If they still had a budget, this would've been a 2 parter with PD with Ruzek probably getting kidnapped too.
This would have been such a great crossover tbh.
Haven’t had a fun and heart pumping crossover in a while
So clearly, Indiana FD needed a new truck but they're going through budget cuts as well. Seems like a justified solution
😂😂😂😂
When they sprayed the hose at the guy who was holding the gun I could not stop laughing.
Yet again Herrmann and Ritter saving the day with the water hose. And then people think what's the use of engine haha.
It was also pretty cute seeing them all squeezed into Squad 3. It reminded the first seasons when they had more than 4 people on truck and squad.
I love when Hermann and Ritter use the hose to resolve the issue. There's gonna be one episode where someone hanging from a tree or a ledge falls, and Hermann and Ritter turn on the hose to slow down their fall.
Yeah what happened to that? Why are there only 4 now?
So Carver is the guy who is MIA this episode.
And mouch and boden
I'm trying to remember when did we last see boden this season?
2 episodes ago. He said he was going to take a couple weeks off to help his stepson? And kelly filled in as ranking officer last ep
I think it was episode 9
Wouldn't a fire truck have a GPS on it that you should be able to know where its at all times?
Stella Kidd: "Budget cuts."
Also the bad guy snipped the radio comm under the truck when they first got to the warehouse
But usually vehicle tracking and radios are separate things.
I was totally thinking the same thing.
A few minutes after I put in that reply they explained in the episode of how they wouldn't be able to track it. Before that I was wondering why didn't Kelly while on top of the truck call the police. But then they showed his phone sitting on the squad table.
Morse code making a comeback. First, it was Stabler now Severide.
He's making this guy think he's losing his mind and that's kinda funny tbh. 😂😂😂

He had to create a distraction to get him out of the office so he could get to the phone.
Why isn’t this a Chicago PD crossover episode?
This way you can have Ritter's boyfriend show up as one of the cops, he's not a part of Intelligence.
Because that costs more money than just having two non big one Chicago actors play the cops
They blew up Truck 81!!! 😭😭😱
What a shame. And there were only 2 more payments left.
Now they won't be able to use the old truck for a trade in on a new truck.
Does the firehouse not have security cameras? Why couldn’t they check those to ID the other 2 guys who helped steal the truck?
Get outta here with your logic
Missing firetruck that's worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Missing/kidnapped firefighter
Attempted bombing.
CPD: Let's send two cops with 9 unarmed firefighters to bring down the terrorists!
But! One of the cops was Ritter’s love interest! Surely that trumps common sense!
I think they were waiting for or meeting the Indiana cops at the scene too because it was out of their jurisdiction.
Right but you'd think if they were going from Chicago to Indiana, they'd have the cops staged at the boarder waiting for them
It's 1 hour and 12 minutes from Chicago to the Illinois/Indiana boarder....plenty of time to mobilize a bigger force.
True, true. I need to watch again to see if there were more cops cars with them at the end. They only focused on squad 3 driving to the location.
Depends on where you are in Chicago. From where 51 is filmed it is probably a half hour with lights at night, but if the warehouse where the bad guys stashed the truck is in southeast Chicago, they could sneak across the border quickly, especially on back roads.
Wolf was like “how can I make a filler episode as cheaply as humanly possible to make them stop complaining about 3 weeks between episodes?” Lol
Also sending them 40 minutes away. If CFD was looking to clean house at 51, this is the reason.
This shit turned into PD pretty fast.
Also kudos to taylor for his performance. He barely spoke the first half of the episode but you could feel everything he was feeling just with his body language and facial expressions
Kelly needs to break out the Slammigan and take this dude out!
That was a pretty tense episode. I really enjoyed it!
Taylor definitely deserves an award for his performance in this episode. He did an outstanding job!
Who saw that execution coming? Not me. How does Severide not need therapy by now? 😂😫Anyways, as someone said, best episode of the season. Too many commercial breaks though.
Agreed that it’s best episode so far this season. It’s a crisis situation that lasted the entire episode and not a call that takes up 15 minutes at most and the rest is basically gibberish.
Exactly
Stella's meta comment about the firehouse having budget cuts killed me 😭 It's honestly sad that they had to cut out Boden, Carver AND Mouch in order to shoot this episode. Like I'm glad we finally got some action and high stakes, it's been a long time since I held my breath watching (and Taylor's performance was excellent), but it just doesn't feel the same without the full team. This also would've been the perfect storyline for a crossover of all three shows and now it seems like crossovers are just never going to happen again.
Yeah especially because Carver should have definitely been part of those "Damon is shady" conversations considering he was first person that clocked something was weird about Damon
The high stakes of some of the stunts was exciting but I agree that this episode felt empty without all the team present.
Pretty sure that was the writers getting a dig in
Good thing Mouch wasn't here. He probably would've gotten shot by Fat Jon Moxley.
Best episode yet!!
Give Taylor all of the awards for this episode
Love how the entire crew of Station 51 forget "Scene Safety" and just rushes into the blast zone and just assume everyone died, then get shot at.
Can we have this writer write every episode ?? Please
I'm calling it now, I think the new guy is Benny Severide's illegitimate son.
Possible but I can’t wait to find out for sure who he really is
Lol I think he's Kelly's.
Haha that actually makes more sense, it's just hard for me to think of Kelly as that old.
