Tennessee State University Reviews
Rating 3.42 out of 5 1,756 reviews
I’m writing this review in regards to Admissions because I now understand why black students do not have faith in HBCUs. I have been applying to be a Transient Student at TSU for 3 semesters in a row now and have not been able to contact or reach anyone in Admissions. I have constantly checked my emails as well as the Tiger Portal they say to check and there’s nothing there for me. I initially thought I wanted to attend TSU once I finished my 2-year degree but after all of the mess I’ve been dealing with with just applying to be Transient, I can only imagine the BS that will occur if I was a full time student. And I even went on a school campus tour but TSU is now out of my schools to transfer to.
Overall the experience was pretty good, it seems unsafe to have a college in the area but it is like a family when you get to know it. I believe Tennessee State University needs to do better with the things that students bring up. There are issues about teachers and staff that should be addressed and the cruelty that they can have for situations that should be taken more seriously.
Tennessee State University has overall given me a mediocre experience. The professors often times do not apply themselves as well as pose difficult to help outside the classroom. The food options are limited and often times unhealthy. The offices within the school built to help students do not care to do their jobs and the housing situation needs immediate help. The only great thing about TSU are the students here who are great friends and very involved.
