International Students

The application process is the same for both international and domestic students. However, students whose first language is not English are expected to take an English proficiency exam in addition to the Standard Application Online (SAO).

Stevenson’s preferred English proficiency test is the TOEFL iBT (TOEFL test code is 8081). In some cases, Stevenson will also accept TOEFL Essentials, IELTS Indicator, Duolingo (DET), or TOEFL iBT Home Edition scores if you are unable to take the regular TOEFL iBT. Please note that we will not accept TOEFL Junior to meet testing requirements.

Additional Application Requirements for Students from mainland China: Applicants residing in or attending school in mainland China are required to complete a Vericant interview by January 1 as part of their application to Stevenson. In some instances, the Vericant interview may serve as the only interview for an applicant’s file.

A select group of candidates will be invited to participate in a second interview with a member of the Stevenson Admissions team. An invitation for a second interview will only be extended after a student’s Vericant interview has been reviewed and their TOEFL score report has been received from ETS. Admitted students typically score above 105 (out of 120) on the TOEFL iBT exam. Stevenson’s TOEFL test code is 8081. We do not accept TOEFL Junior to meet testing requirements. Invited students may elect to interview on campus at Stevenson or via Zoom.
