Although it's a "Glow in the dark" record, the Lennon Mind Games EP sounds perfect, just like a standard black vinyl record :)

You probably saw my post on the other thread, I'll repeat it here with a couple of additions:

    Alan Parsons, Work in progress:

This RSD resembles the original record however having said that, the songs are fairly different to the final versions. Definitely the title "A work in progress" could not have been more appropriate, indeed this is the album in a half baked stage. Some lyrics are a bit different and there is some babbling going on. In Pyromania they are joking and changed the lyrics in a way some might feel offended, nothing serious I thought it was quite funny.

If you like the album a lot like me, you'll probably like this too as an alternative to listen every now and then. If you are not a 100% fan of the original album, I would probably recommend you to stay away from it, for me it is great and it was a surprise the sound is good as I was expecting something underwhelming but since it is my favorite Parsons record I had to have it regardless of the sound.

Mastering was done by Dave Donnelly and Alan Parsons at DNA mastering California. The record was cut by Barry Grint at AIR mastering.

The vinyl is orange, it has an almost fluorescent touch, its heavy, mine was flat. I thought it was mastered on the louder side but without compromising the dynamic, fairly quiet. The inner sleeve is made of poly lined paper. I am very pleased with this one.

    Gandalf, Gandalf:

Limited edition of 1500 whatever that might mean because this is in lemon grass vinyl, just mid green to me. This is a AAA, Mastered by Kevin Gray on a rainbow Capitol label, not heavy as the Alan Parsons.but equally flat.
Very good sound, I mention this for the sake of completeness but it is nothing to worry about, to me there is some minimal distortion which my guess is can be attributed to the aging source and equipment used at the time. I think it was towards the end of side 1 I thought I've heard there was a drop out, again aging tape? Inner sleeve glossy paper with plenty of writing on it which I haven't read. The quality of the cover left me wishing for a better, more luxurious feel/print but I am very pleased with this one too.

This is the thread where we share feedback about RSD 2024 releases so that flippers can add "SH Forums approved" to their ads on Discogs and eBay. :D

I'll start with a quote from the main RSD thread:

I would be interested in what folk thought of the Doors vinyl.

The more I listen to it, the more I'm enjoying the Rosetta Tharpe record - the mono sound is surprisingly vivid and lifelike. The album has a slow side A, but side B and C really heat up!

    Two thumbs up!! :edthumbs:

I listened to the Talking Heads all the way through and it remained flawless.

I just started The Doors, I am almost through Side One, and that is another good sounding recording. You clearly hear that it is from multitracks. Bernie Grundman mastered.

avoid Five Live Yardbirds! Won't even go into the SQ - just warn you that there's an awful edit into Smokestack Lightning, which isn't even the correct Marquee version... they're using the 1963 Craw Daddy take instead... yanked the LP off the turntable immediately... no reason to finish listening...

Gene Clark No Other Sessions sounds amazing. I have the box set that has these takes on SACD and blu ray. Cool to have them on vinyl. Perfectly flat and quiet pressings. Nice!

I bought the Linda Ronstadt set, Chris Bellman did them all. It’s a bare bones box, much like the recent Stevie Nicks one, but hopefully the records are going to sound great.

My Talking Heads is a bit of a mess. Straight out of the sleeves a lot of debris on the records and patches of non fill noise. Gonna have to be a refund which is a shame because it sounds great.
