Casiokids are back; listen to their first new single in 13 years

Norwegian band Casiokids had a moment in the late ’00s / early-’10s with infectious if hard to pronounce singles like “Fot I Hose” and “Verdens Største Land” (released on Polyvinyl in the US and Moshi Moshi in the UK) and their undeniably fun live show. (I once saw them at tiny Williamsburg club Cameo where one of the openers was Mumford & Sons.) The band never broke up, but went into hibernation not long after releasing 2011’s Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen. They have now come out of a long nap and released their first new single in 13 years, and have announced their return to the stage.

Their new single  —  featuring “Brunsniggelen” (“The Brown Snail”) / “Tid for hjem” (“Time for Home”) — was released in mid-April and finds Casiokids picking right up where they left off. Both songs are fun, indie dance bangers that would fit right in between Hot Chip and Cut Copy, and frontman Kjetil Bjøreid Aabø’s falsetto is still in fine form. Listen, and revisit some of their late-’00s singles, below.

Casiokids’ first show back (and first since 2013, according to setlist.fm) will be at the 2024 Øya Festival in Oslo in August, and then they’ll play Norwegian headline shows in the fall. All dates are listed below.

Welcome back, Casiokids!
