I attended the University of Delaware as an undergraduate student from 2019-2023. My freshman year on campus was excellent; through required meetings for dormitory students I grew connected to the people I lived with and around. I lived on the northern portion of campus and generally enjoyed the environment I would walk to class to and spend my time in. The general education courses taken by first years are typically 50-150 students in size, so my recommendations are to make the efforts to personally interact with both teachers and peers- it will prove a beneficial habit, especially for more difficult courses in your later career. Research and internships are available if you put yourself out there, even more so if you establish sound relationships with professors. Overall, I had a positive experience with this school and will be returning for my graduate studies.
So far, I am so happy with my choice of attending the University of Delaware. This school is so amazing and making students feel comfortable and heard throughout campus. I feel as if I am getting a great education as well as the college experience that everyone deserves to have! One thing that I would like to see change is the school spirit and the sports. Since we are a Division I school, I expected to have fun game days and a lot of school spirit, but there is little to none. Hopefully that will change in the future!
At UD, the academic offerings were diverse and impressive. Whether you were into engineering or psychology, there was something for everyone. The professors weren't just teachers; they were mentors who encouraged us to think critically and love learning. Plus, with small class sizes, we had plenty of opportunities to engage in lively discussions and connect with our peers, making learning even more enriching.
Reflecting on my time so far at the University of Delaware, I can say that its great. The combination of challenging academics, a great campus life, and the chance to explore nearby cities made for a well-rounded college experience. While Newark could be quiet at times, the nearby cities more than made up for it, offering endless opportunities for adventure. Overall, I'm thankful for the knowledge gained, the friendships formed, and the memories created during my time at UD. It's an experience I'll always treasure.
