As the public service program 'CIA with BA' aired its Mother's Day special episode on May 12, hosts Alan Peter Cayetano, Pia Cayetano, and Boy Abunda reflected on the invaluable lessons imparted by their mothers.

“Alam niyo po, katulad ng pagmamahal ng Diyos ama, walang hangganan ang pagmamahal ng isang nanay,” remarked Alan, cherishing the profound love of his mother, Sandra Schramm.

“If we think alam natin ang hirap na dinadanas ng isang nanay, nagkakamali po tayo,” he added.

Pia Cayetano, reminiscing about her time as an only child before her siblings were born, shared, “Siguro ‘yung greatest lesson galing sa aking nanay, kasi only child ako for almost five years and ‘yung mommy ko ay working mom, parang ang mommy ko naging isang napakagaling na nanay, talagang ever present sa buhay ko despite the fact na nagtatrabaho siya.”

“For me that’s the most important lesson I have sa sarili kong nanay and gusto kong gawin din sa mga anak ko na feel nila na kapag may kailangan sila, nandyan ako para sa kanila, and habang buhay ‘yon kahit na malalaki na ‘yung mga anak ko,” she added.

Boy Abunda, known for popularizing the saying "make your nanay proud" on television, shared a lesson from his mother that remains etched in his memory.

"Hindi ko malilimutan ay nung parati niyang sinasabi sa akin na 'pag nagsasalita ka, dahan-dahan. Speak slowly. Speak clearly… and make sure the people understand you. 'Wag mong kakalimutan that you speak because you want the people to understand you," he recalled.

"Tuwing nagsasalita ako, hindi ko talaga nakakalimutan 'yan kasi nung bata ako madalas akong sumali sa mga declamation contest, oratorical contest, lahat [pati] spelling bees. Ang lakas-lakas ng loob ko dahil parating sinasabi ng nanay na even before a contest begins, 'You are my winner,'" Boy continued.

"So inaalala ko lagi 'yon. Paano ka naman matatalo sa contest kung sinasabi ng nanay mo na bago pa man magsimula ang contest, panalo ka na. That to me is one of the most important lessons I learned," he concluded.

In addition to these heartfelt reflections, 'CIA with BA' also celebrated Mother's Day by surprising some mothers who had previously been complainants on the show, adding a poignant touch to the occasion.

'CIA with BA' upholds the legacy of Senator Rene Cayetano, the esteemed father of the sibling senator-hosts. A distinguished lawyer, the senior Cayetano gained prominence through his radio and TV program 'Compañero y Compañera,' which aired from 1997 to 2001.

'CIA with BA,' hosted by Alan, Pia, and Boy, airs every Sunday at 11:00 p.m. on GMA7, with replays on GTV the following Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
