Pros: Appeared very clean, even caulk in bathtub was bright white. Grounds are beautiful, the deer are everywhere and the views are magnificent.

Cons: Due to the pandemic rooms are not cleaned during your stay and pools are closed. Stopped by lobby and asked for more towels and were told there weren't any there?...they could send to our room later. Be prepared to hang your towels to dry. On our way out I discovered a sock that was not ours under the bed, which means either they didn't vacuum at all or just in certain areas.

There are a number of comments regarding the rooms being dated, which it was in regards to the tile but the tile was clean and there was a flat screen...bear in mind this is an island and I'm sure everything has to be shipped here (like granite counters).

Recommendations: I cleaned everything when we arrived with alcohol which turned out to be a good idea, while things appeared very clean at first the "sock incident" shows that looks can be deceiving. If you are looking for a "resort experience" I doubt you will find one during the pandemic...you will not find it here either. The atmosphere was more like a nice airbnb as there were no amenities and not much support from the staff.

I booked this trip in January before the pandemic hit, I don't think I would do it again. I caved because the family wanted to go. That being said, I would probably give this place another chance if conditions were normal. I don't think travel is advised during these times. It is not relaxing and you really can't blame anyone in the hospitality business because they have to think of themselves and their loved ones too.

I am writing this with the understanding that the pandemic has seriously impacted the travel industry and accommodations. This is a most beautiful setting with a historic mansion and variety of rooms. The marina and grounds itself are beautiful as always. First the good news: Our room up on the bluff had a spectacular view, was clean and comfortable. It was quiet except for occasional voices from the other decks off adjacent rooms but that is unavoidable. The dining room food was excellent as always, breakfast was delicious and the wait staff were top notch. A must do it offered is the 4:00 pm presentation by the resort GM Christopher Peacock, an accomplished pianist and organist who gives a modified recital on the mansions 1900 Steinway Piano and pipe organ with about 2,000 pipes. He recounts history and tells some humors stories. You can visit the museum in the upper floors as well, very interesting. He did an excellent job, most enjoyable. Now for the not so good. First the only food service available at the moment is in the main dining room which is totally closed Sundays and Mondays so you must go elsewhere like Eastsound to eat. Both marina restaurants are closed for the season. The dining room requires reservations for dinner, none for breakfast and again the food and service are excellent. Second, the roads throughout the grounds are in terrible shape, rutted, potholes, challenging to drive and in most cases you must drive up part of all of a steep hill to get to your room. There are other buildings near the water with little or no steepness presumable more expensive. Finally our room showed signs of wear and tear, in need of a sprucing up but this is not a dealbreaker by any means and understandable with staff hard to some by. Also if you are there for a few days or more ask for extra coffee supplies at the front desk as there is no housekeeping service on a daily basis. So to conclude, Rosario offers limited facilities at the moment and is in need of upgrades but overall if you get a reasonable rate reflecting these limitations and stay there when the dining room is open, it is still a wonderful place to experience with a view that can't be beat. Also as noted by others, it is isolated with limited transportation options, about ten minutes or so away by car from the main town Eastbound. Finally if you like adventure, you can take a bi-plane ride from the little airport in an old open cockpit plane that is so much fun, highly recommend it.

We just returned from a wonderful stay in one of the Harborside Hearth Suites. The suite is spacious with a comfortable bed, living and dining areas, large balcony, as well as private water views. Thank you to Dante at the front desk. His hospitality and professional manner helped us to decide on our choice of rooms. We appreciate the friendly staff. The excellent service continued in the Mansion Restaurant. We ate there three times and really enjoyed being served by Brandon. The Resort is impeccably clean and we were allowed to have private use of the whirlpool and indoor pool by making a reservation. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We look forward to staying with you again!

If you are going to Orcas Island, I do not see a reason why this place is not the top choice for accommodation. It was just perfect because, 1) the location overlooking the bay is one of the best you can find on the island and it’s just next door to Moran state park, 2) the rooms have great views ( the best one i think is bayside waterfront) and also were not outdated as some of the other reviews mentioned, 3) the food at the restaurant was just awesome. Normally we find food at hotels with good locations overpriced and bland but here everyone one of the menu items we tried was good. Kudos to the chef.

Overall, do not be swayed by the average star rating on traveler sites since I think it based on older reviews. This resort has it all and we nearly missed booking it.

I had so looked forward to experiencing this historic resort and unfortunately was let down in my experience at most every turn. To begin with, we stayed on our boat in the marina, not the hotel so I am not able to comment on the rooms or service related to that. We scheduled a dinner in the restaurant for 7 people and our server did not know the menu and had no interest in finding answers to our questions. their comments were "I'm an old queen and too old to follow these things" They continued with making comments about how tired and depressed they were and we were simply trying to enjoy our meal of several hundred dollars with mandatory gratuity charged on our bill. I get that people are stressed in these times but we were there celebrating our parents 50th wedding anniversary and really wanted to focus our energy on the family event.

