Kyra Fox sets the tone for her upcoming Peak Securities romantic suspense series with this steamy nail biting prequel I couldn’t put down.

Cybersecurity expert Madeline Jenkins accidentally stumbled on a code that has her in crosshairs of one of the world’s most notorious crime lords and must go into hiding with the help of ex-navy SEAL and almost flame commander Sawyer Abernathy.

I really enjoyed TOUCH OF SECRETS. From the smart, bad@$$ heroine, the surly, stone cold hero, the great banter between Maddie and Sawyer, the sizzling hot chemistry between them and the suspense and mystery behind the unknown bad guy.

Maddie and Sawyer are great together. The unresolved chemistry from their past is still present even though they refuse to act on it. But pretending to get to know one another leads to actual communication and reconnection.

And talk about super-hot sexy times! Kyra Fox is an expert at slow-burn tension creating a blazing hot attraction between the main characters.

Although the book ends with a semi-resolution for the couple, it still a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next books in the series.

Touch of Secrets is a prequel for the Peak Securities series by Kyra Fox. It’s a standalone romantic suspense. It’s told from both points of view with a cliffhanger. Subgenre: second change | women in STEM.

TOUCH OF SECRETS is book 1 and the prequel to the "Peak Securities" series.

It is a quick read that lays the backstory for this series. It ends on a cliffhanger and I am invested in the mystery to wait for the next installment of the series.

Maddie is a bada$$, strong, independent lady who matches her under garments to her shoes and I have a total crush on her. Sawyer appears to be a bit bumbling at times, but there is surely a method to his madness. The two together have a chemistry that is evident from the start.

I enjoyed the secondary characters as well as the setup. It is cleverly written and I will absolutely be re-reading this when the next story is published.

This was a new to me author and one I'll definitely be reading more from including the next book in the series after realizing this was a prequel.
To be completely honest like I always am in reviews, this was almost a 5 star review thanks to the last part, but the first 60% was frustrating for lack of a non spoilery word and then the very last part still left you with questions, that I know other books will probably answer, but for me it felt like the couple in this book deserved to reveal it.
As I'm new to this author's work, I'm sure that there's probably a perfectly logical reason for all of this, and I look forward to eating my words in the future, as the mystery does have me eagerly awaiting the next book..

Another insta-love novel from Kyra Fox!

Maddie and Sawyer leapt off the page from the very start. Talk about chemistry! Witty banter, an intense connection, and mega heat - these characters have it all.

This new prequel novel also has drama, suspense and intrigue as Kyra Fox expertly slides into a new (for her) genre - romantic-suspense. And she did it without skimping on any of the humor, wit, and yummy heat we've come to expect from her books.

I absolutely can't wait for more!

Kyra gives us a suspenseful romance that has you sitting on the edge of your seat. Touch of Secrets is the first book of the Peak Securities series and if this one is any indication of how the series will be, look out because they will have your heart skipping a few beats and your stomach in knots.

Maddie is a cybersecurity specialist comes across a code that raises a big red flag in her books. Well, that is what she is paid for but the problem is that it leads to a well-known crime lord. She doesn't tell anyone except her uncle. The next thing she knows is that she is meeting someone that her uncle sent to protect her. When she sees Sawyer she is fuming at the sight of him. Why? Well, they have a history that did not end well. She doesn't want him around her but she is so drawn to him that she caves. The banter, sexual tension and the fake boyfriend are just too much for her to deal with. When she decides to take matters into her own hands things do not go as planned. Will see that she needs the protection? Can Sawyer break down the walls that she has built around her heart?

Sawyer is an ex-navy seal that is an even better bodyguard and works for Peak Securities. When he receives a call to protect Maddie he is on the case. What he doesn't know is why she seems to hate him. Maddie fights him on everything but his sexy grins, sexual banter and the ways he sneaks touches get her to let him in just a bit. He has always been attracted to this feisty and badass woman but he sees the vulnerable side of her as well. When things don't go as planned, what will Sawyer do? Can he get her to see how dangerous it is for her?

I loved the chemistry and the banter that is between the two of them. They are the perfect match for each other with their sexual connection and trust that finally happens. This story does end in a cliffhanger so we have to wait for the next installment to see what happens to Maddie and where this code leads. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what Kyra has in store for us in the next one.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review. The story starts easy, introducing the characters, what Maddie's job is and the hint of what she stumbles upon in her routine job, the background and connection between Sawyer and Maddie and the rest of the team.

