Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - 10 Best Talents For Yrliet
Yrliet, the Aeldari party member in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, is the game's best sniper.

If you want to take things to the next level, you can even engage in romance with some of them. However, romancing every character isn't easy, and one of the most challenging ones is Yrliet. Due to the differences in your races, there's a significant distance between you, making it difficult to win her heart. With this guide, you'll be able to successfully romance Yrliet.

Things to Know Before Starting Romance With Yrliet

yrliet's character image in warhammer 40k rogue trader

One of the most important things to know is that the gender of your chosen character, whether male or female, does not prevent you from romancing Yrliet. While in the game, the starting gender may be crucial for romancing certain characters, this isn't the case with Yrliet.

Another crucial thing to know is that you can romance multiple characters in the game. So, if you're continuing the game and your relationship with another character has reached a certain level, don't worry. Having multiple relationships is not a negative aspect of the game.

However, there's a significant "but" here: towards the end of Chapter Four, you'll need to choose one of the characters you've romanced. If you've successfully followed this guide, Yrliet will be one of your options.

Lastly, the golden rules for winning Yrliet's heart are: never be racist towards her race, the Aeldari, and treat her with as much kindness as possible, but never overstep your boundaries. Since she doesn't appreciate physical contact, attempting to hold her hand, hug her, or overtly flirt with her will result in failure.

How to Recruit Yrliet To Your Team?

Depart From The Footfall Station

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Prepares to Enter Voidship-1

When you reach Chapter Two, you'll step foot on Footfall, deal with the matters there, and then you'll need to return to the voidship. Before returning, Heinrix will rejoin your team. Upon arriving at the voidship, everyone will gather in your presence, and Vox Master Vigdis will begin speaking.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Vox Master Gives Information About Planets Which You Lost Contact-1

Vox Master mentions that messages with other planets are being swallowed up due to warp disturbances and that familiar routes are in trouble. You need to locate the worlds under Von Valancius' protection, forge new paths to them, and regain control there. The worlds you need to reach are Janus, Dargonus, and Kiava.

When you start talking to Vox Master, you'll have completed the "Tattered Spirit" quest, and then if you ask any questions about these worlds, the "Reclaim What Was Lost" quest will begin.

Reach Planet Janus

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - New Star Systems Appear-1

Yrliet is located on the planet Janus. To reach there, you first need to find the Telikos Epsilon system. To do this, initiate Warp Travel to the Sotto’s Tomb system. From there, conduct Navigator Insights to locate the Telikos Epsilon system to the north. After discovering Sotto’s Tomb, proceed to the Aviorus system.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Voidship is in Sotto's Tomb system-1

You can also use Navigator Insights from the Aviorus system to navigate to the Telikos Epsilon system, but this route is marked as red, meaning it's deadly. You can choose to spend three points to make the route green, meaning it's safe, and reach this system without any accidents.

Upon arriving at Telikos Epsilon, you'll receive information that the governor of Janus will greet you. After landing, you'll see Yrliet for the first time. Then, you'll talk to Governor Vyatt, and of course, a peaceful reception won't be waiting for you. After an assassination attempt, you'll face a conflict. Following a lengthy battle, you can proceed to the mansion where the Governor is located.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship enters governor's chamber-1

After speaking with the governor, you can learn about Yrliet, the sniper who helped you from afar during the battle. When you leave the governor's mansion, you'll receive the "World Shapers" quest and need to speak with several individuals, one of whom is Yrliet.

She is located in the western part of your map, in front of the red-roofed pavilion. The meeting won't be pleasant due to the difference in your races. Here, express that you have no desire to fight and that this is your common ground. Avoid belittling her. If you've maintained a conversation that respects boundaries, you'll have three options:

  • "If you want, you can join me. None of the locals will dare to look askance at you in the Rogue Trader’s presence."
  • (Dogmatic) (Attack) “Die, xenos!”
  • “I must take my leave.”

Choose the first option and invite her to join your team.

