I've never quite got Gram Parsons. He's always seemed to me like a modest talent who had one great idea (country as the white man's blues) -- and it wasn't like it was a particularly original idea even then. He wrote some decent songs but it wasn't like he was Gene Clark or something. Still, he remains an important historical figure, and this truly great compilation from the Raven label manages to shoehorn just about every inspired Parsons moment onto one CD. Nice sleeve notes, too. Includes tracks from the International Submarine Band, The Byrds, The Burritos and the solo career.
