Despite a strong cast, this sour holiday comedy suffers from a hackneyed script.

Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Rated: 1/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Evan Williams The Australian Projectile baby vomiting is a recurring gag. I cried mistletoe well before the film was halfway through. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 12, 2008 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader This is marginally better than most, with a few offbeat comic ideas, a reliably droll performance from Vaughn, and, as the parents, four watchable old troupers in search of a fat paycheck. Dec 9, 2008 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Four Christmases represents the kind of passable holiday comedy that Hollywood serves up every year. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 7, 2024 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz Is this the worst Hollywood festive rom-com ever made? Rated: 2/5 Jan 3, 2023 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Thanks to a satisfying performance by Witherspoon and Vaughn's dependable comic chops, Four Christmases is a modestly entertaining holiday film for the entire family. Jaden D These bots need to shut the hell up about this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review Marc Z I really love Vince Vaughn and really like Reese Witherspoon. This movie does a decent job at showcasing their relative talents. There are a number of memorably funny scenes at the various Christmas celebrations they attend when their plane gets delayed. Robert Duvall and Jon Favreau are very funny in the limited scenes they are in. Mary Steenburgen is very likable and well utilized. Krista Cheneworth has some funny scenes. Dwight Yokum is good. The movie has some sentimental rom/com moments. The Nativity Play is the best part part. The movie just doesn't do a great job in tying it all together. It could have been much, much funnier and used their talents more effectively. Some of the scenes are way too contrived even for comedy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review Chris This film is simply awful. It is a typical example of Hollywood's warped perspective of traditional values; family, faith, morals, etc. Keep your kids away from this poison. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/25/23 Full Review Daniel Michel D It's the perfect "day after Christmas" movie. Basic story telling, decent cast and both different, yet oddly familiar tone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/23 Full Review Jamie Absolutely one of the BEST Christmas movies...... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Not sure what’s wrong with some of the reviews for this movie. It was funny, relatable, and plenty of on-screen chemistry. Saw in theaters the year it came out and it’s since become a staple holiday movie to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
