Gareth Southgate has once again divided opinion with his latest England squad, naming his 33-player long list of names that have made it through to boot camp and must now battle it out for a place in the live shows.  Facile as it may be, these squad announcements nowadays seem more and more like Saturday night TV talent shows; whittling it down to the final 26, against the backdrop of typically divided public opinion.  Guiding a team to a first major final in over half a century might perhaps earn a manager a good deal of credit in the bank, yet Southgate's decisions have once again seen swathes of fans throw in their two cents. 

With Euro 2024 fast approaching, nations have begun announcing their squads for the summer tournament in Germany. Broadcasters have followed suit, with the BBC and ITV both confirming their line-ups as they bid to win the ratings battle. Mail Sport revealed that the broadcasters had been battling in the build-up to the tournament to land Jurgen Klopp ahead of his departure from Liverpool.

Liverpool have confirmed that Feyenoord manager Arne Slot will become their coach for the next season, replacing Jurgen Klopp who announced his departure. He will become the 10th coach from the Netherlands to manage a club in the Premier League history, surpassing Man United's Erik ten Hag, the latest on the list. The Reds will pay a minimum of £7.7m for Slot, a figure which could rise to £9.4m, including bonuses, with a contract until 2027. So will he lead the Reds to glory, or fail as many of his compatriots have done on these shores?

The Argentine left Chelsea by mutual consent on Tuesday after just one season, despite guiding them to sixth with a stellar run of form to finish the campaign. It is unclear what are Pochettino's immediate ambitions but with the long-term future of United boss Erik ten Hag uncertain, Pochettino's previous contact with Nice is worth recalling.

England announced their provisional European Championship 2024 squad on Tuesday and plenty of previous players for Gareth Southgate were left bitterly disappointed. Gareth Southgate called up 33 players for the friendlies at St. James' Park and Wembley against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland, which will be whittled down to 26 on June 8.  Interestingly, almost half of England's Euro 2020 group have not been selected.

He is now set for an extended break, and have even teased that he may never return to football, with fans eager to see what his next role will be if he ever does make a comeback. Behind the sparkling eyes, the crew neck and the perfect hair, there's an arrogance, and unlike Pep Guardiola, he doesn't seem to care who sees it.

Freddie Flintoff has put his Top Gear horror crash behind him as he helps England players prepare for their T20 World Cup campaign. The former Cricket star, 46, was in the nets at Headingley, Leeds, on Tuesday ahead of England's warm-up game against Pakistan tonight.  Although his scars from the near-fatal crash 18 months ago are still clearly visible, his injuries seem to be on the mend. 

SAMI MOKBEL: Gareth Southgate has ruthlessly axed Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson from his Euro 2024 squad. The duo, who have 141 international caps between them, were the two shock omissions from the initial 33-man England squad for the tournament in Germany next month. On the omission of Rashford, Southgate explained: 'Other players in that area of the pitch have had better seasons. It's as simple as that.'

It appears, though, that there was a method to his madness, with Slot, who enjoyed several spells for Dutch side PEC Zwolle during his playing career, seemingly catching his opponents off guard.

McKenna has been recognised by the association after guiding Ipswich to promotion back to the Premier League after a 22-year absence this season. It was the club's second successive promotion under McKenna, who having taken charge at Portman Road in December 2021 has emerged as one of the brightest young managerial talents in the English game. Such has been his success that he has been mentioned as a potential target for other clubs including Brighton and Chelsea.

Roy Keane has insisted Manchester United must 'put on a performance' in the FA Cup final despite the Red Devils heading into the match as clear underdogs against rivals Man City. Wembley will host a Manchester derby for the second successive season in the FA Cup final on Saturday. Man City will head into the match on a high after clinching a record fourth consecutive Premier League title.

NATHAN SALT: Man United Confidential has spoken all season of the brilliant talent coming out of the academy at Carrington this season, and it would be remiss to not shine a light on the Under-14s this week after they won the Albert Phelan Cup to become national champions. With Rooney and Carrick on the team-sheet, United fans are now daring to dream of what the future holds with the sons of two icons of yesteryear rising stars in the club's academy. The young pair were instrumental in the final against Millwall at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium, with 14-year-old Kai Rooney scoring a sublime lob to open the scoring in a 2-0 win.

In an age where little goes unnoticed, Darwin Nunez might have known. Liverpool supporters didn't have to be eagle-eyed to spot the £85million forward was the only person inside Anfield not clapping Jurgen Klopp as the departing manager walked through his guard of honour. It didn't help the Uruguayan that Klopp ran back around to pass between the line of players and staff a second time. Still he remained unmoved.
