I have been an America fan since the release in 1972 of the self titled America album. They chose to start a majoirity of their album titles with an H if you noticed, starting with Homecoming. What happend to America? After 33 years they sould even better than ever despite th absence of Dan Peek. Gerry's voice has improved with age. Dewey's voice was a little weak, but overall he handled his part well. They included several choice albums cuts, i.e. Company, Three Roses, Woman Tonight along with all of their big hits. The sound is aweseome. Great band complements Gerry and Dewey's outstanding guitar work. They have always been acknowledged for their singing and writing, but their skills on the guitar shine on this DVD. Opening with Riverside and closing with the required A Horse With No Name, you are treated to an outstanding performance. The only negative critique that I have is that on Woman Tonight, the song itself has three different tempos and sounds strange, however they pull it off without even the vocals of Dan Peek. Great DVD with over 2 and a half hours of sure greatness. I have been waiting for 20 years for "the" America DVD. Here it is. Buy it. Enjoy it. You will not be disappointed.

This is a terrific America concert and the DVD also has an extensive interview with the America creators, Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley. The interview alone was worth the price, but the concert footage was fantastic. Highly recommend this to any America fans.

Definitively what I like the most in this band apart from the songs obviously, is the vocal harmonies between Bunnell and Beckley which work beautifully, though I rather like Bunnell voice. The set in this show is outstanding and was the main reason to choose this DVD over Live on Chicago, because of songs like: Wheels are turning, California dreamin', or Company a long time lost favourite.
Even though the idea of a show in such an amazing venue like The Sidney Opera was also a hook, it doesn't really appears as an important part of the shooting given the fact that only from the middle of the show onwards, you'll be able to see some os this huge architectural structure. Maybe a camera from the back of the stage was necessary, showing the audience and by extension, the celings of this legendary bulding.
Another interesting feature on this DVD was the extense interview to Bunell and Beckley, more like a conversation.
The duo talks about interesting stuff like their origins in England, and other musicians from diverse styles, etc. Although this interview has no subtitles for non english speaking people, you will find easy to understand both musician, but not the host (interviewer).
To wrap up, great set of immortal songs, by a great american band, many times tagged as Soft Rock or A.O.R. which I find a huge mistake. This is folk rock with exceptional melodies and great arrangements. No samples, or studio tricks just great musicianship. What else can you want.

This band was a favorite of mine in the early 70's with their vocal harmonies and excellent guitar work, and still is to this day. I saw the band at a local county sponsored concert in the park a few years back, and was amazed how good they sounded. Some of the band here are not "originals", but you would never know it by the great performance of their classic hits. I think it's important to have a good sound system with your TV to get the most out of this DVD. The somewhat "small" speakers on most TV's wouldn't do "justice" to the great performance on this DVD. This is a "must" for any America fan.

AMERICA does 24 songs live, the sound & vocals are just fabulous. This disk contains an extra special ALL MY LIFE performance by GERRY BECKLEY. AMERICA has been making music for over 30 years & they continue to record & tour - and they love their work and it shows. The interview is one of the best ever, GERRY & DEWEY's intellectual side is brought out in the discussions about life in the music business. GERRY just released his 2nd solo HORIZONTAL FALL (a real gem) & AMERICA will release a new CD in the fall under the Sony label Burgundy.

I had an America concert from SoundStage on PBS saved on my DVR box, but when it broke down, I had to turn it in, concert included. When I saw this DVD, I immediately bought it, as I've always loved this band. The sound is absolutely horrible. You can't even listen to it @ 5.1. I'm not sure who mixed this thing, but I think they were actually deaf. The concert itself is good, but I was really hoping for something better than I had recorded off of regular TV. Save your money.

I was a big fan of this band in the 70's and bought all of their albums on vinyl and can remember seeing them live with "poco" as support act. Then .....nothing for about 30 years. However there they were advertised at sage gateshead in concert on 21st march this year. So tickets bought and there they were on stage and sounding better than in the 70's concert! They sounded so good I went on a quest to catch up the 30 or so years I missed out on and what better way than a "live in concert" DVD. This one has all the 70's hits sounding fresher than ever and some newer tracks which are as good as their old stuff. It is the perfect reintroduction to a band who have been criminally overlooked in the uk.It even has my favourite america album track "company" on it! Just BUY IT!

アンコールで歌うベックリー ソロの ALL MY LIFE