Then more of what Maddie found is revealed and the story picks up and culminates into an adrenaline and heart pounding rush of suspense, trying to find out the identity of the antagonist (who may be high up in the government), whilst trying to stay steps ahead and staying alive.

I was pulled into the story and was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what comes next whilst rooting for Sawyer and Maddie; the chemistry and tension between them was hot and sexy yet sweet too and they are a great match for each other.

The story for the couple ends on a HFN but the main story arc isn't complete and ends on a cliffhanger so you need to read the next part to find who the antagonist is and is likely the only way Maddie will truly be safe. I can't wait to read the next book in this suspenseful series!

I love me a good bodyguard romance. Throw in a second-chance with a touch of the forbidden and I was all in for Touch of Secrets. This being my first read from Kyra Fox, I wasn't totally sure what to expect but the opening sure drew me in.

I liked Maddie. She was smart and independent. Fearless but also a bit reckless. And way over her head with what she uncovered. Enter Sawyer- a blast from the not so distant past that makes her as hot as he does angry.

His hot and cold toward Maddie, pulling her close, lingering gazes and then walking away in the next second frustrated me too. But when push came to shove, he put all his doubts aside to protect her. Especially when the mysterious man pulling the strings made his move. My heart was pounding as everything hung in the balance.

All that being said, I found that there were a few holes in the story overall. Things that didn't quite match up. And maybe I just missed something but there were characters and relationships that were breezed over as if I would know who they were. However, I did enjoy the way this ended. Yes it is a quasi cliffhanger but it is a good setup to feed the rest of the series.

This was my first time reading a book by Kyra Fox and I really enjoyed it. It’s a prequel to set up her upcoming series, Peak Securities, and now I can’t WAIT for that.

The chemistry between Sawyer and Maddie was intense! So hot, it leapt off the page at you. It was insta-love which I adore reading. The banter between the pair was hilarious! Considering there was a lot of suspense it really worked and a part of the book I loved.

Sawyer.. 🔥🔥🔥 Hes an ex-Navy SEAL and Commander and he’s smoking hot! As soon as he gets given his latest job and shown a picture of Maddie he can’t take his eyes off her, even after being ghosted by her after their week together all that time ago.

Maddie. She’s a Cyber security specialist, she loves her job and has no idea what she’s found puts her in grave danger. I loved her ♥️

I now will spend my days checking (stalking) Kyra’s socials, hoping for an announcement for the new series release!🤞🏻

*Just be aware this is a prequel and ends on a cliffhanger*

Thank you Kyra 📚♥️

This was my first book by this arthur and after reading it I'm hooked. I absolutely loved Maddie and Sawyer's back and forth banter between themselves not to mention the nicknames Huckleberry and Techy nerds I tell ya nerds😂 gotta love'em.

Maddie is doing my dream job being a hacker/cyber security lol it pays the bills she's been hired to update a fed banks security to only find someone's been transferring money and as she follows the trail thing's start getting dangerous and the Peak Brother's get involved their special security and send their best agent Sawyer to protect her just one thing though they know each other and things just went from bad to worse.

Will they work things out? Who's the mastermind behind the bank conspiracy? This does end on cliffy, but it's not a bad one. All I know is I want to find out what happens next and who's behind it. I have an idea, but I need more clues like Bk2 please😁

It’s a good thing Kyra is half a world away from me, cause I was throwing a fit at some parts, but also totally would have given hugs at others. Well actually, I’d fan girl. I’d completely totally fan girl.

I freaking LOVE the sexual tension, mixed in with attitude, drama and suspense.

Kyra never fails to write strong female leads that I can’t help but relate to in some way or just simply want to be some day. Maddie is no exception to this. Maddie’s brains and her adorable style is someone to look up too.

Sawyer. Other the fact that he is dang sexy and totally Alpha, I love that he supports Maddie and doesn’t try to change her.

Together they are a force to be reckoned with.

This was so good! It was filled with intense suspense and steamy romance! Great combo!! The characters had me falling hard for them to get together. Sawyer and Maddie had a past and their chemistry was still there, but so was their hurt from a misunderstood past. I loved watching them mend feelings while also staying safe, until things fall apart. But never give up hope when love is involved!! I’m definitely going to continue with this series!!

