It's hard to believe it's been 30 years since Meg Ryan's Annie Reed and Tom Hanks' Sam Baldwin met atop the Empire State Building, but yes, Sleepless in Seattle turns 30 years old on June 25, 1993. To celebrate the beloved movie's major milestone, catch up with the A-list cast, then and now.

Before playing Sam Baldwin, a.k.a. Sleepless in Seattle, Tom Hanks had already made a name for himself on shows like Bosom Buddies and in films like Big (1988) and A League of Their Own (1992).

An actor, producer and typewriter aficionado (check his Instagram), Hanks became a superstar after the release of Sleepless in Seattle when he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1994 and 1995 for Philadelphia (1993) and Forrest Gump (1994), respectively. He has since starred in dozens of hit films, including Apollo 13 (1995), Saving Private Ryan (1998), The Da Vinci Code (2005), Angels & Demons (2009), Captain Philips (2013), Saving Mr. Banks (2013), Sully (2016), A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019) and most recently, Asteroid City.

Hanks has won seven Emmys, four Golden Globes (plus the Cecil B. DeMille Award) and two SAG Awards, among dozens of additional accolades. He has been married to Rita Wilson — who also appeared in Sleepless in Seattle — since 1988 and has four grown children.

Meg Ryan as Annie Reed

Meg Ryan was cementing herself as one of the rom-com queens of the late-'80s and early-'90s, starting her reign with When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Joe Versus the Volcano (1990), in which she also starred opposite Hanks, following those up by playing Annie Reed in Sleepless in Seattle.

After Sleepless in Seattle, Ryan starred in romantic dramas, including When a Man Loves a Woman (1994) and City of Angels (1998) and eventually reuniting with Hanks for another rom-com with You've Got Mail in 1998. Ryan then appeared in films like Kate & Leopold (2001) and starred in and directed the films Ithaca (2015) and What Happens Later (2023). Ryan has been nominated for three Golden Globes, including one for Sleepless in Seattle.

Ryan was married to actor Dennis Quaid from 1991 to 2001. They share one child, actor Jack Quaid. In 2006, Ryan adopted a daughter, Daisy True. She was also in a high-profile relationship with rock musician John Mellencamp, but the couple called off their engagement in 2019.

Ross Malinger as Jonah Baldwin

Just 8 years old when the film premiered, Ross Malinger stole everyone's heart as Jonah Baldwin, son of Hanks' Sam Baldwin.

After Sleepless in Seattle, Malinger had lengthy runs on Good Advice and Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher. He also appeared on shows like Seinfeld, The Simple Life, Party of Five and Touched by an Angel. Malinger hasn't acted on-screen since he appeared in an episode of Without a Trace in 2006.

Bill Pullman as Walter Jackson

Bill Pullman starred as Annie's fiancé, Walter. His résumé at the time included Spaceballs (1987), A League of Their Own (which Hanks also starred in) and Newsies (1992).

Since Sleepless in Seattle, Pullman has acted in many films, including While You Were Sleeping (1995), Independence Day (1996) and its 2016 sequel, The Grudge (2004) and The Equalizer (2014) and The Equalizer 2 (2018). On television, Pullman starred in 1600 Penn and The Sinner.

Pullman and his wife, Tamara Hurwitz, have three children, including actor Lewis Pullman.

Rosie O'Donnell as Becky

Before becoming an actress, Rosie O'Donnell was a stand-up comic. O'Donnell had starred on shows like Gimme a Break! and Stand by Your Man, and had a role in A League of Their Own, too, before playing Annie's best friend Becky in Sleepless in Seattle.

O'Donnell continued to act after Sleepless in Seattle taking on the role of Betty Rubble in The Flintstones (1994), and eventually landing herself a wildly successful talk show, which aired from 1996 to 2002 and earned her 11 Daytime Emmy Awards. She also won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1999 for hosting the Tony Awards (15 years later, she was awarded the Isabelle Stevenson Award from the Tony Awards).

O'Donnell followed her talk show with a stint co-hosting The View and continues to be outspoken via social media. She has made plenty of cameos in her career, including on Nip/Tuck, Drop Dead Diva, Will & Grace and more. O'Donnell had a recurring role on the ABC Family series The Fosters and was part of the main cast of SMILF, I Know This Much Is True and American Gigolo.

O'Donnell has five children.

Rita Wilson as Suzy

Though Rita Wilson had already been married to Tom Hanks for five years by the time Sleepless in Seattle was released, Wilson played her husband's sister, Suzy, in the film. Before the movie, she had made appearances on shows like M*A*S*H, Bosom Buddies, Who's the Boss? and more.

Wilson continued to act and produce theater, television and films. She had recurring roles on series like Girls and The Good Wife, as well as starred in movies like Now and Then (1995), Raise Your Voice (2004) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016). Wilson is also an accomplished singer and has released a handful of albums.

Wilson has two children with Hanks.

Victor Garber as Greg

Victor Garber had already been acting for some time when he played Sam's brother-in-law, Greg, in Sleepless in Seattle, known in the theater community for his for his award-nominated performances on Broadway and off.

Garber had plenty of on-screen acting roles as well before and after Sleepless. You'll recognize him from being in ... pretty much everything, from television shows like Alias, Power, The Flash and The Orville to movies like Titanic (1997), Legally Blonde (2001), Argo (2012), Sicario (2015) and Happiest Season (2020).

In 2015, Garber married artist Rainer Andreesen.

Rob Reiner as Jay Mathews

Rob Reiner — Sam's friend Jay in the movie — made a name for himself as an actor when he starred on All in the Family from 1971 to 1978. He was also making headway as a director: He directed Ryan in When Harry Met Sally in 1989 and had also directed the classics This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).

Reiner has since acted in many films and TV shows. He has made appearances in The First Wives Club (1996), 30 Rock and New Girl, but even more notable is his directing career, which includes The American President (1995), Ghosts of Mississippi (1996), Alex & Emma (2003), The Bucket List (2007), LBJ (2016) and Shock and Awe (2017).

Gaby Hoffmann as Jessica

Child actors of the '90s were simply too cute and Gaby Hoffman (who played Jonah's friend) was no exception. Before the film, she had made her debut in Field of Dreams (1989) followed by Uncle Buck that same year.

After Sleepless in Seattle, Hoffman acted in movies like Now and Then (1995) and Volcano (1997). She also appeared on HBO's Girls for three seasons, as Ali Pfefferman on Transparent from 2014 to 2019 and on the HBO series Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
