Food was excellent, reasonably priced, and the service was outstanding. You will not leave hungry but the portions are not overly big. Simply quality food.

This restaurant was recommended by the front desk person at our hotel. We made reservations at another restaurant we always go to on our way to or from LA when we take Hwy 101. It was a really great restaurant with an old western feel but really nice. Service was excellent and food exceptional. I would’ve given this restaurant an overall 5 but it took over an hour (1.25 hours) to to cook the double pork chop. And even though it said could take up to 45 minutes which we totally understood but we arrived at 5:15 when the restaurant just opened and not many guests in the restaurant. I would still highly recommend anyone near Santa Maria to experience Far Western Tavern (actually in Orcutt just outside of Santa Maria) it’s worth the visit.

We visited the Far Western Tavern on a Saturday evening in April. The place was bustling with diners. The ambience was nice - old time western look. We started out with cocktails - the special Manhattan and an old fashioned. Both were delicious. My husband and I shared the surf & turf, steak and lobster dish, which included a shrimp cocktail appetizer and salad. Everything was more than enough to share. The steak and lobster were cooked perfectly. The lobster was melt in your mouth. The steak was tender and juicy. The only downside was the wait for the main dish, which took a while, but was well worth it. Service was very good in general. All servers seemed to work as a team. We’d definitely come back here again.

We brought friends here for first time after golfing in Santa Maria & we all enjoyed service food atmosphere & libations. We sat in cozy 1/2 booth in bar; but will try cozier dining room next time! Wonderful evening. Reserving on open table was difficult as we tried to make comments to reserve specific type of table; it kept trying to have me change the reservation time to an hour later; so I had to call several times to reschedule a live person to put in this request-not happy about that.