Touch of Secrets is book one and the prologue novel to Kyra Fox’s all new Peak Securities series. This book is told in dual POV and ends in a cliffhanger.
If you are new to Kyra Fox this is a great book to get your feet wet. If you are a long time fan of Kyra like I am then this new book is a treat for you. This series is in Kyra’s Dare to Desire/BFF bookverse which means we get to see and catch up with some of our favorite characters from Kyra’s other books. This is a great book to introduce the characters and to lay down the backstory that will make up the other books in the series. While Touch of Secrets does end in a cliffhanger, it has enough of a “happy for now” ending and enough bread crumbs about the other characters that I wasn’t too mad about it. This was a fast paced well written romantic suspense. I flew through the pages. Sawyer is that alpharoll guy that Kyra writes so well. He’s a tough guy for sure but oh his heart *swoon* - the protectiveness and respect he has for Maddie is so dang hot. Maddie is a bad @$$ in her own right, and I love that Kyra always writes such strong female leads. This is how second chance romance is done. The chemistry is off the charts, the twists and turns keep you on the edge of the seat and you can’t help but fall in love with all of the characters. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Peak Security guys and the women they fall for. Great start to what I’m sure is an amazing series!
ARC graciously given by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

☆☆☆☆
Touch of Secrets was an adrenaline rush filled with suspense that kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. This was my first read by this author and I won’t hesitate to read another release in the future.
Maddie Jenkins is a cybersecurity specialist. While taking care of a regular assignment, she noticed something that makes her suspicious. Unfortunately, this puts her on the radar of a dangerous crime lord. She turns to her uncle for help. He sends her help in the form of ex-Navy SEAL Commander, Sawyer Abernathy. He’s not a stranger. They actually spent a really hot week together before Maddie ghosts him. They will have to put aside their differences and work together if she is going to survive this. Now, their hearts are on the line as well.
These two have undeniable chemistry that slowly builds to a blazing inferno. Maddie is just as badass as Sawyer. She puts up a struggle when it comes to just about anything including what’s obviously between them. They were made for each other. The mystery builds more and more to a cliffhanger that will have all who read this book anxious to read the series to come. My only objection, I would have loved more development as far as their romance. I highly recommend this to all lovers of romantic suspense. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Kyra is a new to me author, but I will definitely be reading more from her. I enjoyed the suspense and action of the story.
Maddie is a cyber security expert, and she stumbles upon a huge, long established money laundering operation by a man who has evaded the authorities for over a decade. Sawyer is an ex-seal and sent to keep her safe and protected, using their shared history as cover.
Due to their history and unresolved issues, it took a while for them to warm up to each other again. But I think the falling out and annoying each other only added to their story.
Maddie was a little frustrating and although she was extremely clever with tech, she clearly had no self preservation and put them in unnecessary danger several times.
I enjoyed the story although some of the techy stuff went over my head a little, bit I still understood what was going on in general.
Towards the end, several characters were mentioned and I got the impression that I should have known who they were, so I am unsure if this book links to another series or not.
Although this book is Maddie and Sawyers story, I get the impression that the overall story will continue through the series, as there isn't a definite ending.
I am looking forward to the next book to find out what happens next.

An enjoyable love/hate danger/protection romance with a twist.

Maddie and Sawyer had met previously but due to a misunderstanding hadn’t taken their budding relationship further and parted with hurt feelings. Roll forward a year and Maddie has found herself in a spot of trouble and Sawyer is sent to be her bodyguard.

I loved Maddie, her no nonsense, take no crap from anyone attitude really called to me and I found her character fascinating and under appreciated by the complimenting characters. Her ability to work the problem herself and make the hard decisions was a rare thing. Not usual at all in a genre of books that rely mainly on the male characters being the rescuers.

Sawyer was a strong alpha male with a protective streak a mile wide, mummy issues and misaligned priorities.
I loved his relationship with the Jonah and Andrew, and felt that could have been exploited more, as could his background which in comparison to Maddie I felt was only lightly touched upon.

A great story with a plethora of interesting characters, some coming from previous books, some to come in future ones. Regardless it gives me a nice back catalogue to raid and a next book to look forward to.

Arc received for honest review.