Complete Yrliet's Personal Quest, "Aeldari In Distress"

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship and Muaran decides to focus common enemy-1

After reaching the end of the Forests of Janus, you'll encounter Muaran and the other Aeldari, triggering a substantial amount of dialogue that could lead to combat. However, if you opt for more passive and cooperative conversations, focusing on your common enemy, you can trigger an Iconoclast choice. This allows you to avoid fighting.

At this point, you'll receive the "Aeldari in Distress" quest. During your dialogues with Yrliet at this stage, remember to reiterate that she has a place in your team without belittling her.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Voidship Is Going To Reach Narmer IV system

To complete Yrliet's personal quest, you need to assist the Aeldari forces in distress. This requires traveling to three systems: Forgotten Twins, Tenebris Aquae, and Odaenathus XI.

First, you need to reach the Narmer VI system located north of the Mundus Valancius system.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Voidship Is In Odaenathus XI system2

From here, chart new routes to reach the Odaenathus XI system located northeast. Prepare your voidship because there are quite a few hostile Drukhari Patrols here. Although this may seem like you'll be facing four separate space battles, you'll engage in one continuous battle. In this battle, you'll need to survive for ten rounds.

Enemy ships spawn around you, and by destroying them and keeping their numbers in check, you'll win the battle. If you manage to destroy enough enemies quickly, the battle may end before the 10 rounds are up.

Afterward, you'll encounter an Asuryani Vessel in this system. Here, you'll see that they are in a state of panic and have fallen into a trap. Unfortunately, no matter what you do, you won't be able to save the Aeldari from their fate, and this part of the quest will be completed. Next, you'll need to proceed to the other planets.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Voidship Is Ready To Go Inside Forgotten Twins System

The next system you need to travel to is Forgotten Twins, which requires a journey considerably to the south. If you follow these steps in order, you can reach there:

  • Narmer IV
  • Mundus Nullius
  • Mu-Rho 79
  • Langrenn’s Belt
  • Forgotten Twins

Upon reaching Forgotten Twins, you'll encounter Traces of a Space Battle. After dialogues with your crew and Yrliet, you'll need to choose an option regarding the possibility of survivors. After your remaining companions blame Yrliet's race, Yrliet will express that it's something she fears to think about.

You may obtain some items here, but ultimately, you'll be late and won't find any signs of life. The only system left for you to return to will be Tenebris Aquae.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Voidship Is Ready To Go Inside Tenebris Aquae System

For the Tenebris Aquae system, you need to embark on a long journey northwest. If you follow this route, you can easily reach there:

  • Langrenn’s Belt
  • Silence of Mer-Segrit
  • Pelvis Platinum
  • Orsellio Prophecy
  • Adermat II
  • Tenebris Aquae

Upon arriving in this system, you'll encounter a Space Battle. Here, you can send a message to the Incerdia Chorda fleet and ask them to stop the battle. If they don't listen to you, you may have to engage in combat with them. Afterward, based on Yrliet's observations, you'll learn that her race's ships have no potential for firing or raiding.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Tries To Prevent Confliction Between Humans and Aeldari

Yrliet will think that the human ships are lying. You can then ask them to cease fire and withdraw. Subsequently, the Aeldari will be frightened and retreat further. At this point, you can allow Yrliet to speak with her race. Here, you can make various offers of assistance:

  • Grant the Aeldari the Rogue Trader’s protection by accepting them aboard the ship.
  • Direct the Aeldari ship to Janus – the xenos can find refuge among their kind there.
  • Mercifully grant the xenos provisions and medicines.

It's important to treat Yrliet's race kindly to avoid risking your relationship. However, regardless of what you do, events won't lead to a favorable outcome, unfortunately, the fate of the Aeldari always remains bleak. Later, Yrliet will tell you the coordinates of her race's cache, which is located on a Gas Giant.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Voidship Is In Last Chance of Cyrene System

The system you need to go to is Last Chance of Cyrene, which lies northeast of your current system. If you don't have any route to get there, you can spend three Navigator Insights points from anywhere to create a route. Upon arrival and interaction with the stash, you will receive the Scorpion Chainsword and Cloak of Shadows, thus concluding this quest.

