Nestled in the vibrant heart of South Beach Miami, the Tribute Portfolio Resort Royal Palm South Beach Miami offers a prime location that has won the hearts of many travelers, with easy access to sandy beaches and local hotspots. While guests have called out the hotel for its clean environment, there are mentions of occasional housekeeping inconsistencies. The lively atmosphere, complete with a poolside DJ, is a hit, though opinions on service and room quality show a divide. Extra charges for amenities and parking have caused some to question the hotel's overall value.

Pros:
Two bedroom suite is large and faces the ocean, so great view!
They decorated the room for us beforehand and we sent the packages to the hotel
Communication via email was great
Because of the size of the room, we got four bottles of water everyday and had 4 beach chairs everyday
They were able to accommodate an early check in at 11am and a late check out of 12:30pm and allowed us to use the beach and pool all day during our check out until we left for our flights
Great location - walking distances to popular restaurants and shops
Two pools on the property and easy access to the beach
Most of the associates we came in contact with were very friendly (expect the outside staff I thought were rude and looked like they did not want to be there)

Cons:
Breakfast buffet is very expensive - $26 per person even if you just want some fruit and toast they do not offer an a la carte menu for that only pancakes and eggs do they offer an a la carte menu
The Beach and pool service were not great. The beach service took forever and the individuals were no professional
The pool service was just plain rude! At the front desk when we checked in they provided us with the amentities of the property and one of them was a happy hour and when i asked the waiter at the pool (Ones) about the happy hour he said nope there is not one and i should bring the card i got from the desk to prove it to him. i called the desk and they were incorrect at check out and no happy hour was available.
With the price of the room, I believe i should have received at three 2 free breakfasts a day!
There was complimentary lemon water and regular water at the pool and they provide towels at the beach and pool as well.

We would stay there again was the room was a great size, it was a great location, and I get my Marriott points by staying at the property

Thank you for your thorough and honest feedback! It was our pleasure to welcome you for a stay here at Royal Palm South Beach Miami and we're so glad to learn that you would happily return in the future! It's fantastic that you enjoyed a comfortable oceanfront room and all of the available amenities that it contained. We're happy that our staff was also able to assist you with an early check-in and that you especially appreciated how convenient our location was for you! However, we regret any inconveniences you experienced. It's unfortunate that our breakfast services were not entirely up to your standards and we apologize that you had an unpleasant interaction with some of the members of our team. Please be assured that this is not the level of service we endeavor to share with you, so we will address all of these concerns moving forward. We look forward to another chance to provide you with an even better experience in the future! Have a lovely day!

The hotel itself is in an awesome location. You can walk to tons of restaurants or bars. I certainly wouldn’t call this place ‘relaxing’ though, especially on the weekends as the pool area and one tiny bar was filled with obnoxious people. The servers and hostesses were very friendly and you could see they were trying their best but everything just took LONG. 15 bucks a drink at the bar plus 18% gratuity included, gets very expensive so I’m thankful maybe they were slow. No pool service, have to go to bar to get anything. They charge a resort fee, but please know that does not include an umbrella on the beach. Yeah, that is $22 a day. They only give you one tiny towel as well, and you need to present a card to even get that. The pool area I found was not extremely clean- Empty glasses, found wrappers everywhere, which is somewhat shocking considering I can’t even hand my credit card to the bartender. The room was OK, bed wasn’t the most comfortable and it seemed to be a little outdated and need of updating. Our upgraded room consisted of a view overlooking the roof and the air conditioning system. Breakfast (which we did get for free for being a Marriott elite member) was just a regular buffet, consisting of eggs, bacon, fruit and potatoes. That’s it. I would never pay for it, in fact we went once in the 5 days we were there. The check in process was smooth, even having our room ready at noon on a Friday- which was cool. Everyone was pleasant enough, but I probably wouldn’t stay here again, especially with all the other cool Art Deco hotels on Collins Avenue. We went over to the Loews next store most nights for drinks, a lot more relaxed and not a ton of obnoxious people screaming. If that’s your thing, then you’ll enjoy the Royal Palm, or maybe we just got unlucky the nights we were there.

