From the album Boogie With Canned Heat, "On The Road Again" was adapted from Delta Blues songs "Big Road Blues" by Tommy Johnson (1928) and "On The Road Again" by Floyd Jones (1951), also using lyrics from both songs. The Canned Heat song was performed at the festival in Woodstock, NY in August 1969, but failed to be shown in the feature documentary film, Woodstock (1970), which included a generous amount of live footage of memorable concerts performed at the festival. However, it can be seen in a special 2009 40th anniversary edition released on Blu-ray. Originally recorded in September 1967, the song soared as a single on both Billboard and Cash Box at #16 and #9 respectively on October 5, 1968. This is the album version at 5:02, about 7 seconds longer than what is usually documented.
The film introduction, edited slightly for humor, is from Alone In The Dark (1982) starring Jack Palance and Martin Landau. Footage from the Introduction to Mad Max 2 (1981) also appears in the video.