Know How to Behave During Visits From Yrliet

Yrliet's First Visit

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Yrliet Wants To Speak With You First Time

During one of your void journeys, Yrliet will want to talk to you. Here, you will learn that Yrliet does not like physical contact, especially with humans. Do not press on this sensitive point, and be understanding. If you choose the following dialogues, you will have taken successful first steps with Yrliet:

  • "My people have behaved contemptibly. I apologize for it."
  • "I understand that this incident was unpleasant for you. But it does not mean that all humans are animals."
  • "I do not think you fully understand human thoughts and actions. It will take time, but I can help you make sense of them."
  • "Sometimes we struggle to understand the motives behind our own actions."
  • "All humans are different. My people’s interest in you was not intended to be an insult."
  • "And what do you see in the world around us that I do not?"

As a result, what you say will please her, and she will say she will think about them. Afterward, never disturb her, especially during meditation. Thus, you have completed the first step and established a spiritual connection between you.

Yrliet's Second Visit

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Yrliet Visits You Second Time

Next time, during one of your voyages, Yrliet will come to you again, expressing her desire to respond based on your previous conversation. Both of you will talk about how you perceive the world. She will mention Lilaethen and ask you to close your eyes, clear your mind, and choose to say "Li-lae-than".

After this, you will have a different experience, and you should tell Yrliet that you think you are starting to understand. She will remark that you are different from other mon-keighs. Avoid choosing any romantic responses indicating that she is starting to like you.

Afterward, you need to select the following dialogue: "Thank you for telling me how you see the world." Then, when she asks how you now see the world differently, avoid mentioning the God-Emperor or giving silly answers. Next, you should choose the following dialogues:

  • "I also see something greater in the world around me, something deeper than the outer guise of things."
  • "I see the uniqueness of every creature, everything. And it pleases me."
  • "To me, you are a foreign yet beguiling world, Yrliet. I hope that one day I will come to know you. And on that day, my own world will become much deeper."

Then the dialogue will end, and Yrliet will say that the conversation brought joy to her soul. Thus, you will have spiritually approached her further.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Visits Yrliet And See She is Meditating

After this, you may want to visit Yrliet and observe her silently meditating. Choose the option to "Observe silently." Still, refrain from disturbing her and wait a bit longer without initiating a conversation. Choose to leave her side, showing patience, as you will have opportunities to get closer to her in the future. Never disrupt her meditation.

Yrliet's Third Visit

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Yrliet's Third Visit

While warp traveling, Yrliet will come to your captain's quarters for the first time. She will examine your room and say something in her language. Of course, you should choose the most polite option: "Yrliet? What a pleasant surprise to see you here."

She will mention that there is nothing sacred in your room and that there is no barrier to her entering. Again, maintain your distance and respond in a polite and non-racist manner: "I am somewhat surprised, but I am not opposed to such visits. You may come here any time you like."

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Yrliet's Talks About Trophy In Your Room

Yrliet will express her desire to talk about your agreement, also mentioning that she couldn't save anyone and that only you could understand her on the ship. You should support her: "Do not give up. You will find what you are looking for."

Later, she will see a trophy in the room. Here, you can examine the trophy by making a Lore (Xenos) check. If successful, you will realize that it is a material crafted by the Aeldari. Regardless of the answer you choose, Yrliet will leave and say she won't come back again.

Still, the best option here is: (Fellowship: Succeed) "Something has changed. It is as though you have cut yourself off from me. Yrliet, what is going on?"

Don't worry about Yrliet's leaving as it doesn't negatively impact your relationship.

Yrliet's Visit To Your Inner World

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Yrliet's Fourth Visit

After rescuing Dargonus in Chapter Two, you will be asked to select two members of your team for the Rogue Trader ceremony. At this stage, choosing Yrliet may further strengthen the bond between you.

During your voidship journey in Chapter Three, Yrliet will come to your room. She will express regret for the damage caused to your world, palace, and other things. The best option here is:

"Why are you apologizing? It is not your fault."