Overall for a Marriott hotel I wasn’t impressed. The decor is Art Deco which is fine but some of the furniture in the room is peeling and “vintage” looking. I wasn’t sure if that was the intended look. Our first room we had a partial ocean view but the sliding barn bathroom door didn’t stay shut unless you stuffed a towel in the door. We asked for a better room given our Marriott status and they put us in a oceanfront room on the 14th floor. It was very nice view. We ate at the pool restaurant and the Florida cookery for lunch and breakfast, the food was not very good. The service on the beach for drinks and food was extremely slow and again the food not great. This hotels location is great! The front desk staff were very nice and tried to be accommodating to our needs. I hope this hotel is getting an update soon.

We stayed here the week between Christmas and New Year's. So obviously we understand that it's a busy time . We travel alot and we are not overly high maintenance.. and I have to tell you the whole thing was disappointing. There is an awesome bartender who works near the front door that was the highlight of the trip. And also a very nice girl that always opens the door when you go out to the beach. You need to understand that there's an 18% tip on absolutely everything if you think about buying. My husband and I are very good tippers so we never mind tipping but the whole scam of putting this 18% on feeds the fire of poor service. . You have to fight for a towel and a rolex Carlo paper, I Room got clean between 6 and 10:00 p.m. every night to spite me asking would they consider cleaning in in the morning. Again, granted it was a holiday time and we understand it's busy but the hotel hallways seem dirty and even when the room is cleaned ..average... . If you going to Miami I will say we enjoyed KYU and unbelievable restaurant in the mosaic district, Bizarre by Jose Andres, and the steakhouse called
quality meats..very good. The beach is nice.. The hotel guarantees to beach chairs her Room but they also sell chairs to others so dont be too late.

I want to start off by saying I am a Bonvoy Platinum Elite member and with that status, you expect a level of service to match that regardless of the hotel rating. I never felt prioritized which is hugely disappointing.

Nevertheless, I was looking for a quick getaway and was able to secure a room here for a long weekend. A lot of recent reviews talked about check in hell but we got to Miami late so we didn't experience that. I used suite nights to upgrade the room and got put in an ocean front suite. One would think that this would mean the room would be especially nice.

Room: So dated, old, dingy and lack luster. Toiletries and amenities were half filled or missing. Half the lighting was out and even when the bulbs were replaced, the lighting was insanely dim. The only pro to the room was the great ocean front view.

Housekeeping: While certain individuals were helpful, the overall experience was exasperating. Any additional requests would take hours or never be completed. When they cleaned the room, it would be half done and not thorough. One day we came back and the room hadn't even been touched. Hotel employees kept reinforcing that we must have left a DO NOT DISTURB sign on but the kicker is that we were never given one.

Grounds: The entire hotel needs a massive upgrade. It is dingy and all the public spaces are worn. The chairs, cushions, umbrellas have also seen better days. They also up charge for umbrellas which should be included in the daily resort fee. The proximity to the beach is fantastic but the staff servicing the beach area need a class in customer service. Most of the staff working food/drink service were extremely rude and would disappear for an exorbitant amount of time. They also would wander lost not knowing which order goes with what group of people.

Location: The only true pro here is the location and proximity to South Beach, boardwalk and the beach. While this didn't outweigh all the issues we experienced, it made it much easier to say screw this hotel issue (whatever that may be at that given time) and leave to go explore and enjoy.

Took a long weekend to get away, 6/12 to 6/15, the beaches just opened up and the weather was great! The location of the Royal Palm is awesome! You are so close to the beaches and restaurants. The hotel room itself was nice, nothing fancy but clean. When we were checking in there were two other guests complaining about their air conditioning not working and the lack of clean towels. We were there 3 nights and the room did not get cleaned and we were not provided any new towels. The elevators to the west tower were disgusting, they had a stench to them and looked like they had not been vacuumed for several days. There is no security to this hotel, anyone can come and go and use the elevator to access the floors, you do need your room card to get back in the gate from the Beach but most the time the gate was never shut all the way. The workers on the beach were very nice and worked very hard! they were definitely the best help at the resort. The guys out front working the valet acknowledged us once and seemed annoyed when we wanted to use the bikes for a couple of hours. The atmosphere is loud everywhere with music, on the beach and by the pool and a LOT of people smoking everywhere. The $33/ day resort fee ends up being $37.62 with the additional $4.62 they charge for fee/tax. No one ever asked to see our room card or wrist bands to verify we were staying at the hotel. Overall I think a lot of the workers at the hotel had been off for several months due to the Covid-19 and didn’t appear to be too excited about getting back to work.

