With a flair for the dramatic and a wit as deadly as his knives, Chucky – the serial killer doll from the comedy horror franchise Child’s Play – arrives in Dead by Daylight with ferocious speed and unnerving stealth. Capable of hiding himself from Survivors with his Hidey-Ho ability, Chucky can launch ferocious stealth attacks, rushing forward with his Slice & Dice to quickly close gaps and inflict damage.

To fully make the most of Chucky’s powers in Dead by Daylight, players must adapt quickly to Survivors and play around loops carefully. These select perks and add-ons can vastly improve Killers’ chances of success, featuring builds with both teachable and non-teachable perks for players with a variety of access to other DLC Killers.

Updated May 13, 2024 by Lewis Smyth: With Chucky's power receiving some slight nerfs in the upcoming PTB, what works best for the Killer has changed somewhat. This updated guide for Chucky in Dead by Daylight showcases a new build which better suits his power so that you can make the most out of him.

The Good Guy: Best Non-Teachable Build (2024)

dead by daylight the good guy best non-teachable build

For players who only have access to Chucky’s perks, this impactful build makes use of two Good Guy perks. This build focuses on tracking Survivors and Exposing them throughout the game with Bitter Murmur and Friends ‘till the End. Meanwhile, Batteries Included and Hex: No One Escapes Death work in tandem to increase The Killer’s speed in the endgame and leave all Survivors vulnerable to an instant down.

  • Batteries Included (The Good Guy) – Gain a 5% Haste bonus when within 12 meters of a completed generator and for five seconds after leaving it.
  • Friends ‘till the End (The Good Guy) – After hooking a Survivor that is not the Obsession, the Obsession becomes Exposed for 20 seconds and reveals their aura for 10 seconds. After hooking the Obsession, another random Survivor screams, revealing their position, and becomes the Obsession.
  • Hex: No One Escapes Death (General Perk) – After the final generator is completed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status ailment and you gain a 4% Haste effect until the Hex Totem is cleansed.
  • Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Each time a generator is completed, the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of that generator are revealed for 5 seconds. Once the last generator is complete, all Survivors’ auras are revealed for 10 seconds.

The Good Guy: Best Build (2024)

dead by daylight the good guy chucky best build

A short, slow-moving Killer like Chucky often needs information on what is directly around him. To this end, arguably the best build to run on The Good Guy in Dead by Daylight includes Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, Grim Embrace, and Dead Man's Switch to demimate generator progress and force Survivors from them. Furthermore, the impressive strength of Corrupt Intervention stalls generators and draws Survivors near in the early game while The Good Guy builds up pressure on Survivors.

  • Corrupt Intervention (The Plague) – At the start of the trial, the 3 generators furthest from the killer's starting location are blocked for 120 seconds or until the first survivor is downed.
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist) – The Killer starts with four tokens. For each different Survivor hooked on a white Scourge Hook, lose one token and explode the generator with the most progress, causing it to lose 25% of progress.
  • Grim Embrace (The Artist) – Each time The Killer hooks a new Survivor, all generators are blocked for 12 seconds after moving 16 meters away from the hook. After hooking each Survivor once, all generators are blocked for 40 seconds and the Obsession's aura is revealed for six seconds.
  • Dead Man’s Switch (The Deathslinger) – After hooking a Survivor, Dead Man’s Switch activates for 30 seconds. Any Survivor who leaves a generator before it is repaired will have it blocked for the duration of the perk.

The Good Guy: Best Add-Ons (2024)

Good Guy Box

dead by daylight the good guy add ons good guy box

Common but subtly strong, the Good Guy Box reduces the cooldown on a successful Slice & Dice hit by 7%, acting like a small stack of The Shape's Save the Best for Last. While far from the most impressive of Chucky’s add-ons, this small bonus can rarely mean the difference between a successful down and a futile chase.

Power Drill

dead by daylight the good guy add ons power drill

Though Hidey-Ho mode has a fairly short cooldown as basekit, The Good Guy’s Uncommon Power Drill can further reduce this upon landing a successful Slice & Dice attack. With 15% less cooldown, Chucky can even more quickly follow up his attacks and create an oppressive environment for the Survivors around him.

Jump Rope

Ever feel like Chucky’s Slice & Dice attacks land just out of reach of a Survivor? Like a miniature Coup de Grâce from the Twins, this Uncommon add-on increases the lunge duration of Slice & Dice by 7%, meaning players can better land attacks around difficult-to-play areas.

Automatic Screwdriver

The Good Guy has a variety of add-ons that slightly increase the strength of his kit. Perhaps the most newcomer-friendly of his add-ons is the Automatic Screwdriver, which decreases the cooldown of Hidey-Ho Mode by 10% after a missed Slice & Dice. This will help Chucky players who perhaps aren’t as accurate with their power to more quickly gain the advantage over Survivors.

Yardstick

dead by daylight the good guy add ons yardstick

The Yardstick reveals the auras of Survivors within 12 meters after performing a Scamper in Hidey-Ho Mode. This add-on is perfect for players looking to follow up their Scampers with a well-aimed Slice & Dice, giving even the most impressive Survivors a difficult time at loops against this doll-faced Killer.

Rat Poison

dead by daylight the good guy add ons rat poison

Similar to Chucky’s Yardstick, the Rat Poison reveals Survivors’ auras within 12 meters during a Slice & Dice, giving him even more information on the mind games Survivors may perform to avoid being struck by The Good Guy’s powers.

Portable TV

dead by daylight the good guy add ons portable tv

For fans of Endgame builds in Dead by Daylight, the Portable TV is a must-have. This Rare add-on increases Slice & Dice duration by 70% once the exit gates are powered, essentially allowing Dead by Daylight's latest licensed Killer to cover vast distances and attack Survivors with his power from far away.

Straight Razor

dead by daylight the good guy add ons straight razor

Perhaps the best of the Very Rare add-ons, the Straight Razor is simple but effective. Hitting a successful Slice & Dice attack inflicts the Hemorrhage and Mangled effects, acting like a basekit Sloppy Butcher – which received a change in 2024 – and slowing down healing speeds by 25%.

Iridescent Amulet

dead by daylight the good guy add ons iridescent amulet

An add-on worthy of its Ultra Rare status, the Iridescent Amulet increases the duration of Hidey-Ho Mode by 50% at the cost of ending it immediately after a basic attack. Since Killers shouldn’t regularly use basic attacks in Hidey-Ho Mode as is, this add-on effectively allows players to spend more time in power, allowing for better setup of Slice & Dice attacks around more complex Dead by Daylight loops.
