April 24th, 1967 - The Doors release their hit single, “Light My Fire.” At the time, the band needed another single, and Los Angeles DJ Dave Diamond had been telling the group that “Light My Fire” was a hit and needed to be released. The original cut was seven minutes long but needed to be three if it was a single, so Paul Rothchild headed into the studio and came out with an edit three days later. The track hit #1 in the charts by the third week of July 1967.
