Jesy Nelson remains as the highest charting former Little Mix act. Why?

Jesy Nelson remains the highest charting former-act from Little Mix. Her debut solo hit "Boyz" peaked at #4 on the UK charts. Leigh Anne never got a top 10 hit in the UK (or anywhere) and Perrie's solo debut single peaked at #10 on the UK charts.

Why does Jesy Nelson remain as the most successful and highest charting former Little Mix member? Mind you, Perrie got massive payola in the UK so dont use the "no promo" excuses

Maybe because she got a Nicki feature to make people curious? Be serious :dies:

She was the only interesting LM member after Jade. Tbh she could have done so much better if she wasnt that messy during her promotion

She had a Nicki feature :rip:

And what does that debut help when her other song didn't even chart

Because she was the Beyoncé/JustinT of the group

The first to release always has an advantage. Remember ZAYN and how forgotten he is now?

Jesy was actually serving sex and that resonated with a wider audience, you can tell a lot of effort was put into it by both her team and herself.

Perry has potential, in my opinion, but that video she dropped is so lazy and uninspired. The song is really cute but forgettable. Honestly, I'm not surprised the UK baddie still has the highest peaking singles among the Little Mix members.

Controversy sells.

Also a Nicki feature, an obvious sample of an iconic song, Diddy in the video (lol). Unlike the other two, her team clearly tried hard to make her debut a big moment (to their credit) but in the end it backfired and ruined her reputation.

Releasing with Nicki, scandal, first to release, waited only a few months after leaving the band, the band was still active, and so on…

by the way wasn't she dropped after the single flopped after week 1 ?

we can talk again in a year to see how Perrie and Jades music careers go and compare then :bird:

This isn't really a flex when that very single killed her solo career momentum.

Mel C respected her group but went solo and just did her thing without controversial crap attached.

How Jesy let Nicki talk smack about her former bandmate already put a bad taste in peoples mouths.

Eh it was inevitable

As a group (4) they excelled and were at their prime. But as individuals, they don't have much presence. Jade has always been my favorite, so we'll wait for her official solo before making any judgment

it was a meme release, you either knew it or you don't

The drama helped her for her quick peak but not avoid the song's freefall.

hopefully Perrie will have a decent longevity.

Nicki Minaj and controversy

Nicki featuring, lot of press, big budget video with P.Diddy etc

Also "debut single all time for a former girlgroup member on UK Charts" -  its not like the competition was so huge

Controversy and curiosity. She had the most exposure because she went first.

there was a lot more hype when jesy launched her solo because of LM... now that LM disbanded people kinda lost interest.
