Sparks man found guilty of multiple counts in child sexual assault case

RENO, Nev. (KRNV) — A Sparks man who was accused of multiple sexual assault charges has been found guilty.

40-year-old Brandon Smith was found guilty of three counts of Sexual Assault on a Child Under 14 and one count of Lewdness with a Child under 14.

The victim's mother reported to Sparks Police that her 13-year-old daughter told her that Smith inappropriately touched her and forced her to do things to him when the victim was five or six years old.

The victim advocated for herself when she told Smith that he needed to tell her mother about it. In text messages to the mother, Smith admitted to abusing the victim.

Sentencing is set for September 18.