Do you like the smell of weed? Then this hotel, and Miami Beach in general, is the place for you. Pretty sure it's still illegal in FL, but no matter where you go, there it is. Relaxing on the beach? Yep, weed. Eating dinner outside? Yep, weed. Hanging out on your balcony? What's that smell, oh yeah, it's weed. Welcome to Miami Beach!

Overall, I did like this hotel. The front door, beach staff, front desk and housekeeping staff were always friendly, but in the four days we stayed there, our bed was only made once and I had to text every day for towels, cups, toilet paper and bottled water. Not sure if this is due to covid or cost-cutting, but unlike other Marriott properties I've stayed in during the pandemic, there was no note about reduced housekeeping service for this hotel.

Also note that I said text...because nobody every answered the phone. At least they were responsive by text.

The location is perfect. Walking distance to all Miami Beach has to offer. The beach is beautiful. The view from the balcony was perfect. I wish the lobby bar was still open because I did want somewhere convenient and less crowded for a nightcap, but oh well. Another random thought...you can turn the A/C on to have the fan on all the time, a great thing if you need white noise to sleep.

Overall, I would consider staying here again, though I think my personality must now lend itself more to The Confidante in Mid-Beach. It's a different crowd....much less weed, a little more mature. I think the rate we paid for an oceanfront room was reasonable and I was offered breakfast or points for being a Bonvoy Platinum member.

My wife and I stayed here between 12/23-12/25. The hotel was clean and room were clean. The staff was pleasant and nice to work with. But I docked two stars because the bed was extremely uncomfortable and noisy. It was impossible to get a good nights sleep on the worn out mattress. Which caused me to toss and turn throughout the night. Every move causing a loud creaking noise. After asking the front desk if they could have someone fix the mattress or move us I was told they would send someone up. I never saw anyone come up and the issue was not resolved. I spoke to the front desk again and was told they were booked and that there was no other option. This was definitely not how my wife and I expected to spend our Christmas.

Those who stay at Marriott hotels frequently know that the beds are extremely comfortable. So to find a room in one of their Category 6 hotels with a bed that feels like a used futon mattress was very unexpected.

Also pay close attention to every charge you make at the hotel and the surrounding area. It is customary in South Beach to have a 18-20% service charge added to every bill.

Check-in was alright, but from then on, not a single thing was up to Marriott standards.

Most the staff were rude and treated the guests like trash. There was black mold on the ceiling and walls so thin we could clearly hear our neighbors talking. In the morning neighbors started blasting music at 9am (and maids banging doors the next day). We tried to call the front desk and found the phone in room must have been broken. Instead, called on my cell 5 TIMES with no answer. Finally, I threw on a robe and went into the hall to use the hall phone only to find that phone, too, was broken.

"Breakfast buffet included" extra rate actually only covered $14 (most items were $16+mandatory service charge (even for take-away) and orange juice or black coffee was $6. When we got our breakfast, there was mold growing on the bagel.

Broken ice machine, and elevator - the doors were opening and closing so slowly each floor took about 3 minutes (but it was not put out of order so it was often necessary to call two elevators).

Resort fee supposedly covers chairs on the beach, but having an umbrella costs $25, even though every set of chairs had an umbrella. When I said we did not want to pay $25 for an umbrella, the attendant said he would come take it away. Wow Marriott, you sure showed us!

We said "forget it" and went down to the fun part of the beach and had a much better time the further we got from the Royal Palm.

First off, I have never left a review (good, bad or otherwise) for any hotel but I feel compelled to warn would-be patrons of this hotel. Do everything you can to stay anywhere but Royal Palm South Beach. The pool is alright, the beach amenities are ok and there are a few good employees. Andrew was great (helps with chairs at the beach), Toni was also amazing (server by the pool) and house keeping was also very thorough. But that’s where it ends, every other employee at this hotel acts horribly inconvenienced whenever you ask for anything and that includes taking a food or drink order. But the girl who works in the towel shed by the pool might be the worst hotel employee I have ever encountered. Her job is literally to exchange towel cards for towels at the pool and I don’t think I saw her do it once without argument, with myself or any other guest. It was as if her compensation was based on how many towels she could keep in the shed at all times, it was truly bizarre.

Our room and bathroom were clean but the property in general looks a bit neglected and the food and drinks were just OK. However, this is a Marriott category 6 property and priced as such so what you find when you arrive is truly shocking.

I understand this is Miami and most hotels are bit run down and I accept and expect that whenever I come here but at this price point I would expect service to be slightly elevated. Never again.