The following day we booked massages for 4 people at $135 a piece. My experience was lackluster with my therapist responding to my comment that a bit more pressure was just fine, with "well we charge extra for that". I wasn't asking for deep tissue, I was simply saying that the light touch could be altered to a more firm pressure. When the massage was done, I asked if there was a shower available to rinse the oil and she said that I needed to check with the spa desk and that there was a charge for the shower and towel. She was wrong. The spa desk rescued her and allowed me the 10 minutes I needed to get cleaned up. Perhaps she was new and didn't have the information needed to respond appropriately but it did not leave me feeling relaxed or pampered. I do not feel good about leaving a review of this sort but felt compelled to let others know of the experience.

We booked for 5 nights online and were really excited to take a mini-vacation on Orcas Island. The view from the room was really good, but it seems like The Rosario Resort has not updated anything inside for many, many years. The carpet feels gross to walk on because it is so old and the kitchenette has appliances from the early 60’s (and not the cute quaint kind of old appliances). For $300 a night, you would expect that they invest some of the profits to move into the 21st century. Our interactions with the staff was completely underwhelming. We left after 2 nights, and we won’t be back. I’d rather sleep in a tent at Moran State Park. Vacationers beware.

Unique resort with great natural beauty and historic main building. However, we were on a cycling trip so didn’t have a car and didn’t realize how limited the food options were. Only the main, sit-down restaurant was open while the other 2 were closed, and the food store was only open on the weekends. To get to a larger town with restaurants and stores was a $40 taxi ride each direction – and taxis were in short supply and had to be reserved. I suggested to the manager how the resort might make food more available, but did not get a reply.

My daughter and I were booked for 3 nights . We stayed there 6 years ago. This stay was a complete disappointment , for both of us. For a 3 night stay totaling over 800.00, the service was poor and there was a complete lack of hospitality . Four months before our stay , I called to book 2 massages for us. I was told that the available time was 3:15 pm , on our arrival day. I explained that our ferry didn’t even arrive on Orcas until 3:00, and that any other day would be fine. I was told that there was nothing else , but I could go on a waiting list . / We went into town to have massages , which was an inconvenience .
One morning we wanted to have breakfast at The Mansion ( the only place on property that was open served breakfast. The hotel info stayed that breakfast was served until 1130 am. We arrived at 1045 am and were told “ we need to turn the tables over , but you can come back
At 12:00 for lunch. “. No effort made by the host to try to accommodate us , two guests of the hotel! Again , we drove into town to have breakfast.
When we wanted to have dinner at the Mansion
( the only thing open on Wed on site ) we were told to;
“Come back at 830 pm, and they would only serve us inside “( it was beautiful out doors !)
The casual Resturant by the marina was closed on Wed. / We went to the shop by the marina , to try and find something decent to eat. All that we found was candy and icecream. In the mornings there was coffee in the shop, but no muffins
And the yogurts were sold out , from the day before. The people working in the shop , making our coffee were lovely. But , no one else made any effort to accommodate us , try to get us in
For dinner or breakfast when we had requested , the spa wasn’t accommodating . When we called for extra towels , one bath towel and one hand towel were dropped outside our door in a plastic bag. Note : there is NO room cleaning , turn down service , no
Room service . There is no place on East Sound that delivers food to the hotel
area. So, be resigned to bring food in from a grocery store in town ,and know that just because your a guest of the hotel, you aren’t going to be treated with hospitality or care. We never did eat at the Mansion, and we were at the hotel for 3 nights. The adult pool was very hot , and I couldn’t get an umbrella at the pool.
There is no Netflix , no HBO and the rooms / bathrooms look old , dingy
And in need of being updated . The tub and sink are old. There are no charging stations in the rooms , and no lamps for reading. It was too dark to read in bed. What a rip off the Rosario was.

We are currently staying at the Rosario. Views are great but rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade. Carpet is very cheap, sink is do low you can get on your knees to use it, old tile in bathroom, odd sink mirror that opens up to room. Upgrades aside, my rooms carpet is damp and I smell Irvine in two different areas. There is definitely an issue in our room which I’ve called twice about. When I called the front desk the second time they said they knew nothing about my first call. They sent maintenance who knocked on my door at 8:30pm and asked what the problem was, then promptly told me there was nothing they could do right now. The lack of service is comical.

The Marina mens bathroom had towels & swimsuits on the floor for over 12 hours. At 8:30 am I mentioned it to the young man sitting outside at the towel desk, and instead of at least picking up easily 6 towels and a swimsuit he said housekeeping will do it.

The bathroom on the side of the store was out of toilet paper, and filthy. The walking portion of the pier had dog feces several places for days.

We had halibut and fries at the grill, and the fish batter was so sparse the fish was dried out and awful. Will Never return to eat there.

The mansion had a mediocre buffet for breakfast for $22. The bacon was in a big slab and undercooked instead of separated. The extra $15 to use the ‘adult pool’ didn’t have enough lounge chairs, and the drink was nearly $20, and watered down.

Get your act together! This is a beautiful place, but the management is dysfunctional.
