La Union local water suppliers urged to examine current supply woes

BAGUIO CITY—  La Union Gov. Raphaelle Ortega-David called on local water suppliers in her province to assess the current water supply situation in La Union and address challenges amid the drought being experienced throughout the province.

A recent consultation at the Provincial Capitol in San Fernando City, led by the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) and Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit (LEEIPU), sought to accelerate the provincial government of La Union’s effort in providing assistance water consumers especially this dry season.

General managers of the Metro Agoo Waterworks Inc., Naguilian Water District, Balaoan Water District Generaland Metro San Fernando Water District presented their respective data on the monthly and average volume of water being supplied to consumers, trend on the serviceable areas as well as data on the occurrence of water outage and shortage, volume of water, data on serviceable area locations and billed service classification graph per town. 

All suppliers pointed out a critical water situation in the province, needing swift interventions including government intercession.

Ortega-David vowed that they will continue to coordinate efforts and plans with concerned stakeholders in addressing challenges in water supply La Union, while also gearing up their strategic action plans to ensure a safe and sufficient water supply for the whole province.
