House Harmony 2024

As the Lent Term came to a close, senior pupils gathered to take part in House Harmony. The acapella singing performance is a chance for boarding houses and day houses to come together and sing for the Senior school. The competition is always highly competitive with every house determined to showcase their musical talent and seize victory.

This year the theme was 80’s music and each house had to pick a song from the era to perform. For Thompson, the boys sang “Let’s Groove” by Earth, Wind and Fire.  Butler girls performed “Slipping Through My Fingers” by Abba while Sheppard went on to sing “Our House by Madness. Girls Boarding sang Wham’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go” which was followed by Boys Boarding who sang The Housemartins’ “Caravan of Love”. Finally Wallace performed “Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics.  The pupils were then treated to a one-off performance as Beaks got on stage to perform Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”.

After a hard-fought lineup, our guest judge Ms Michelle Poh, an international singer and jazz musician announced the winner. The overall winner of the House Harmony 2024 was Thompson, whose synchronised dance moves, rhythm and timekeeping set them apart from the others. The best girls group was Wallace, who was praised for presentation, performance and musical intricacies.
