Bluey buffs are just days away from not one but two new episodes, “Ghostbasket” and the long-awaited “The Sign,” landing on Disney+, Disney Junior, and other streaming platforms. The final chapters arrive on April 7 and April 14, 2024, respectively, and Ludo Studios has spared no effort in hyping up their viewers (as demonstrated by Bluey’s post below).

As much as the season finale has been built up, it’s not the only new Bluey we’re getting. April 7 marks the premiere of “Ghostbasket,” and it has been waiting in the wings for just as long as it’s bigger sibling. While not as epic as the 28-minute long wedding episode, the next entry in the series does promise to bring back two classic Bluey characters.

In recent weeks, much has been said about expanding the Bluey cast, whether that’s with the introduction of a new character or a focal shift on the other characters in Bluey’s circle, but a new teaser just revealed the return of two fan-favorites. In the newest trailer, Bluey and Bingo welcome back Janet and Rita

“Here come the grannies!” is a phrase every hardcore viewer will recognize in an instant. As with every great animated series, Bluey has several notorious running gags that appear and reappear in other episodes throughout the show. Janet and Rita (the elderly alter egos of Bluey and Bingo) are back for “Ghostbasket,” and there are certainly more than a few Bluey fans absolutely bouncing on the edge of their seats to see them again.

The Grannies have been seen across all three series, the last time being in “Granny Mobile.” Even so, it’s still been 13 episodes since they’ve made an appearance. The teaser above might only show the return of a familiar bit, but it also might be another clue pointing toward the series finale.

Janet and Rita might not be the only familiar characters returning to the series. As Joe Brumm and the rest of the team at Ludo Studios continue to breadcrumb the audience with winks and nods, they’ve also promised that fans will see the return of old friends before the big finale.

It could be inferred that the use of the Grannies and the focus on “Guess Who’s Back” is another piece in the final puzzle towards the 28-minute long finale. It certainly fits the MO of the teasers thus far, so it might not be too much of a stretch.

While it’s not been officially confirmed, the series’ teasers have hinted at familiar faces getting more screen time in “The Sign.” Along with Uncle Rad and Aunt Frisky, it’s also rumored that Bluey’s friend from “Camping” is also set to return. That said, we won’t really know the truth until the official release date.

Bluey, Bingo, and all their friends will cap off their tremendous third season with “Ghostbasket” on April 7, followed by “The Sign” on April 14.
