Amazing high quality (180g?) when the market went to flimsy discs. World class mastering and pressing and sleeve by Hipgnosis to boot!. Should be on any audiophile's wish list!

Terrific and deep sound. Band in top condition. Brilliant art music for an overlooked record. Magic and surrealistic cover by Hipgnosis

Very bad lacquer cut. Sounds awful. I dunno if the Lacquer Cut engineer or the tape master copy. AVOID.

The first 5 10cc lps are all classics in their own way however this one (sheet music) happens to be the one with the most replay value for me. Naturally I own several variants from different countries and even different pressings for the original US and hands down think this double side Lee Hulko master is rivaled only by the 1st UK. Since this along with their other 4 from 1973 thru 1977 are must own lps get the double LH master and the 1st UK. You need both pressings.

Great album and it doesn’t hurt that it was sampled by j dilla

When people talk about first pressings being the way to go and don’t waste your money on reissues then that is definitely the case here. Quite possibly the worst reissue I’ve ever heard. Dull as dishwater no dynamics no clarity. Not Bad Records indeed.

"The Worst Band In The World" was sampled in J. Dilla's "Workinonit"

BASICS: 10CC, Steely Dan, Hunter Thompson ... I put the three of these in the same class ... and as I think about it, I might want to throw Frank Zappa in that mix as well. 10 CC are extremely brilliant, seem completely natural, unpretentious in the development and execution of their art, and they have a way of bending words that brings on a big “Ah Ha ...” Once you hear what they have to say, you are left wondering why you weren’t able to have seen or said things in such a cinematic manner ... it’s all about the word play, and there are fewer things finer in music or literature then that.

Probably the biggest problems, if one can call it a problem is that there were no less then two really strong writing teams within the ranks of 10CC ... those being Kevin Godley and Lol Creme [and] Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman. The first half of the team took a very artsy, and as I said, cinematic view of the music, while latter were more straight forward in their approach to pop music. Non of these people could be considered a ‘flash in the pan’ in any manner ... Eric Stewart had been a member and writer for Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders and had a super hit with “The Game Of Love,” “A Groovy Kind Of Love” and several other songs. Gouldman succeeded in knocking out the world by writing both “For Your Love” and “Heart Full Of Soul” for the Yardbirds [remember Eric Claption and Jimmy Page], the songs “Bus Stop” and “Look Through Any Window” for The Hollies [and of course you remember Graham Nash from CS&N] and he even wrote two hits for the group Herman’s Hermits. They were also part of, if I may put it this way, a music factory, who turned out one hit after bubble gum and pop hit after another. The point being, that individually, these guys had tremendous street credits, all it took was for them to merge their talents and take the world by storm.

Most people seem to have come to discover “Sheet Music,” backwards ... by that I mean that they have had experience with later releases and in wanting more, they have gone backwards into the catalog of 10 CC, while awaiting on their next release.

This is a bright and productive album, one with choice material, excellent musicianship, and a concept that carries through unabated, from the beginning to the end. It is always refreshing to hear such quality from a group who seem to write and perform almost off handedly ... but therein lies the truth of 10 CC, their ability to dazzle us with their simple perfection. I’ve often wondered if this comes naturally, or it is something they labor over, weighing each word, each note, each phrase, until the pure perfect has been distilled.

However they have managed this task, the result is profoundly effective ... 10 CC are truly in a glass by themselves. As someone once said about another one of a kind band, The Grateful Dead, “They’re not the best at what they do, they’re the only ones who do what they do.” The same can be said for 10 CC ... it’s all for the good time and pure fun ... though the music is seriously good.