She will say that a weight has been placed upon your soul due to what happened, and she wants to help you lift that burden from your soul. Select the option: "The burden of my responsibilities has indeed weighed heavily upon me of late," implying that you seek help from her.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - You Are Starting A Meditation With Yrliet

Then, she will say that you can lift this burden together and ask how she can help you. Agree by saying, "Very well Yrliet, show me my inner world." This way, after the meditation, you can explore your Inner World with Yrliet.

During this exploration, the echoes of the souls of your crew members will make unpleasant comments, and Yrliet will comment on them. After talking to all the echoes, you will see your and Yrliet's echoes side by side. The real Yrliet will be quite surprised. Here, some interesting options await you:

  • Make your echo touch Yrliet's echo's hand.
  • Make your echo kiss Yrliet's echo.
  • Make your echo embrace Yrliet's echo.
  • Resist the temptation.

Make sure not to kiss or embrace her. This will anger Yrliet and end your meditation. While holding her hand might not provoke a negative response, to avoid risking the bond you have built with her so far, selecting "Resist the temptation" is the best option. Afterward, the meditation will end, and you can thank her and end your dialogue for now.

How to Behave Towards Yrliet In Commorragh?

Forgive Yrliet In Commorragh

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Finding Yrliet In Commorragh

In Commorragh, when you encounter Yrliet while trying to find a way out of the Streets of Chasm after being separated from everyone in Chapter Three, it's crucial to behave appropriately towards her. Even though your reason for being here is Yrliet, it's essential not to say anything negative to advance your romance with her.

Here are the dialogues you need to select in sequence:

  • "Yrliet! You are alive!"
  • "Why are you doing this to her?"
  • "Yrliet, I intend to find a way out of this place. What about you?"

Afterward, Yrliet will kill her torturer and say that this isn't her path. She will ask if you forgive her. The option you should select is: "Even if you have lost your way, I will be here to help you find it again." Encourage her this way. Do not choose the other options. This response will please the remorseful Yrliet, strengthening the bond between you even further.

Help Yrliet In Meditating

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Yrliet's Location In the Pit

Before Chapter Three concludes, you need to have a conversation with Yrliet in the Pit. Select the option: "You wanted to discuss something with me?" She will prefer to speak with you in another corner. Afterward, she will express remorse for the events and explain why she had to do what she did. You should choose the following dialogues:

  • "I understand why you did that. And I forgive you."
  • "I wish I could embrace you and give you comfort, but you cannot bear human touch."
  • "I cannot help with meditation, but I am prepared to stay with you and share the silence. That way, you will be able to forget about the horrors of Commorragh, if only for a little while."

In the quest "Strings of the Puppeteer," you will interact with Farseers and face the dilemma of ending their suffering or saving them. Here, act with fairness and compassion to rescue them. For instance, there will be a Farseer trapped in a board game; instead of destroying the game, bring them aboard your ship. Furthermore, when speaking with Eklendyl later on, do not allow Yrliet to blame herself.

Do Not Allow Your Other Companions To Blame Yrliet

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Your Other Companions Are Blaming Yrliet

When you finally return to your ship from Commorragh, refrain from making any accusatory remarks about Yrliet to your crew. Heinrix and Argenta, among others, will blame Yrliet for what happened in Commorragh and express their desire to remove her from the ship. At this point, you'll have several options. Do not blame her or do not demand apologies from her.

Choose the option: "Yrliet is here to stay as part of my retinue. Get used to it." to silence their complaints. Then the others will leave, leaving only Yrliet with you. By choosing these options and exhausting the dialogues, you can learn her thoughts and understand that she values only your opinions:

  • "Are you all right?"
  • "I would never leave you at their mercy."
  • "If you shared with them what you shared with me in Commorragh, they would surely understand your actions."
  • "They will forgive you. Not all of them, and not right away, but they will."
  • "Do you really not care about what happened? Or are you trying to conceal your true feelings again?"

After selecting all dialogues, Yrliet will ask you what you think of her. The best option here is:

"I only know that everyone makes mistakes. And everyone hides the parts of their personalities they are not proud of. That is true of both humans and Aeldari."

