According to Bodensteiner, a member of the NCAA Division I Council’s NIL working group, the decision aimed to strike a balance between collective deals and local business opportunities. Additionally, it was a response to students’ requests for something that would give them more guidance.
Assistance “could include directly contacting businesses and facilitating deals,” said Bodensteiner. “It could include assisting them with legal and tax issues, and all sorts of different ways that we can really help now.”
St. Joseph’s already has a plan on how to help its students.
Last month, the school announced the launch of an improved NIL programming for student-athletes together with Van Wagner, Student Athlete NIL, and the Brandr Group. The program aims to educate athletes on what they need in terms of information and connections to pursue NIL deals.
The collaboration between the groups will officially kick off at the Hawk Hill NIL fair.