Oh, what a tangled web of lies and mystery we have here. Maddie and Sawyer have quite the task ahead of them, and it sure isn’t made any easier by the almost-was dangling between them. But when family needs help, you help. And so Sawyer is determined to do his job, the end. He just isn’t prepared for all that is Maddie and all that his heart wants to slap him silly. Just when it seems like things may be ironing out a bit, more wrinkles pop up and Maddie is forced to take extreme precautions. Luckily, Sawyer isn’t stupid, and he isn’t giving up, so they’ll both be ready to face that which remains ahead of them.

I really liked the twists and detail this book gave. And the fact that it keeps the reader guessing. I think I may only be five steps behind Maddie and her logic, unlike Sawyer’s ten, but I could easily trip and end up back at square one. I can’t wait to see if any of my guesses are close to the mark.

I'm still on the newer side of Kyra Fox as I haven't read all of her work, but I have to say that I LOVED LOVED LOVED Touch of Secrets so very much, and I'm super excited for the rest of this new series. Maddie is one of the best (if not the best hackers) in the world, and it's because of that skill that she found herself in a great deal of danger from a ghost that no government agency has been able to smoke out. Sawyer is the man who is tasked with helping to keep Maddie safe since they do have a connection so the play acting wouldn't be hard to do, except it is at first since both think the other wronged them in the past. They have chemistry in spades that's for sure, and it's smoldering big time until finally the blaze is impossible to put out. Of course there's still the danger stalking her & it's going to get extremely dangerous before it gets better, so I was on the edge of my seat cover to cover. I still don't know who the ghost actually is as Kyra Fox really left us on a cliffhanger ending so I'm dying inside as I NEED TO KNOW! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Cybersecurity specialist Maddie Jenkins is good at her job, really good and sometimes too good. Working for the FBI doing a security check on a DC bank, she comes across something unusual. She reports her findings to her “Uncle” FBI Agent Lee Lawrence. Realizing that Maddie now needs protection, she is assigned to an agent from Pace Securities. Former Commander and Navy SEAL Sawyer Abernathy had met Maddie before and felt that there was something between them, but she ghosted him. Now he is assigned to keep her safe and moves her to a safe house and fits her with a bracelet tracking device. Maddie continues to search for her target even though it places her in grave danger. When she is kidnapped, will he find her in time? I prefer complete endings, so I was not pleased with the lack of solution to the case. I will start off by saying this was my first book by this author and it will not be my last! I am so excited to have found a new author that I enjoy this much.

This was a steamy enemies to lovers/bodyguard and protectee story that grabbed me right from the get go. There was lots of friction between the two main characters that made for some seriously hot chemistry. It was a bit of a slower burn but ok baby that chemistry combusted when they finally gave in.

This one had just enough suspense to keep me having to continue reading and not being able to stop until it was done. What a wonderful start to this new series and I can’t wait to see what happens in the full story once it comes out!

Job well done Kyra!

What a great story this was, my only complaint was that its a cliffhanger ending with the second book still to be released. Maddie is a cyber security expert who unwittingly discovers some computer code that places her in the crosshairs of one of the world's most wanted criminals. Placed under security watch with the man she never expected to see again. A novel full of drama, comedy, sexual tension, and of course romantic suspense I can highly recommend this story.

Ooo….the mystery and suspense. I’m glad we get the love story between Huckleberry and Techy. Loved their nicknames, that’s why I’m using them too! Despite the misunderstanding that kept them apart a year ago, I’m glad they realized their undeniable connection was worth more than a simple misinterpretation. I’m glad they reconnect at the end but we are left on a cliffhanger in finding out who Harlow is. Plenty of steam, action and swoon-worthy moments that ends with them reconnecting in the epilogue. Not a complete HEA, but they do end up together!!

What an enjoyable way to start this series.
It might be a prequel - yet I felt like we got so much!
Watching Maddie and Sawyer reconnect due to a not so good situation, really allowed them time to understand each other and trust to build naturally.
It also helped that their chemistry was off the charts!

Maddie really stood out to me because she can hold her own in a lot of ways. She matches her undergarments to her shoes, she could probably hack anything.

I hope we get to see more of them in the next installment of the Peak Securities series.

Wow. What a read this is.
Madrid and Sawyer met a year ago and had instant chemistry but a misunderstanding lead to them going their separate ways. Now one year on the chemistry has only intensified and Madrid is in danger. Lots of twists and turns and this is an edge of your seat read. I just hope I'm lucky enough to read the next one.