They already did the secret half sibling storyline with Kelly so I'm thinking a secret kid from his teenage years.
I was thinking that too, since last week. Like he’s someone’s son. Now that you said it, it’s gotta be Benny Severide.
Or as someone else pointed out, maybe it's his own son from a teenage liaison.
It’s totally possible. I just definitely think he’s someone’s kid. I first got that impression when he was scrutinizing the photos on the wall of the house.
Omg. Just stop. 🛑 lol.
So during that month long break I made the mistake of rewatching episodes from the beginning, so watching tonight knowing Boden was out I was so confused why Casey wasn’t taking the lead on this whole stolen truck and Kelly kidnapping. Took me a good 20 mins to remember he’s not on the show any more haha.
It's not the same without Casey
Shout out to severide looking like a snack laying in bed waiting for his beautiful wife.
This episode was lit🤪
The way severide just looked at the man when he said "dont you have a wife and kids you wanna go home to?"
So did they take 51 out of service for this episode? Because no one actually responded to any calls.
Probably. Truck 81 was definitely out of service lol.
My friend is in this episode I'm so excited for him!
What role did they play? So cool!
Dwayne!
The only way I can watch this is via CityTv (don't get me started on this scummy sevice), and it usually takes like 24 hours for a new episode to show up (with forced ads, seriously what am I paying for).
I'm stoked for this episode. Nearly makes me want to get AppleTV despite owning 0 products.
Its not on peacock in your region?
No Peacock in Canada
Ahhh damn that sucks
Woohoo! Excited for tonight's episode!
This was a brilliant episode! The best of season 12 in my opinion.
Stella and Kelly are such brilliant actors. The way they can convey their emotions through the screen, you can feel it yourself. I found myself holding my breath with Kelly while he was trying to move around without making a sound. And with Stella, you can feel the worried wife angst all over her, she was great.
Damon seems so shady, but up until that moment with Ritter, I was so rooting for him to be a good guy! I still am actually. I am hoping that he turns out to be a sweet guy and we are misunderstanding him because he seemed so genuine about not wanting anything to happen to Severide, and the talk they had with the chainsaw felt like someone talking to a man they really admire and look up to. The previous episode I thought the same with Stella. He seems like he is really genuinely excited to be working along side them. So why? Why oh why did his face contort into classic bad guy mode after Ritter admitted that he was the one that made Stella question him?
Not about this episode but just thinking out loud. Is Kelly taking over Bodens spot OR is it more likely somebody horrible taking over Bodens spot, like Gorsch, to make it more of a bomb drop. But also 51 didn't get a battalion chief after Boden made deputy DC so who is that person going to be? Doesn't every firehouse need a battalion chief? I'm still holding out hope that it's Kelly that would take that spot, but I also know Kelly HATES working behind a desk and his heart is really with OFI. Why would the writers send him for training on arson investigation and then pivot and put him in Bodens chair?
Damon either strikes me as being a mole for the chief paramedic, hiding something shady and personal, or actually being unhealthily obsessed with the firehouse and admiring Severide and Stella a little too much. His immediate dislike of Ritter after that end conversation came across like he just saw him getting in the way of being accepted even though Ritter had been apologetic about his suspicion. I wouldn't be surprised if he now has it out for Ritter and tries turning the others against him or something.
You are probably right, but I seriously hope not. Although we had mole vibes with Lennox already. It would be interesting if he is secretly obsessed with Stella and Kelly, but why? What triggered the obsession? It has to stem from something personal. And he really can't be mad at Ritter. He didn't make anything up, he just told her what happened, and Carver also didn't seem to like Damon either so he was clearly giving of shady vibes.
He’s someone’s kid. Like Benny Severide’s. This is classic misdirection.
Oh that's an interesting angle! Could definitely see that being a possibility now.
Notice how Damon’s facial expression changed to anger exactly when Ritter said, “It’s home.”
It's driving me nuts that after Damon having that reaction, Ritter didn't follow up with "so what were you talking about that you didn't want 51 to know about?" Just fully get it out there and let him explain or hide. Just walking off is super lame
2. Damon mentioned taking classes with Kelly at the academy but Kelly didn’t remember him at all. I thought that was an interesting bit
Then went Kelly asked him which class it was, he said that he was wanting to take his class but it was full. I'm not too sure why he would make up a lie like that to Stella. She is his wife, obviously she is going to tell him. It's so weird. So many questions about Damon. The next 2 episodes are going to be interesting.
I think they could promote Hermann to Chief and then have Cruz go for Lieutenant. Herman had that issue with his hearing and he might be okay enough to be on the ground but not in the thick of it all, if that makes sense?
I really thought they were gonna follow through with Cruz becoming lieutenant story line after Severide returned from the arson investigation training and they had that small tiff, but then they just dropped it
Great idea. Although not sure Herman commands enough respect / gravitas to be Chief. He has always acted on flaky, dumb get rich quick schemes so His overall judgment is kind of sus.
I thought it was a case of jumping the shark! Ridiculous plotline..the whole crew heading to Indiana? The hose bit looked like a keystone kops stunt. So disappointed ..and Damian? Severides love child!
Not severides but I think he’s bennys… so would be serverides little brother
Sounds great! Can’t wait to watch tonight! Anxious to find out more about the new guy!
