Synopsis

Camille Livingston is a college senior from a privileged upbringing. When her friends take her out for a night on the town on her 21st birthday, she meets sexy, talented guitarist Billy Ryan. The spark between the two is immediate and powerful, but Camille must stifle her attraction toward him for a few reasons: everyone expects her to marry her handsome fiance Calvin Dumas, and Billy is not only from the "wrong side of the tracks," but he is also white.

Not taking "no" for an answer, Billy persuades Camille to go on an exploration of the soulful corners of the New Orleans music scene. During their first night together, Billy is pleasantly surprised to learn that Camille has a soulful and powerful voice of her own when she takes the stage at one of his familiar haunts. The two immediately begin to plan rehearsals on a "love song" duet -- out of which grows their own love story. Confused by the pressure to accept or reject her predetermined destiny, Camille ultimately faces a crossroad where she must decide what she truly wants for her future.