This is a great introduction to the Peak Security series. You get info on the characters and what they do. Maddie gets information she wasn’t meant to see and a drug lord is after her. Can navy seal Sawyer protect her? Good quick read

Intriguing and fascinating
I loved the book. The suspense and the fast pace are so so real. You simply live and almost die with the protagonists.
Live dangerously they say! Easily said, not so easily done. Even a genius in cyber protection such as Maddie is no stranger to danger.
The world of hackers and cyber criminals is vast and influential and dangerous. Even with protection and on the run, it proves almost fatal to Maddie.

Kyra Fox, ‘Touch of Secrets’.
Peak Securities series, book one.
’She’ll trust him with her life, but never with her hart’.

As an Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily wrote an honest review. Here it is.

Rating: 4 (of 5 stars).

In general: From frenemies to lovers.

Main characters:
- Maddie Jenkins (33).
She’s a cybersecurity specialist and has an assignment to save security problems at the DC branch of Cuthbert Bank, a bank for wealthy people.

- Sawyer Abernathy.
A former SEAL Commander, now working at Peak Securities, a friend’s company.
When Maddie thinks that a high ranking bank official, tied to the mafia, is involved in the crime she investigates, she asks an uncle for help. He’s a FBI agent who informs Peak Security. Sawyer gets the assignment to protect her.

Maddie and Sawyer met for the first time during the wedding of friends a year before. They had a flirt that promised more. But by a misunderstanding Maddie thought that Sawyer cheated on her with a girlfriend and she left him without an explanation. So, when they meet again for the investigation they start with a lot of mistrust on both sides.
The author, Kyra Fox, describes how Maddie is threatened by the persons she investigates and that Sawyer protects her very conscientiously. During the investigation the old feelings of physical attraction return and is causing problems: at first Maddie cannot forget Sawyer’s supposed cheating and Sawyer is convinced that a sexual relationship will damage his ability to protect his client. The result is an interesting love story interspersed with exciting acting scenes. However the end is a cliffhanger. And I hate books with cliffhangers, so it influenced my ratings.

I love how Kyra weaves her tales to make it realistic, enthralling and have completely endearing characters. This book definitely did not disappoint. It starts with a tiny peek into the chaos that brings our two characters together again. And when they do meet again, their story and backgrounds unfold at the perfect timing for two people who clearly think the world of the other but have let past hurts cloud their future.

Maddie and Sawyer are former almost-somethings that never came to fruition because of inopportune circumstances. They are now thrown together for Maddie's protection and it couldn't be more charged. There is still an obvious attraction between the two and yet they both refuse to act on it for their safety and also for past misunderstandings. But of course, pretending to reconnect leads to actual reconnecting and a fire between the two that cannot be quenched. I also loved the connection of some characters to the previous books, gives a sort of full circle feeling to see everyone's lives progress.

Kyra has done it again and made me fall for another couple and wish to be in the female lead's role, save for being chased by bad guys! The chemistry between the two lead characters is something to strive for. Both are smart and have just the right amount of snark and sarcasm to keep each other on their toes. Their bantering reminds me of an old married couple clearly head over heels in love with each other!

While the book ends on a cliffy, it's not so bad as the story kind of settles at the end. But even as it settles, you know you can't wait to read what happens in the future books! Craving for it, but not "drive yourself crazy" waiting!

There's a good story here but it falls down on execution. The heroine is a cybersecurity financial guru who stumbles on to the trail of a notorious criminal - which puts her in danger. Her influential uncle hires the hero's security firm to protect her - not knowing that the hero and heroine had an almost fling at a wedding a year before.

There's a fair amount of verbal sparring due to the almost-affair fallout, and the heroine conveniently does something stupid about halfway through to spur the story into the second half. The suspense angle is decent, but towards the end the author dumps in a bunch of a secondary characters, some of who we get no set-up for. Then the heroine who did something stupid to get us into the second half suddenly turns all badass and....whatever.

Also, authors, I beg you. If you're going to write a dueling first person story (both hero and heroine's point of view) figure out a way to make their voices distinct. Another way of putting it - the reader should know whose head we're in even if they don't read the subheading of the character's name at the start of a new chapter. The whole narrative felt flat and blah.

Is this the most terrible thing I've ever read? No. But other than the suspense plot that was a bit unique, there's nothing about the writing or romance to interest me in keeping up with the series. YMMV.
