things: a Nintendo account and the Nintendo Online account. The first one is free and the second, you pay for, and is entirely optional. I think you will want the first one when you're online, even if that's only occasionally.

The Switch, of course, is designed to spend extended time offline, so don't worry about that. But the firmware needs to be updated now and again, and a number of games need to be updated, so again, it's probably best to plan for that. Also, there's a lot more games available to you that are only in the Nintendo Store (first account), if you should decide later that you're interested. This means downloading the game, not that you're tied to being online to play it.

If your question is: "Can I get a Switch and never ever connect to the internet?"... again, I think you won't WANT to do that. But I don't know the answer to this question.
