Celine Haute Parfumerie unveils ZouZou – a portrait of the 60s girl

Celine adds a twelfth fragrance to Haute Parfumerie Collection – ZouZou.

Since its reintroduction to the fragrance world in 2019, Celine has garnered fanfare, consistently delivering olfactory masterpieces.

In just four short years, the Celine Haute Parfumerie collection has ascended to an iconic status, amassing a devoted following. Now, the Haute Parfumerie collection expands with the unveiling of its twelfth opus, ZouZou.

Taking its place in the Day collection alongside the acclaimed Parade and Dans Paris scents, ZouZou embodies the essence of youth – a fitting addition to Celine’s olfactory repertoire.

ZouZou: an ode to the 60s Parisian girl

Named after the charming moniker given to girls with daringly short locks, ZouZou pays tribute to the femme fatales of the 60s. The scent evokes images of 60s icons, film heroines, and literary figures in a single fragrance. Picture youthful, mischievous-looking individuals with short hair framing delicate features and sporting a playful smile.

Hedi Slimane lends his signature touch by reimagining the project’s name, deeming it apt to christen it with an affectionate, childlike moniker. This choice blends endearing nicknames commonly associated with young girls with short hair or beloved individuals, infusing the fragrance with an added layer of charm and nostalgia.

What truly sets Celine apart in the fragrance world is its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia while remaining undeniably contemporary. With warm caramel tones and a chic twist, it’s a masterpiece painted around benzoin and tonka bean. Patchouli and labdanum add a touch of sophistication, while musk and vanilla leave a lingering, powdery trail – a signature of the French maison. When you imagine a cool Parisian girl with a short haircut, this would be the scent.

“I wished to create a perfume about utopic adolescence, capturing an ideal of eternal youth. The recklessness of the young French writer Françoise Sagan, the ingenue boyishness of Jean Seberg filmed by Jean Luc Godard, the magnificent heroines of the velvet underground, together with the young women I was able to photograph more than 20 years ago,” muses Hedi Slimane.
