Melinda Kgadiete Smashes Superb Hat-Trick as Brazilians Score Six Yet Again

For the second successive game in the Hollywoodbets Super League, Sundowns Ladies scored six times as they ran riot against Durban Ladies at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday.

Melinda Kgadiete was the star of the show, coming off the bench to score three times, with Refilwe Tholakele, Lebogang Ramalepe and Boitumelo Rabale all finding the back of the net in another remarkable attacking performance from Banyana Ba Style.

Having put six past City Lads last time, the Brazilians showed no signs of slowing down and Refilwe Tholakele’s goal in the 17th minute was only the beginning of what was to come. Lebogang Ramalepe then scored for the second consecutive game as the defending league champions doubled their advantage before the break.

After the restart, Rabale found the back of the net before Melinda Kgadiete scored a brilliant 20-minute treble to hand maximum points to Masandawana.

Despite scoring three times, Melinda believes the clash was far from easy. “The game was not as smooth as the scoreline suggests because Durban Ladies were very disciplined and well-positioned at times. But we showcased our attacking abilities when it mattered the most. I am happy with my performance having come on from the bench. This is a very good victory and we are all excited with our attacking output today.”

Banyana Ba Style also showed their quality on the other end of the pitch, with goalkeeper Sedilame Bosija making several world-class saves to preserve a clean sheet in the 6-0 win.

“Away games are never easy as opponents often sit back and defend against us, but we did what we had to do and we are happy with today’s result. Across the pitch today, we were very solid and I am happy to have played my part in ensuring we did not concede. Kudos to everyone today for a job well done,” Sedilame stated.

The 6-0 victory today means Sundowns Ladies have now scored 24 goals in the last six league meetings against their opponents!

Melinda’s hat-trick means she has now scored 15 league goals, just one behind Boitumelo Rabale in the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart. Andisiwe Mgcoyi has bagged 7 goals, Chuene Morifi has notched up six and Lelona Daweti has five to her name. Lebohang Ramalepe has also moved up to five goals with Refilwe Tholakele on four strikes.

Up next for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies is a tasty clash against JVW FC Durban Ladies scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 14th, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, with kick-off set for 15h00.
