Clare Metz Sheller OBITUARY

Clare Metz Sheller, formerly of West Chester Clare Metz Sheller, 89, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Sterling House in Youngstown, Ohio. Born October 5, 1922 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the Late Marie Metz and G. Harold Metz. She was married on February 19, 1955 to the late Howard Francis Sheller. Clare attended St. Callistus and West Catholic Schools in Overbrook. She lived in West Chester for over 30 years and also resided in Somers Point, N.J and later, Wisconsin after her retirement. She worked at the libraries of Immaculata College and Wyeth Laboratories in West Chester where she retired from her role as assistant research librarian. Clare was a longtime parishioner of St. Agnes Church, where she was a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group. She sang in funeral choirs at St. Joseph Church, Somers Point, N.J. and Our Lady of Lourdes, De Pere, Wis. She was a former Cub Scout Leader and sang in Chester County Community Chorus and volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop in De Pere, Wis. Clare had many friends and a beautiful singing voice. She loved living near the beach and spending time with her grandchildren. She was talented at needlework and created many beautiful handcrafted items over the years. Clare’s survivors include Marie Paxson (Jamie), West Chester; Catherine Sheller, Maple Valley, Wash.; Teri Sheller, (significant other Jeff Regan) Howards Grove, Wis.; Monica Baker (Stanley), Poland, Ohio; and John Sheller (Shawn), Maple Valley, Wash. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, at the St. Agnes Church 233 West Gay Street, West Chester. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 N. Church St. West Chester, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com.
