Team India, Maharashtra and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ruturaj Gaikwad tied the knot with his fiance and long-time partner Utkarsha Pawar in a lovely ceremony in picturesque Mahabaleshwar on Saturday, June 3. Gaikwad and Utkarsha were reportedly dating for a couple of years before they decided to get hitched and the latter travelled with the CSK opener all throughout the IPL with the wedding in the store after the end of a successful season. Gaikwad was supposed to travel to the UK for the World Test Championship (WTC) final with the Indian squad but pulled out because of his wedding.
Gaikwad took to Instagram to share the first photos from a lovely ceremony with a heartwarming caption saying, "From the pitch to the altar, our journey begins!"
Gaikwad's CSK teammates Shivam Dube and Prashant Solanki were also present at the wedding. Shikhar Dhawan, Rashid Khan, Shreyas Iyer, Maheesh Theekshana, Umran Malik and Venkatesh Iyer among others congratulated the couple on one of the biggest nights of their lives and wished their best.
Gaikwad's wife, Utkarsha, is also a cricketer based in Pune, who plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket. The 24-year-old all-rounder's last appearance was in November 2021.
Talking about the CSK cricketer, the 26-year-old had yet another successful season with the Men in Yellow in the IPL. Gaikwad formed a successful opening pair on the field with Devon Conway as the duo smashed 849 partnership runs, the third-highest in an IPL season and second most by an opening pair.
Gaikwad finished IPL 2023 as the 7th highest run-getter of the season with 590 runs including a match-winning 60 in the first qualifier against the Gujarat Titans. Gaikwad's form in domestic cricket and the IPL forced the selectors to look at him at the international level once again and was picked as a standby for the WTC final but pulled out because of his wedding. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the 21-year-old prodigal Mumbai batter was named his replacement.