Resolve The Conflict Between Calligos Winterscale And The Aeldari On Quetza Temer

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Voidship Is In Nameless Star System

Before reaching Winterscale, when you arrive at the Nameless Star system, you'll hear about the presence of Crudarach survivors. Yrliet will express her desire to rescue the survivors there. Of course, assure her that you'll help. Then, tell Yrliet that you'll find a peaceful resolution with Calligos.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Encounters Winterscale

To convince Calligos Winterscale not to kill the Aeldari and advance your romance with Yrliet, you'll need to navigate through some challenges. When you first encounter him, he won't recognize you and may mistake you for one of the xenos. Select: "Calligos, look at me. I am (your name) von Valancius."

Once he breaks free from the spell, he'll recognize you. Your next dialogue choice should be: "I am here to resolve your conflict with the Aeldari. With as little violence as possible."

However, the stubborn Calligos won't listen and will insist on joining the hunt.

Use your Medicae skill to assess his condition. Then, examine his team. Despite participating in the hunt, Calligos will appear completely fresh. Afterward, choose the dialogue:

“You have already destroyed four xenos ships, is that not a great victory in itself? Cease this hunt, and I shall make the xenos leave your worlds forever.”

Refuse to join the hunt with him. Instead, suggest taking the priest to the heart of the forest. This will prompt Winterscale's team to follow you. Once you reach the area of the Dwellers of the Forest, Calligos will stop, and you'll have another chance to talk to him: “Let us discuss the Aeldari problem.”

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Speaking Calligos In Dweller's Camp

This will give you the first opportunity to convince him. Make use of the skill check, which includes options like commerce, persuasion, and fellowship.

If you fail, revert to a previously saved point and try again.

Once you've exhausted all dialogues, you'll have no choice but to ask him to take you to the Aeldari camp.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Tries to Convince Calligos

Again, here you'll have three skill checks to persuade Calligos: Coercion, Commerce, and Persuasion. Even if you exhaust all dialogues and pass the skill checks, it won't work, and you'll have to choose a side. Therefore, align with the Aeldari and choose to attack Calligos. After the battle, the Aeldari will explain their plans. At this point, you need to select following dialogues:

  • “Yrliet, the plan of your kinsmen is insane! Convince them to relent before it is too late.”
  • Then, Yrliet will assure you that she will rescue you and the others.
  • “Rescue me? How?”
  • (Let Yrliet handle it on her own.)
  • (Let Yrliet handle it on her own.)
Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Stops the Ritual

In the next stage, there will be a ritual, but you need to interrupt it. You should select the following dialogues again:

  • “Stop the rite! Can’t you see she is suffering?”
  • (Stop the rite) “Get out of my way! If you won’t help her, then I will do so myself!”
Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - You Are Inside Yrliet's Inner World

Then, you'll enter Yrliet's inner world. Listen to the dialogues there. After entering the area with the magical sphere, Yrliet will tell you that you shouldn't be here. You need to select these options:

  • “You were calling my name, Yrliet. I thought you needed my help.”
  • “But I don’t know how to get out of here! I don’t even know how I got here.”

Then, ask her if she can stop the ritual. Afterward, you'll return to the normal world, and Yrliet will start addressing you by your name, which is a significant development. Use the Awareness skill check to see that Yrliet's stone is broken. Ask her how it happened.

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Comforts Yrliet

Then, tell her that she saved you, and add that she protected you with her soul. Additionally, express your willingness to cooperate in the future. Then ask, “Do you still hope to find the Haemonculus?” Yrliet will respond despondently, and you'll need to encourage her once again: “Nothing is over yet! I will stay by your side and help you find a new spirit stone.”

Select Yrliet From Among The Characters You Romance

Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader - Lordship Selecting Romacing Partner

During your voidship travels, you will encounter characters with whom you have experienced romance, and now it's time to choose one for the final. You must forsake the other characters you've had a romance with and choose Yrliet. In this regard, say the following: “Yrliet, I will never trade the bond that you and I have created for anything in the world.”

Thus, if you've come this far by following this guide, you've completed your romance with Yrliet. You can read about what happened at the end of your romance with Yrliet when you finish the game.
